Car stalls and looses power in 5-10 seconds while driving. Once stopped, the car will restart and drive. The problem indicator "yellow wrench" tells the dealership nothing relating to the problem. This problem is life threatening because it often happens while traveling at high rates of speed (interstates) in environments with lots of traffic. Since the car begins immediate deceleration, getting to safety without getting into an accident in these circumstances, is frightening at best. On wed, 4/17/19, I was traveling on I-40, 5 lanes of traffic at 5:05 p. M. (I was in the leftmost lane) and my car stalled. By the time I got to the 2nd lane from the shoulder, I had almost been hit by a speeding car and an 18-wheeler. I was not able to get any momentum to get off the road quickly because the car had no power. This is a life threatening problem!!! I found many reports of the same thing occurring in Lincoln Mkx's (predominantly 2016's) that relate to a defective electronic throttle body, need for updated software, and/or the purge body. Lincoln indicates they cannot/will not fix this issue because they can't get a maintenance code to confirm the diagnosis. This situation could easily cost lives unnecessarily!! my reports of this issue are not being taken seriously (dealership & Lincoln Ford motor company). Since there is no recall associated to my VIN, they attest there is no issue unless I can provide it. I can't prove it because I never know when it will happen. They have kept my car for a week and drive but couldn't replicate. There needs to something much more aggressive that is mandated to be done before lives are lost. It is my hope you will be able to assist. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the electronic throttle body failed on two occasions. The vehicle was repaired at the dealer where the throttle body was replaced but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
Purchased vehicle used in November 2015. Noticed every time I put gasoline in the vehicle, it would not start on the first attempt. Months later, check in light come on, took vehicle to a Ford delership (in 2016) and was told nothing was wrong with the vehicle. As time went on, the issue with refueling and engin light countied. In 2017 while driving on the highway in rush hour traffic, a warning light appeared (low oil engin pressure) and the vehicle stalled. Dealership said it was the throttle body and replaced it. About a week later, engin light appeared and one month later received same low oil pressure and the vehicle stalled out again while driving. Vehicle has not been repaired, currently in the shop.
2016 Lincoln Mkx has stalled numerous times. We left home and had driven about a mile in our subdivision when I slowed for and stopped at stop sign. The engine shuddered and shook, engine revolutions slowed down. Sped up, slowed down and engine quit. The message, "full accessory power active¿ displayed on the dash and my wife got a pad and pencil and copied it down for me. This was the second time that has happened and evidently was the same message displayed when the engine quit while we were on vacation in new orleans. Checked the internet and found several instances to this happening due to a computer glitch. Ford has known about this problem for some time. Do we have to get killed before Ford corrects their faulty computers? to make matters worse, I had scheduled and appointment with my dealer, drove 31 miles, only to find out the service department had no knowledge of my appointment. Spoke with the service manager on 21 July and he told me he would send me an email by the end of the week. Well the end of the week is here and I've not heard anything yet. It is my understanding that the Mkx is a glorified Ford edge and that the stalling problems were on-going for several years.

The car has stalled 6 or 7 times when attempting to park. The dealership seems to have fixed that problem. A more serious problem occurred on June 7 while we were on vacation in new orleans la. Driving down a busy street, I slowed for traffic and the engine quit. I was able to move to the right and avoid an accident. Restarted car and continued driving. As you may expect, my wife is very concerned that this may happen again and she or I will not have time to get out of the way of approaching traffic. My daughter did some research and found this site that lists many similar complaints with other Ford> suggest you check out the website. . Read more...

Vehicle misfire and stall while driving caused by damaged power control module (pcu) and faulty/damaged ignition coil. Service bullitn issued: TSB 14-0059 mil on with dtcs - p0351, p0352, p0353, p0354, p0355, and/or p0356 - built on or before 3/1/2008 publication date: March 20, 2014.
On Monday (labor day), I was driving and started to make a right turn when the car stalled. I was beside a gas stationed so I managed to pull in (very hard to steer) and I noticed the “low oil pressure” icon on. I came to a stop and pushed the start button and the car started and drove without any more problems. My husband checked the oil when I got home and it is full. While at long lewis Ford in hoover, this morning to have it checked we heard a woman describe the same scenario with her Ford. She stated it stalled about 3 or 4 times on her while driving. I feel this is a very serious issue and sounds similar to the issue one of the other automobile models had causing death and injury.
