The 2005 Lincoln Ls left the road, hit a ditch, and overturned several times in a field. The vehicle overturned side to side. The airbags did not deploy during the crash. The driver seat and the passenger seat we're both occupied at the time of the crash. We do not believe that the accident was caused by in a faulty mechanisms in the vehicle, however, despite multiple impacts during the accident, the airbags never deployed. The injuries sustained in the crash could have been prevented, or minimized, if the airbags would have deployed as they should have. The horn and cruise control just suddenly quit working does a master automotive technician ase-certified I decided to check it out before I contacted the dealer the problem is in the clock spring the clock spring has failed without an accident or anything to cause it to file this seems like it should be an issue that's a national highway traffic and safety administration should be interested in as it is a safety issue because of clock spring that will fail without stop the airbag it says car is in an accident the airbags will not deploy because of clock spring is defective I have a better mechanic for 32 years this is the first time I've ever seen a vehicle that the clockspring failed in without an accident because the failure I'm ashamed of Ford Lincoln Mercury installing such a substandard component that is important as a clock spring I believe this is an issue that should be fixed by Ford I'm not buying me or any other mechanic or any private owner.

Now the warning light / diagnostic code flashes at start-up and shows the airbags will not deploy or failed and the airbags are disabled. The steering wheel clockspring was diagnosed by the mechanic, as it is a common problem with the make/model of the car. Air bag light went on. After internet research, I learned that there may be a short under the driver's seat that causes the airbag to not deploy.
While traveling at 40 mph on flat, smooth two lane roadway the driver side curtain and side seat airbags deployed striking driver on left shoulder and facial area. There was no side impact or rough road prior to deployment. Driver was able to keep control of vehicle and move to berm. Driver suffered soft tissue trauma to left shoulder, upper arm and face. Side curtain airbag damaged interior roof header upon deployment. Driver seat side airbag appears to have not fully deployed and expanded inside the seat ripping out a 3 foot area of stitching and tearing the leather seating material in the immediate area. Contacted Ford motor company and they refused responsibility.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Ls. The air bag indicator illuminated on the vehicle's dashboard. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on March 8, 2007 for a diagnostic test. The test results determined that the clock spring failed and was replaced on March 17, 2007. On March 29, 2007, the air bag indicator illuminated again. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer on March 31, 2007 for another diagnostic test. The failure mileage was 86,000. The consumer stated that on April 4, 2007 he was involved in an accident and upon impact the airbags did not deploy. Due to the accident there were severe damages on the front and left side of the car. Prior to the accident, the consumer complained about the air bag light being on. Update 04/30/tr.
The caller's vehicle was involved in an accident while traveling 25 mph when another vehicle pulled out in front attempting to turn left. The caller's vehicle hit the front corner of the other vehicle. Upon impact, both driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was totaled. Caller's wife sustained injuries.
