2008 Lexus Is250 (VIN [xxx]). Received a recall on dashboard. Crown Lexus in ontario California approved the replacement of dashboard as well as all doors in October (?) 2015. I have been calling the dealer multiple times, but still unknown when the parts will come in. I have called Lexus directly on estimate time to ship out parts, but they never provided any answer. I am hoping to sell the car, but resale value would be affected by this not to mention the glare causes safety concern. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Material on my dash appears to be sticky, possibly due to hot weather, and can cause a significant amount of light reflection producing glare on the windshield. Depending on the sun's relative direction to the car, it can hinder visibility to where driving during the daytime is not feasible.
Dashboard is melting in the hot sun. It causes a glare which is dangerous to drive.

Dashboard is melting / sticky / cracked. We have concerns for safety with the airbags malfunctioning as a result of the faulty dashboard.
Dashboard is literally melting. Looks shiny and is sticky to touch. Leaves black residue on fingers and creates a dangerous glare on windshield.
I own a 2007 Lexus Is250 and the interior is melting. The dashboard has a glossy, sticky residue that has made driving during the day in sunny conditions impossible. The residue causes a glare that hinders my ability to see while driving. So much so that I almost missed a stop sign! the door panels are melting to the point that if you touch them the material sticks to your hands and clothing or just falls off and when I get it on my hands it causes a rash. I've contacted Lexus and submitted a request to have these parts replaced and I was quickly denied. I'm reporting this issue to you today because this is my only vehicle and I have no choice but to drive it and I wanted to document my concerns in case something were to happen. Thank you for your time. Have a great day!.
The dashboard is melted on the drivers side making it almost impossible to see clearly at certain times during the day. This is a serious problem that needs to be looked into because it can cause wrecks if it hasn't already. I know there are probably thousands of people that have this problem and Lexus should stand by its brand and fix problems that are not the consumers fault.
My Lexus is 250 has a melting and sticky dashboard as well as all four door sides and its handle bars. Every time I touch on the dashboard due to the top of the driver's wheel being so close, I had it on my fingertip being sticky and I have to wipe it off but still left some black mark on my finger. Also everytime I put the windshield cover to protect the heat from going inside, it placed some marks on the dashboard. It has been so bad to smell toxic chemicals coming from the dashboard while I'm in the car driving. Need to say more ? I am afraid it may give me an illness in the future from smelling it into my lungs. Can't we have a recall from Lexus and do something about it real quickly ? it would be real nice to replace the old dashboard and sides with a best qualified standard with the materials that is safe that won't hurt the customer and won't damage from the sun from melting again. I see Lexus changed the dashboard material to some kind of leather or thick leather that won't melt. I paid alot of money for my car and I'm real disappointed about the quality of the interior of the car I pay for. I had an old car Honda civic for a long time and I never experienced a similar problem with a dashboard. Very good qualities in the interior in the Honda civic back the 1980s. Now 2005 to 2007 Lexus used a cheaper kind of material on the dashboard ?? we customers paid alot of hard money earned for this car we love. Thank you.
I would like to file a complaint concerning the dash in my Lexus. The dash is melting and creating a glare onto the windshield. I have spoken with several Lexus dealers and they are aware of the problem, but the manufacture has not had a recall at this time. The cost from the Lexus dealer is around $2500. 00. After much research on the internet, this is not just a few cars with the problem.
I have a 2007 Lexus is 250. I've had it for 7 years now and love everything about it. But about 2-3 years ago, the vinyl interior starting getting sticky. It's gotten worse that if you touch it the color comes off on your fingers. I have a big shiny area on the dashboard which reflects on the front windshield and makes visibility difficult. I know there's others here in south florida with the same issue, that have gone to Lexus and have been told they have to pay to replace it, that it's not covered.
The dash board started melting during the summer. I approached Lexus while I had extended warranty and they advised they were not able to do anything about it. Would like to know if there is something that can be done to have this replaced.
I have a 2007 Lexus Is250 in which the dashboard and side door molding are melting causing the rubber to come off the dashboard. There has been numerous complaints from Lexus owners that they are having the same issue. Investigator reporter for channel 6 in miami has file a complaint agains Toyota and Lexus to make this a mandatory recall to fix this items,Toyota is aware but they do not want to replace the dashboards unless we pay $900. 00 for the repairs. If they know there is an issue they need to fix it instead of charging the consumer for there mistake.
