I am reporting a serious mechanical defect in my 2008 Lincoln Mkx involving the internal water pump. This vehicle uses the Ford 3. 5l v6 cyclone engine, where the water pump is mounted inside the engine and driven by the timing chain. My water pump failed unexpectedly, causing coolant to leak into the engine oil. This design flaw poses a serious safety risk due to potential engine failure while driving. This could lead to the engine seizing without warning, loss of power steering and braking, and increased risk of a crash. Ford and Lincoln are aware of this issue, and many owners have reported similar failures, but no recall has been issued. Repairs cost thousands of dollars and often require full engine replacement. This is a known design defect that puts drivers and passengers in danger. I urge NHTSA to investigate and mandate a recall before someone is seriously injured or worse. This failure is unpredictable, dangerous, and affects many vehicles using this engine platform.

My 2007 Lincoln Mkx was in drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local pd, ems and fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from drive into reverse and pull out of the parking space.

Six months ago I had to replace the catalytic converter on my car - per the dealership. I have just been told that the 2nd one needs replacing. My car is under 8 years old and less than 90,000 miles. The replacement cost of the 1st one was 2399. 30. The 2nd one is 2464. 62. Replacement is required by state and federal governments and essential for protecting the environment - and yet who can afford to have them fixed? all information online indicates they should last at least 10 years, if not indefinitely. I have been driving for 50 years and never had to replace one, and now two.

While driving on sept 22 2023 I hit a pothole and immediately felt a change in the pressure in the gas pedal, upon braking I noticed a loss of pressure in the brake system. Vehicle was slow to respond to applicsation of brake pedal to where I had to move my seaty forward so that I could depress the pedal to the floor ( im 4'10" and could not apply the brake to the degree needed to stop my vehicle from the seat position I usually drive in). When pressing the brake pedal it felt as if it wanted to engage the abs system but was not doing so and I would have to press the pedal to the floor which then would bring me to a jolting stop. I don't know how to explain it but there was also a differnce in the feeling of pressure when pushing on the gas pedal so whatever happened affected pressure in both the fuel and brake syatem foot pedals. I have not had the vehicle inspected as of writing this, nor have I reported it to police as I did not experience a collisionbeing that it happened a short distance from my house abnd the vehicle has not been driven since the issue began yesterday morning sept 22 2023.

Loss of pressure in brakes and fuel foot pedals after hitting a pothole. Pressure was so low in brakes I had to press brake pedal to floor to come to a jerking stop. It felt as if there was no brake at all as it was slow to brake coming to an abrupt stop once pedal floored. I do not have documentation from service center as I have not had it looked at since the issue happened yesterday morning, and I have no police report at this time as there was no crash.
Both passengers door locks say the door is open.
In 2019 the rear liftgate on my 2016 Lincoln Mkx would open correctly and then immediately start automatically closing causing whomever was standing at the rear of the vehicle to abruptly jump out of the way of the closing hatch to avoid serious injury. I am a 73 year old woman and my husband is 75. If we were unable to get out of the way of this malfunctioning closing hatch, this could result in serious injury or death. This issue was repaired under warranty by the dealer on December 19, 2019. Yesterday on April 28, 2023, this malfunctioning rear hatch issue started again almost caused serious injury to my young niece.
Catalytic converter internally failed on April 12th 2023 based on an initial check engine light part# f2gz-5e213-f converter assembly under esp warranty @ 74,408. Returned back for check engine light 22, 888 miles later on 1/31/24 for check engine light . I was advised that although it was determined a part failure of catalytic converter , that it was my responsibility to pay for 2 catalytic converters, water pump and radiator for cost of $11k. Contacted Lincoln conceirge they were unable to provide assistance .
When I utilize my ac or heat without pressing a certain button after a while I start smelling a burning smell coming through the vents. When I'm outside the vehicle I smell it as well. The smell is hard to pinpoint. A dealership told me that maybe I needed to change my air filters. However the burning smell still would happen just the same. Then they checked to see if anything(such as plastic or anything) was stuck to any components that get hot to no avail. But something is wrong and it's scary. Also my vehicle has a very rough idle which sometimes can feel like a rumble. A tune up was suggested and complete and I still have the same experience. I love my vehicle but growing tired.
The vehicle liftgate no longer properly latches and has opened suddenly. The interior audible warning sound continuously alerts and the interior lights sometimes fail to turn-off. The 'liftgate ajar' warning light remains on. This problem seems similar to the recall on 2011 Lincoln Mkx.
Unknown/uncertain as to why the floor is wet on right rear passenger. Dealer unable to detect why floor board is wet. I need answers because this is a health risk/ lungs risk for my family and myself due to questionable mold may probably grow from the wet carpet and wet spell.
Car just went from complete cool to over heating and engine light to flash. Checked to make sure I had fluids. All full. While I had car turned off turned it back on after 15 minutes and car went straight to overheating again. Had a garage look at my car, there’s a 3 cylinder misfire on just the one side of the engine. They agree and don’t understand why this happened or how.
Vehicle loses power, steering and braking without warning. Orange wrench alert illuminates. Car must be shut off and restarted. Very dangerous condition. Several other complaints online. This has happened twice, luckily at low speeds and little traffic.

