36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 04/24/2013

While pulling into a parking space at approx. 3 mph and being less than a foot from where I would have fully stopped, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably as the engine raced at a very high rpm. I was able to turn my wheel quickly to the left to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. At that same time with my foot that was already on the brake and I braked very hard, then shifted into neutral and the vehicle stopped. I had a small piece of wood flooring on the back seat which came flying to the front and cut the passenger side dashboard. I just reported the issue to Lexus and they suggest I bring the vehicle to a dealership ASAP.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/07/2012

I was driving a Lexus Rx350 that we purchased used in 2011. I was pulling into a parking space in front of a local business. When I put my foot on the brake nothing happened and the vehicle sped up and ran into an office in the building where a lady was sitting at a desk. My car came to rest against her desk. I lost consciousness for a moment due to fright I think. Therefore, an ambulance was called and I was taken to a local hospital where I had to have numerous xrays. Thank goodness I had only some stiffness in my neck and some soreness. . . . The same for the lady in the office. I could have killed her or anyone in the vicinity of the office. My car was totaled by the insurance company. This was one of the most frightening experiences I have ever had.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 08/11/2012

Turned into parking space. Car began accelerating on its own. I applied the brakes continuously, threw the car into park to no avail. The car jolted forward, crashing into the storefront, breaking glass windows. The (approx) 2 feet of block wall stopped the car. The vehicle was not in my control in spite of all effort to bring the car to a stop. Had someone been walking on the sidewalk in front of the store (salon), I would have been powerless to keep from injuring or killing them. This was not driver error. I was fully "in the moment," and aware of what was happening.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 06/25/2012

On 6/25/2012- at 7:10 am, I was pulling into the parking spot for my vehicle in my hospital parking lot for a scheduled surgical case, where I work as an ob/gyn physician/surgeon . As I turned to the parking spot at the usual, approximately 2-4 miles /hr speed ( the speed at which normally one parks the car), I noticed that my accelerator pedal did not bounce back to its original position as it normally should or would. Then my rt foot was on the brakes to just stop the vehicle in my parking spot. Then just instantly the vehicle had increased speed and before I could stop the vehicle, it ran forward uncontrollably and climbed up the cement pathway and hit the tree just in front of that parking spot. I was pressing on the brakes and it did not stop the engine raving and I stopped the engine by turning it off. The front of the car is severely damaged including bent frame and the engine is pushed inside according to the body shop. I felt I had no control of the vehicle and it ran on its own. It was the scariest feeling. Imagine the damage and casualty it could have caused if it happened at the signal crossing.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 06/13/2012

I was stopped at a red light. The car felt like it jumped / accelerated from nowhere, and I collided with the vehicle in front of me in a rear-end collision. Damaged caused to my entire front end and the other vehicles back end. Impact speed is unknown but it felt like 5-10mph and definitely not a roll-hit or a bump of a hit. I was stopped and then the vehicle just accelerated into the car ahead of me.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

I parked my car in a parking spot to do some errands and, before I could put the car in park and turn the car off, the car shot forward and went through some shrubs, across a walkway, and finally ran straight into a brick wall of one of the stores I was going to. Several bricks fell off the building and , needless to say, I was as shaken up as the building. Since there is a wide walkway between the shrubs and the building, if anyone had been going to or from the store, that person or persons would,in all likelihood, have been killed. There were several witnesses who saw my car pull into the space, come to a stop, and then fly across the shrubs, sidewalk and into the building. My foot never touched the accelerator at the time of the incident and, according to the company that repaired the car, there was no need to adjust/replace the floormat or the accelerator or the brakes.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 01/25/2012

I went out to grab a bite to eat for my daughter and I came to a stop light at a major intersection. I received the turn arrow so I accelerated thru the turn and then punched the gas to make it thru the next light that will turn red if you don't give it a little gas to get thru it. I make it thru the light and get in the right lane to slow down to make my turn and my brakes don't work and my car starts accelerating on its own. I have no control of the speed so I throw the car in neutral and keep slamming the brakes while the brake malfunction light appears. I’m not sure how my car slows down and I make a right turn into a parking lot and my engine is still sounding like it is accelerating and I am in neutral. My car rolled to a stop, I shut it down and called the Lexus line. The had a towing company out within an hour and the tow truck driver told me this is at least the 10th time he has hauled this type of car for the same thing.

At approx. 8:05 am on Thursday, December 2nd I was stopped behind a school bus that was picking up children at the intersection (1-2) min wait) I gave the car enough gas to make the right hand turn onto crockers lake blvd. Which is only approx. 150-200 ft in length. I estimate the speed was between 10-15 mph when I began braking to make the left hand turn into the citation club apartments when I noticed the vehicle was not slowing. I pressed the brake pedal harder and the car continued to pull against the brakes. As I approached the end of crookers lake blvd I had both feet on the brakes and the car was slowing, however the engine was "screaming" and the tachometer was approaching to "red-line". I managed to make the left hand turn and as the car slowed I shifted it into park to stop it. The engine was screaming so I turned the ignition to off position. Failure Date: 04/09/2008

I drive a 2007 Lexus RX 350 which was purchased and I have noticed that periodically it surges forward when my foot is on the brakes. It happens a lot even in slow traffic. I first noticed it when backing out of my driveway a few times. At that time I got so frightened that I had to check if I made a mistake and pressed the brakes instead, but my foot was definitely in the brakes. I travel on an expressway to get to work in the mornings and quite a few times I notice the surge, but usually I am driving slowly. In general I'm not a fast driver. I mentioned it to the servicer of my car, they drive it and indicates that they did not find a problem. It does not happen all the time, only periodically. It is very frightening because it is so unpredictable.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/14/2007

2007 Lexus Rx350. Response time from gas pedal action to car responding is slow (about 2-3 sec. ) I never know when the car is going to start/stop moving. The start delay is constant. Acceleration reduction is also 2-3 sec. And infrequent. The most recent prolonged acceleration event is documented in your approximate incident date spaces. If I need to try to get out of another drivers path and step on the gas in order to "move", the rear end squeals and control is sacrificed. Two different Lexus dealers have seemed unconcerned and have not even documented my complaints.
