37 Body problem of the 2014 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

I parked my vehicle on a slight incline in parking lot, when shortly thereafter vehicle rolled away and crashed into a gate. I had parked the vehicle walked in the back of the vehicle and went inside to conduct my business. The fact that the roll back did not happen as I parked indicates that the car was properly parked. Being perplexed as to why my parked vehicle suddenly rolled back I then discovered that the Ford CO. Had a re-call on some of their Lincoln Mkx 2014's. My vehicle may have been manufactured outside of their current recall period; however this does not dictate that my vehicle did not experience the same mal-function. My situation matches exactly that which is described in their announcement consequence summary. I am confident that this situation is exactly as described in Ford recall 14s10/ campaign number 14v393000. However the Ford CO. Continues to deny that this was a result of their re-call problem . I have sent an official letter outlining my situation.

39 Body problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Door ajar (driver's side) indicator illuminates when door is closed. Multiple occurrences of this issue are documented on internet. When this occurs the following systems are affected: * door locks - cannot be locked from driver or passenger automatic door lock button. When attempted all door locks automatically unlock again. Auto locking safety feature is effectively disabled. Work around is to manually lock all doors. * interior lighting - dome lights (interior lighting) will not turn off until vehicle is moving at 10 mph or faster when door ajar issue occurs. Visibility while maneuvering at low speeds at night is impaired and increases potential for accidents in areas such as parking lots. No known workaround. Additionally, when remotely locking car, marker lights and interior lights remain on, unknown if excessive battery drain may occur. * security system - keyless (touch) locking of automobile does not work when this issue occurs. Using remote lock activates the alarm system. This causes random false alarm activations. Security system cannot be used effectively. Work around is to keep car unlocked. Due to the number known systems affected by open or closed state of the car doors, it is possible that other systems including safety systems could be affected by intermittent door ajar sensor failure while the vehicle is in use.

40 Body problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/02/2013

Our vehicle was involved in a rear end crash while stopped at a pedestrain cross walk. The visual damage to our Lincoln Mkx was the exhaust system and rear bumper. The non-visual damage was the brake power booster. The power surge from the rear end impact while the brakes were engaged caused the brake power booster to fail. Both my mechanic and the local Ford dealer confirm that the failure of the brake system was caused by the damage related to the rear end impact in the accident. The local Ford dealer has seen multiple vehicles brake power boosters fail due to rear end collisions yet the insurance company denyed my claim for repair to this system. The failure of this system is a very hazardous condition as it is extremely difficult to brake the vehicle with out this system working correctly.

41 Body problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/12/2011

The rear passenger door latch mechanism closed without the door actually being closed. This caused a false positive condition for the "door ajar" warning system. I thought that the door was secure, however the door was in fact not latched to the vehicle. My eight year old daughter was sitting in the seat. Were it not for the perception of my wife who suspected that the door was insecure I would have been driving with a door that would open while the car was moving. This false positive condition is caused by the fact that Ford has placed the sensor that tests for the door being closed on the latch mechanism rather than on the vehicle body. As our circumstances demonstrate the simple fact of the door latch being closed does not insure that the door is actually secured to the vehicle body. While no injuries occurred in our incident the potential for a serious injury is obvious. Had the door actually opened my child may have easily fallen out of a moving vehicle. The driver of the car must know with absolute certainty that all doors are truly secured. Testing the latch for being closed is not a sufficient test for the closure of the doors.