Dashboard defect.
Dashboard is literally melting when the car is exposed to the direct sun light. Dashboard looks sticky ugly and disgusting. Since the problem occurred the dashboard has developed a few long cracks. I demand a recall from a manufacturer to replace a dashboard for a new one with a better quality.
The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Is250. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting. The glare from the dashboard obstructed the contact's view when driving in sunny conditions. The dealer had never before seen that type of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000.
It was 90 degrees out and my dashboard was so gooey like sticky I was on my way to work and had a glare half the size of my windshield very dangerous could barely see on a sunny day. Door panels melt also leaving particles in your fingernails gotta clean my kids nails everyday and make sure they wash there hands everytime opening the door cause kids will be kids and sticks fingers in there mouths im very nervous about these particles falling off and melting we are breathing in whatever hazardous material is used to make the dash . The glare is very dangerous they need to recall these dashboards im scared everytime I get in my car this is very dangerous sometimes you cant see people crossing the street . This needs to be recalled I got tons of pictures of the glare and the sticky dash its my whole dashboard and my door panels its all melting I took it to Lexus for major concern they denied me any help.
Purchased the 2007 Lexus is 250 used in March, 2014. Within a couple of weeks, noticed the dashboard and interior door panels get very shiny and sticky (I. E. Melting) when it is hot outside and the interior car temperature rises.
The dashboard and door panels of my 2007 Lexus Is250 contain a rubber like material that has become sticky as if it is melting away. It has become extremely fragile to the touch, leaving your finger imprint or even a chunks to come off. When driving during the day, I now have a reflection of the whole dashboard on my windshield which impairs my visions as it is almost impossible to see out without sunglasses on. This has become a major safety issue and for the price tags that come with these vehicles, we should all be getting this problem fixed before it cost people their lives.
The dash of the 2006 Lexus is 250 dash board and door handles are melting. It's a glow that sticks on its a factor problem.
I copied one of the other complaints, since my experience is exactly the same. Car dashboard is literally melting. The surface is now sticky which reflects a glare on the front windshield obstructing safe viewing for driving. When the sun is shining, it is very hard to see through the reflection of the dash on the inside windshield. Rearview mirror has black lines obstructing safe viewing for driving.
I currently own a 2008 is-250 with less than 6,000 mile on the odometer. I took my car in to the dealership for several unusual problems. The seals around the wind shield were dry rotted and had fallen out all the way around the windshield. The dash board was also sticky and had a number of cracks. The top of my windshield was also 'DE-laminated" and needed to be replaced. Lexus did step up to the plate and replaced the windshield and dash board free of charge even though my vehicle was out of warranty. However, my car has the extended factory warranty on it still to this day. I had to pay $490. 00 plus dollars out of pocket for parts and labor to get them to replace the molding around both sides of my windshield that had rotted away. While my vehicle was being repaired, I pointed out to the service manager the fact that the door panels were also "melting" and if you poke it, it leaves an indentation in the material and it was clearly a defect as the car is garage kept and should not have these problems. The door panels also get a white film on them when the car sits. I believe it is important to keep in mind, this car has less than 6,000 miles. I think Lexus/Toyota needs to replace the door panels on my car free of charge as the problem is a "defect" in workmanship and not an end user caused issue. I love my Lexus and would not hesitate to purchase another one but this is an issue that should be addressed and repaired at the manufacturers expense since I in no way caused the issues I am experiencing.
I was driving south in my car during the middle of the day, and the glare from my dashboard was so bad I wasn't able to see a car appx 30 feet in front of me. There was no accident, but due to Lexus using defective materials for their dashboard, it has melted and become shiny enough to be a real danger as the glare fully impedes view while driving in sunlight. As the passenger airbag is also contained in the dash, I have heard of a danger of it being triggered as well due to this issue. I contacted both Lexus customer support as well as my local Lexus dealership. I found online that there was purportedly a service bulletin that was issued to by Lexus (I obtained a copy online) to dealers in 2011 informing them of the material problem and availability of replacement parts (affected both dash and door panels), but bulletin this was not communicated to owners (I. E. No recall), so I was never made aware and was out of warranty at the time the bulletin was issued as it was only effective 48 months from in-service date even though my model year was included in the affected vehicles. The most they were willing to cover was 50% of the replacement part cost. My responsibility would have been $2800 to fully re-mediate the issues (dash and doors), which I declined as I feel Lexus should be fully accountable as the problem is admittedly due to faulty material used in the manufacture of certain years/vins of their vehicles. This also impacts my resale value even though that alone is not safety-related, it should be considered as well. I took cell phone video of the glare from my dash that impeded view and have that available if needed.
