I have noticed over the past 2 years my dash slowly getting shinier and more sticky to the touch. I have tried using quality car plastic/vinyl cleaners to resolve the issue but to no avail. In fact, the dash is so sticky that using a cloth to clean it causes fibers to adhere to the dash. The safety concern is that the shine is producing glare on the inside of the windshield which in turn makes it more difficult to see while driving (especially on sunny days when the sun is high). After doing some research online, it appears that this is a very common issue (especially for those living in warmer climates such as myself) and needs to be resolved for the safety of all drivers experiencing the issue.

I called in to northside Lexus dealership service department. I explained to them that my dashboard and all my leather on my doors are starting to melt and get sticky. If you hit it with a finger nail, the leather would easily come off. [xxx] which was my service representative told me it's probably what I put on the surfaces to clean it. My response was definitely not. I had used no chemicals at all just a cool water because I didn't want my interior fading on down the line. I reported this in 2011 & 2012. The dashboard is sticky, chipping and melting resulting in a blinding glare on the driver side wind shield. The glare reduces and hinders visibility and it has become a safety concern and hazard. The dash and door panel are so soft that anytime I bump it with my nail or ring, a chunk of the dash comes out. This melting is a potential hazard for the function of the air bags.

My whole interior is melting in my car. Large wet spots on dash that make visibility nearly impossible when the sun is shining in the car on the dash board. The cars door panels also have the same issue, which black residue gets on the skin and clothing after brushing up against it. The car is a safety and health hazard and the local Lexus dealership as well as the corporate office will not step in and own up to their defective interior. I have told them multiple times that this is a safety issue and they have no concern and tell me they deny any assistance because I am out of warranty. Please help!.

Dashboard of the car has melted, specifically right in front of the driver position. The size of the melting/shiny reflective area is round and like 9 inches wide. The reflection of the shiny melting rubber from the dash affects having a clear visibility of the road. This is a safety hazard and not acceptable for a relatively new vehicle. This happened for the first time over two years ago, but it just keep getting worse, the car is driven by my pregnant wife.

Dashboard and door panels are beginning to melt and become sticky. Manufacturing defect in soft dash material is suspected. May cause injury to driver if air bags were deployed in an accident and the failing dash material were to become shrapnel as the bags deploy at high pressure.

The dashboard and door panels are melting when the car is in the sun.

This cars dash and doors are very spongy. They come off with just a fingernail touch.

Over the course of the vehicles life, the interior dash and door panels have become sticky and have began deteriorating. In some cases, parts of the dash have become brittle and broken off. Concern for safety in the event of a crash from flying dash particles.

The cars interior melted and has become not only a nuisance but has become a safety issue. The melting of the dashboard creates a bright reflection in the windshield whole driving making it difficult to see. Furthermore, the melting of the plastic gives off a chemical odor that may be hazardous. Lastly, this is concerning because it may even affect the functioning of my airbags. Lexus decision to put out a tsis after most people's warranties become void is irresponsible and morally corrupt. Enough people have complained about this safety issue that something needs to be done. There are now class actin lawsuits and thousands of others who signed petitions and complained online, although not through this site but that should not matter. Please do not allow Lexus to get away with this.

Dash and door side panels melt and cause glare and scratch very easily. 2 year old son can easily take chunks out and places in his mouth.

Vehicle's dashboard and trims on door panels are melting. Black stains appear on finger tips when you touch them. Panels are cracking and melting.

The dashboard of my 2008 Lexus Is250 melts away everyday as well as the the drivers and passenger side door panels. The melted dashboard causes a glare directly in the viewing sight of the driver especially on really hot and sunny days here in south florida. This causes driving vision to be impaired. The door panels and dashboard leave prints on your hands and fingers when they are touched.

For several years dash and other rubber parts of interior are melting and forming a gummy/glue type substance that causes permanent damage to appearance and sticks to anything that touches it including damaging clothing. Lexus made me pay for labor to replace dash but refused to replace door components saying it was too expensive to fix and they insisted I pay for the entire cost of replacing all 4 doors. This is ridiculous that car owners have to pay for fixing a manufacturing defect that is caused by using a rubber that degrades over time and becomes a gooey substance.

The dash and door sills on the car are melting and sticky. You can not get in and out of the car without leaving gouges in the interior. Hands stick to everything and the problem only gets worse. The car is becoming unusable and is defective.

I purchased my leased Lexus on 12/10/2011. Shortly thereafter, the dashboard started to melt. I have an extend warranty but it does not cover dashboards. I cannot put a cover over the window as the cover sticks to the dashboard. I have been to the Lexus dealership where I purchased it in west palm beach, FL but they will only pay for the part. I would have to pay for labor at a cost of almost $800. 00. I feel that this is considered a defect. I have owned many cars in my lifetime, many less expense than this one and this has never happened to me. When the sun hits the shiny dash, it is difficult to see out the window. I understand that it is happening to many cars and I feel that it is a recall item as it is dangerous to the driver and other cars/pedestrians.

The dash and both driver and passenger side door panels look as if they are melting. Every time I touch the door my fingernail chips off another piece of the soft material, making it look as though an animal was clawing at it. On really hot sunny days the dash can become somewhat shiny obstructing the view at certain angles and lighting. Dangerous and annoying.

I notice my car dashboard has been melting for about 2-3 years now, it is now creating a obstruction while driving in the daytime because it causes a glare on the windshield. It's literally a sticky mess, the dye in the dashboard if touched transfers on the fabric in car. I brought it to the attention of the dealership, the only I option have is to change the entire dashboard at my cost. Through my research there are many cars on the road with this issue. I appreciate your attention in this very serious matter.