Lately when I put the car in park it still beeps and say place in park. I have to take it in and out of park to get it to know that it is in park. The other day I put it in park and got out of the car with it still running and then it started rolling up the driveway. It was in the park position but it was moving up the hill like it was in reverse.
I have had fairly issues with overheating and have had several repairs done including: 12/29/2019 - radiator fan assembly and electric fan motor replacement 10/02/2021 - replace thermostat and gasket & replace coolant recovery tank 8/9/2022 - installed module, control, sensors and fuel filler (all done with regards to presumably fixing the overheating and rpm fluctuation while overheating) I paid $3k for the August 2022 repairs and they told me they could not replicate the issue but believe that the repairs are related to the problems I am experiencing. I use my car to drive to periodically drive to another town (60 miles away) and then to drive to the airport for work (about 25 miles). After August, I took my car on the 60 mile drive and 30 miles in, the car started overheating. I called the Ford dealership and they told me to check the radiator (it was full and slightly bubbling). The idea of driving a vehicle that is not safe (not going to make it to my destination after repairs intended to do so) is terrible. When I got back home (terrified after having to drive the same car back 60 miles later that evening), I took the car back to the same Ford dealership. After a couple of days, they told me they think it is the internal water pump. When I asked them if that would guarantee the fix, they said no because no codes are showing up and there are no other signs of overheating (so it should be the internal water pump). This does not seem right to me. The car has electronic sensors everywhere and the dealership put me back on the road with a car that started to overheat within 30 miles.
No sensor on this year of Lincoln however front blind spot between windshield and rear view outside mirror is horrible which resulted in my accident 2 days ago. . . I have 2 witnesses that can confirm such difficulty seeing while turning.

Bad apim module.
Vehicle (SUV) floor board and truck had standing water from unknown source. Suspect rear hatch and/or glass roof design allows for environmental contamination to enter. Water travels down to floor and pools. For example, spare tire was found to be submerged. Rear seat and trunk carpeting were moist (saturated) to the touch. Concern: if water in the vehicle is undetected and is allowed to pool for long periods of time, three things will happen: 1. Accelerated corrosion and loss of function for any electrical wiring. 2. Standing water can develop mold, impacting air quality through long term and repeated exposure. Impact of vehicle occupants health. (in our instance, mom & newborn) 3. Accelerated corrosion of vehicle internal structure. For example, seat fasteners. Item was discovered by third party service center and dealership is investigating root cause now. Dealer commented this is a problem more common with other models in the same family but not the model of this vehicle. No warning or indicator of the problem was present.
Our Lincoln Mkx had a failure of its power brake booster showing no warning indicator light on the dashboard. The brakes felt like they had air in the lines and excessive pumping was needed to build pressure on the brake pads which eventually needed to be pushed close to the floor in order to stop. We made an appointment at the Ford dealership. But, since it was a long distance from our home, and not to put us in danger of getting into an accident, we made it to the closest brake repair business we could find that was close to our home. It was found that our power brake booster & brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. We are the 2nd owners of this vehicle & we learned that there was an a customer satisfaction program 13n02 - supplement #1 for certain 2010-2013 model year Mkx (& edge) vehicles that had an extended warranty coverage on brake boosters. Our car VIN # falls in the timeframe of this. Moreover, when the vehicle was purchased from the Ford/Lincoln dealership, it had 33,341 miles on it & it now only has 51,920. The customer satisfaction program repairs the issue with the power brake booster at no cost within 10 years & on cars up to 150,000 miles. We had to pay out of pocket for our repair & need assistance in getting reimbursement for this expense. This unsafe occurrence also lead to having to replace a stop lamp switch on 02/4/22 which failed & we were charged again (in less than a month's time) for another switch. It was also found on that repair that the booster mount on the inside under the dashboard was not tight & it had a stripped fastener. Now it is being recommended that a removal of the brake booster & master cylinder be inspected for proper installation and that a cut-out of that stripped fastener be done. Access to this requires removal of the instrument panel & steering column to access the firewall to get to the fastener. Invoices related to all this are attached for review except for the last noted recommendations.
A/c and heater control; a/c blows cool on passenger side and blows hot on driver side.
Dual climate control only heating on passenger side driver’s side is not heating it has 115000 it’s a 2007 Mkx it is also leaking fluid from the ptu the car is only 10 months old this is ridiculous Ford should be issuing recalls for these as there are many people that have the same complaints for the faulty parts someone is going to get hurt if Ford doesnt recall these parts.
The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. In addition, the brake pedal needed to be pumped several times for the brakes to operate. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and then to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was not performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Vehicle leased for 36 months December, 2016. 3 miles on it. At end of lease then purchased the vehicle with a Lincoln premier warranty. June 2021 the passenger side dashboard began to lift from its mounting and bubbling up and sort of waffeling across the top of the dashboard then migrating toward the airbag assembly. Complaint made to Lincoln June 2021. Instructed to take it to a local Lincoln dealer. Dealer indicated repair would cost some 5 to 6 thousand dollars and that it was not covered under any warranty. Current vehicle mileage: 17,200. Making things worse is that the airbag is integral to the dashboard. Further lifting and/or peeling off would necessarily present a serious safety and possibly functional hazard, let alone cosmetic features. This is a luxury SUV (Lincoln Mkx black label) costing approximately 75 thousand dollars, by no means chump change. A verbal complaint to Lincoln customer service late August 2021. It was indicated this item was not covered under warranty and be a total cost to the owner. Not good enough! my position is that is was a manufacturing defect. This whole issue was covered in a certified letter to Lincoln customer service September 15, 2021; as yet no reply or resolution from Lincoln.

