Body Problems of Lexus RX350 - part 2

While the car was parked, the front bumper came loose after a minor contact with another vehicle. Almost the same happened a year earlier while car was barely moving and rearended a small Honda car, which was not even scratched, the whole front end then had to be replaced because the screws and plastic fastners attaching the bumper to the body broke off.

Turned into parking space. Car began accelerating on its own. I applied the brakes continuously, threw the car into park to no avail. The car jolted forward, crashing into the storefront, breaking glass windows. The (approx) 2 feet of block wall stopped the car. The vehicle was not in my control in spite of all effort to bring the car to a stop. Had someone been walking on the sidewalk in front of the store (salon), I would have been powerless to keep from injuring or killing them. This was not driver error. I was fully "in the moment," and aware of what was happening.

I was stopped at a red light. The car felt like it jumped / accelerated from nowhere, and I collided with the vehicle in front of me in a rear-end collision. Damaged caused to my entire front end and the other vehicles back end. Impact speed is unknown but it felt like 5-10mph and definitely not a roll-hit or a bump of a hit. I was stopped and then the vehicle just accelerated into the car ahead of me.

I parked my car in a parking spot to do some errands and, before I could put the car in park and turn the car off, the car shot forward and went through some shrubs, across a walkway, and finally ran straight into a brick wall of one of the stores I was going to. Several bricks fell off the building and , needless to say, I was as shaken up as the building. Since there is a wide walkway between the shrubs and the building, if anyone had been going to or from the store, that person or persons would,in all likelihood, have been killed. There were several witnesses who saw my car pull into the space, come to a stop, and then fly across the shrubs, sidewalk and into the building. My foot never touched the accelerator at the time of the incident and, according to the company that repaired the car, there was no need to adjust/replace the floormat or the accelerator or the brakes.

Tl - the contact owns a 2012 Lexus Rx350. The contact stated that the rear hatch automatically closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician advised that there was no remedy for the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2010 Lexus Rx350. After crashing into a snow embankment the front bumper was cracked and loose. No one was injured. The vehicle was drivable and was not taken to the dealer; however, when the dealer was called, they informed her to bring the vehicle in for inspection. The bumper cost $900 to repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 29,000.