A few months after I purchased this car back in 2011, I started to notice that the dashboard and front door panels started to deteriorate; literally looked like they were melting. It feels very sticky, it gets scratched easily from the slightest touch, but the main thing is the dash, it looks so shiny it creates a horrible glare that reflects on the windshield and makes the visibility very difficult and it just gets worse and worse with time. I have complained several times with the dealership, they say they will only cover the repair partially but still the amount that would come out of my pocket is significantly high. According to what I have researched, Lexus released a service bulletin about this issue with the sticky/shiny dash and door panels. However, the extended warranty on my car would not cover the repair/replacement of the parts. I just hope they are aware that this goes beyond of being only a "cosmetic" problem, because just the glare on the windshield itself can become a significant driving hazard.

My entire dash board is melting. The door panels have melted in some areas and cracked in others. Car is in excellent condition and wanted to sell it but no one would even look at it with a sticky dashboard that is melting and door panels that all cracking off. Lexus says they are not responsible because it is out of warranty. They will discount the replacement of the dashboard at an exuberant charge! this is a manufacture defect, fire hazard.

I have been complaining to the Lexus dealership, and then to corporate Lexus for several years about my dashboard and doors disintegrating, melting away. I have 47,893 miles on the car which is garaged the majority of the day/nights. I have had my car serviced and maintained solely at germaine Lexus of naples. This has been a huge consumer issue per the internet, as well as confirmed by the customer service rep I spoke to at Lexus. B Lexus has repeatedly offered to pay for half. . . . . Which I find ridiculous. I have a 2000 isuzu rodeo with 125,000 miles, that has never been recalled, the dash, sunroof, and electronics still work. . . . Unlike my "luxury" Lexus. This should be a warranty item, it is not - rather, should not be a replaceable part like brakes, clutch, seat motor, etc. This is the dashboard in places that one is unable to access with any body part! thank you, I hope that there will be some resolve on this. Melting dashboard. The material used to create the dashboard has been turning soft, gooey, and shiny over the years. The shine is extremely dangerous in that it obstructs and distracts the view of the driver. A recall should be alerted to resolve this issue.

The dash and armrests has been melting and is easily marred or chipped. I've added uv protection film to curb the effect but it is still happening. Please help us there are many with this issue and many did not receive a recall notice.

Approximately 3 years after purchasing this vehicle, the dashboard and the doors started to get very sticky. When I inquire about this with the dealer in March of 2012 I was told there was nothing they could do, that I needed to have it replaced at my own cost. The problem continues to get worse as the dashboard/doors are melting and are also cracking.

I leased my Lexus Is250 back in 2007 and have since then been the only owner. Since then the dash board of my car has been melting and now causes a horrible glare/reflection on my windshield creating poor visibility when driving on sunny days which is most days her in south florida. Also the inside door panel material has become very soft to touch and seems to be melting also. After discussing this with Lexus they offered me to go 50/50 on the repairs to have these problems corrected which means hundreds of dollars out of my pocket for a repair that is due to poor materials. My main concern however is them doing something about the dashboard because have a blind spot on a windshield is a very unsafe condition for any driver.

While driving approximately 70 mph on normal road conditions the driver observed a hump extruded from the console which interfered with the leg movement to access the brake and accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician stated the problem addressed was a manufacturer design issue. The failure mileage was 25,000. I had a car accident last Friday on highway 75, at approximately the 248. 7 mark. I was going at the speed limit, and all of a sudden the front wheel came off from axle end and hit divider wall on the interstate. I lost control of the car and bumped my head on the glass. My insurance company and the police told me that I don't need to file report since no other party was involved. I would to attached some pictures of the vehicle taken after the accident if possible. You can clearly see all of 5 bolts are still attached on the tires . It is very frustrating and astonishing that a highly reputable car maker would have allowed such poor quality on the body structure. There was no side collision at that time, and I when the tire came off loose it scratched and made damages to the car. Currently my car is at dealer shop, waiting for inspection. I sincerely hope Lexus or NHTSA can start investigating on this matter and provide me an explanation. Needless to say, this is a very serious safety issue. No car owner would have expected any part of their car to be detached while on the road with no reason. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

2006 Lexus is 250 awd with just under 70k miles- noticed that carpeting was soaking wet, with significant water in rear passenger area. Took car to dealership who said that the a/c drain hose was blocked. Lexus has a TSB with a new and improved drain hose, but they did not cover as car was no longer under warranty and they refused to admit that the part was defective. Cost to replace drain hose (1700) and replace carpet (2200) for a total of 3900. Lexus agreed to pay 50% as a goodwill gesture, but refused to admit design defect. I disagree with their assertion.

The contact owns a 2010 Lexus Is250. The contact stated when driving at various speeds with the convertible top down, both the driver and passenger side windows would rattle excessively. The dealer advised the windows were manufacturer to operate as they were and there was not a repair necessary or available to correct the rattling. The current and failure mileages were 4,294. The inside rear view mirror is discolored and is difficult to see clearly from.

My 2007 Is250 Lexus dash board rattle due to poor insulation. Due to dash being taken apart several times now car turns on 3 times by it self nav systems went out and since dash board is not set properly front windows fog up.

Interior - melting dash and door panels; my dash and door panels are disintegrating for no reason and have been for some time. Looks as if it has melted. All door panels are doing this but the best example is that no one sits in the back of the car. I open the rear doors, panels look as if someone has cut pieces out of it. Panels are just melting and coming apart. (melting and disintegrating interior).