I opened my car door from the inside drivers seat and heard a loud pop. My door handle doesn't seem broken, but will not open from the inside now. The car was in park when it happened.
My passenger rear door will not unlock. Tou can't open from outside or inside. My grandson got stuck. I had to have him use a didn't door to get out. If there was a accident he would have been stuck in there. It was stationary.
The driver's door is closed, but the 'open door' alert remains on, as well as the interior lights & exit lights. Multiple door closures, soft, slamming, park, restart. No resolution. Ramdomly turns off , but has stayed on overnight, & in parking lots, being unaware it stayed on. Also at these times, the auto unlock does not work, I have to use the keypad to open the driver's door.
Nhtsa 19v-809 battery cable may chafe & cause electrical short.
My vehicle a 2012 Lincoln Mkx with under 32,000 miles sporadically when shifted to park the gear shift does not show the vehicle has been set to park. & a message appears instructing to "shift the vehicle to park".

While driving on the highway, brake pedal goes to the floor board. Replaced rotors brake pads and calipers. A couple of weeks later, pedal goes to floorboard again. Replaced master cylinder, but was told it was probably the abs booster. Needs to be a recall. This is the 60 th complaint. Also back up camera is upside down.
When you hit the gas pedal you lose all acceleration. You have to drift to a complete stop, turn the car off and then restart it. Have almost been hit multiple times and once on the highway traveling about 50 mph. Thankfully traffic was not heavy and I was able to get my car stopped and restarted before the possibility of someone running into us. There was no shoulder to pull off on because of construction. It was terrifying. It happens randomly and there is no warning as to when. A vehicle in this condition is not safe to drive and Lincoln seems to not know what the problem is so they send people home in their defective vehicles because as they say they can't get the problem to duplicate so they told me that there is nothing wrong with my car and sent me home now twice. Trust me there is something wrong with my car and many others and it is a huge safety hazard!!!.
My backup camera has stopped working and turned black just like other Lincoln models that are being recalled and I believe my car should be included in the recal. . . Also my transmission leaks fluid just like other Lincoln's that are being recalled for the same issue, I feel like mine should also be included in that recall as well.
Had all air filters replaced and air unit replaced due to over heating but still when turn air on and on seats jumps or loses throttle and lights go off and at times seats re adjust while driving, keeps happing can't figure it out.
Door ajar warning comes on despite all doors being closed securely. This causes any number of issues including interior lights coming on which is not safe at night, entry alarm going off at any hour of the day or night, and excessive drain on battery. The problem occurs both while in motion and while stationary.