The dashboard on the Lexus is 250 is melting and disintegrating leaving a shiny residue that reflects on the windshield while driving in the sun. This shiny residue caused by the melting of the dashboard impairs visibility through the windshield making it dangerous while driving in sunlight. I couldn't see debris that was on the road while driving and hit the debris on the road, this caused me to swerve around and almost hit another vehicle. I'm concerned about this because this shouldn't be happening on a vehicle that is only a few years old. This shine reflection on the windshield is unpredictable as the low visibility only occurs when the sun reflects on the dashboard. I can't predict which direction I will be driving, facing the sun or not, making it dangerous to drive at all times.
The dashboard material has begun to melt creating a shiny spot in front the drivers side and creates a glare in the windhsield reducing visibility at times.
My dashboard and doors have been melting increasingly over the past year from the florida heat/humidity. The dashboard is coming apart and is sticky. My vision is greatly impacted by the glare on the window that occurs from the sticky dashboard . I am highly fearful of an accident. My doors are so sticky that my clothes are constantly ruined. I contacted Lexus and they only offered $500 as a courtesy, since I am out of "warranty". Lexus quoted me $3300 to fix the problem. I have seen the news with many others with similar problems and no assistance has been offered, placing mine and others lives at risk.
Beginning some time in sept of 2013 I began to notify Lexus corp through jm Lexus dealership that my dashboard and side panels were beginning to melt and become sticky. After some persistence jm Lexus sent a letter or email requesting Lexus corp replace the parts due to defective material being used in the parts. Lexus corp agreed to replace the dash only and that I, the customer, would have to pay for the labor cost of installation. I continued to dispute this but was unable to make contact with anyone who would assist me with the whole process. Finally in March of 2014 the dash had melted so much in front of the drivers side that it was now shiny and very reflective. I decided instead of getting into an accident due to the glare while driving that I would cover the labor cost to get the dash replaced and continue to dispute who should actually have paid that cost. The car went into jm Lexus, they replaced the dash and I paid the labor. I took pictures of the dash while in the car and after being pulled out. I then requested for them to hold the dash so I could meet with a Lexus representative to discuss the problem. The rep could not make himself available to meet with me but said he would look at the part and the car, then call me. I have not heard or received any information from the rep and I still fully believe this is a hazardous part to anyone who is having the same issue and needs to be fully investigated by ntsb or someone for recall measures before someone is killed in an accident caused by the glare of the melted dash. I realize that my car is a 2006 but, no car dash should melt to the point that it is sticky, soft enough to put your nail into and shiny enough to cause bright glare into the drivers eyes.

Car dashboard is literally melting. The surface is now sticky which reflects a glare on the front windshield obstructing safe viewing for driving. Rearview mirror has black lines obstructing safe viewing for driving. Lexus is aware of both issues which appear to be manufacturer's defects but refuses to recall. Consumers are expected to bear costs to repair these manufacturers defects upwards $3000. A dashboard should never melt.
Dashboard is deteriorating, melting, and becoming very sticky and shiny causing glare on windshield. Door panels are also breaking down.
My dashboard is melting in this texas heat. One day I got into my car during the hot afternoon, this would be an after when we were very close to 100 degrees outside. My fingernail hit the dashboard and took a small chunk out of it. My entire dashboard felt very soft and sticky. Also this same material is on my side doors and you can see where it's melted some and my finger nails have knicked this material as I try to grab the door handle to open the door (drivers side). Now that it's so hot my dashboard and side doors feel very sticky and soft. They are even turning a milky white/grey, which I guess is attributable to the sun.
Dashboard is extremely sticky and appears to be melting.
