Lexus RX owners have reported 3 problems related to warning (under the lane departure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Lexus RX based on all problems reported for the RX.
My Rx350 experienced malfunction of the advanced driver assistance systems (adas). Messages regarding the malfunction of the adas first appeared around mid-August 2024. Upon inspection during the week of August 27 2024, the Lexus dealer, akron-canton of Lexus, indicated that the malfunction was caused by rats chewing on the soy-based wiring. The dealership replaced the wiring at a cost of $1,295. 10. This is a problem caused by faulty design and inappropriate parts and design. It is inconceivable that car parts would be made of animal food. This put me and my family at serious risk of accident, as my reliance on warnings was severely compromised. Lexus needs to immediately replace the soy-covered wiring with something that is not edible by rodents or any other wildlife. In the interim, an equitable solution would be to reimburse the actual costs as well as compensate for the risks thrust upon drivers by their reckless use of inappropriate material. The repair invoice is attached.

The lane departure camera is mounted to the windshield and the glass between the windshield and the camera becomes fogged over time. This results in the lane departure system becoming less sensitive or inoperable - in particular in low-light or when sun was shining toward the camera (dusk/dawn). It also results in the adaptive cruise control becoming more erratic (abrupt in stops). This design puts the user of the vehicle and others around them at risk as key safety systems are compromised. This is in an area that is generally not easily accessible for an owner to clean. However, I was able to remove the camera and clean the glass (please see pictures) and normal function resumed immediately. This is not an operation a owner should attempt and there are warnings about camera re-calibration. I believe NHTSA should consider this a design defect that could be cured by a visit to a dealer (periodically) with their technicians performing a complementary cleaning of the interior camera glass to ensure the camera continues to function properly. About the car: this car has never been in an accident, non-smoker, always garaged (no sun/heat exposure) driven in the city with no dust or debris in the cabin (exceptionally clean inside and out) 33,500 miles at time of cleaning (photos attached). I believe this fog is due to off-gassing of cabin materials that occurs naturally as the vehicle ages.

Purchased a brand new Lexus Rx 350h on April 28, 2023. Within 2-3 weeks, the vehicle started issuing alerts that parts of the adas were malfunctioning, and therefore the vehicle was disabling the entire adas. This warning would come on while driving, and even after clearing the warning, it would pop back up within seconds. Took the new car to the dealer over 4 weeks ago to have this addressed, and they still can't figure out how to replace the faulty part and reprogram the vehicle. This is a brand new car with only about 1,000 miles on it. The dealer has indicated that Lexus corporate is seeing this issue with a bunch of their new 2023 cars, and Lexus doesn't have the new parts nor the manpower in place to address this issue.
