Equipment Problems of Lincoln MKX - part 2

My vehicle a 2012 Lincoln Mkx with under 32,000 miles sporadically when shifted to park the gear shift does not show the vehicle has been set to park. & a message appears instructing to "shift the vehicle to park".

While driving on the highway, brake pedal goes to the floor board. Replaced rotors brake pads and calipers. A couple of weeks later, pedal goes to floorboard again. Replaced master cylinder, but was told it was probably the abs booster. Needs to be a recall. This is the 60 th complaint. Also back up camera is upside down.

When you hit the gas pedal you lose all acceleration. You have to drift to a complete stop, turn the car off and then restart it. Have almost been hit multiple times and once on the highway traveling about 50 mph. Thankfully traffic was not heavy and I was able to get my car stopped and restarted before the possibility of someone running into us. There was no shoulder to pull off on because of construction. It was terrifying. It happens randomly and there is no warning as to when. A vehicle in this condition is not safe to drive and Lincoln seems to not know what the problem is so they send people home in their defective vehicles because as they say they can't get the problem to duplicate so they told me that there is nothing wrong with my car and sent me home now twice. Trust me there is something wrong with my car and many others and it is a huge safety hazard!!!.

My backup camera has stopped working and turned black just like other Lincoln models that are being recalled and I believe my car should be included in the recal. . . Also my transmission leaks fluid just like other Lincoln's that are being recalled for the same issue, I feel like mine should also be included in that recall as well.

Had all air filters replaced and air unit replaced due to over heating but still when turn air on and on seats jumps or loses throttle and lights go off and at times seats re adjust while driving, keeps happing can't figure it out.

Door ajar warning comes on despite all doors being closed securely. This causes any number of issues including interior lights coming on which is not safe at night, entry alarm going off at any hour of the day or night, and excessive drain on battery. The problem occurs both while in motion and while stationary.

Passenger door ajar alert comes on randomly, even when the passenger door hasn't been opened or shut in days. It has happened when the vehicle is stationary and when it is in motion.

I was driving on 295 heading to foster ri. I was driving on the highway going about 55 mph when my SUV started to buck then the check engine light started blinking and my SUV wouldn't even do 40 mph so I got off the highway and pulled into a parking lot on hartford Ave johnston waited for a tow truck while waiting my car stalled and wouldn't start back up. If I didn't get off the highway when I did I would of been involved in a car crash because I couldn't even do the speed limit. I feel this should be a recall because it's considered a safety issue to me. I had my car towed to tasca they said the diagnostic computer said it was the pcm, might have burnt out the coils and spark plugs. I feel this is very dangerous what if I wasn't where I could get off the highway it could of caused a bad accident or even death. So I'm asking can this please be a recall so nobody jeopardize their life.

Door ajar sensor stays on even though doors are closed. Doors does not lock and lights stays on draining the battery.

Touch screen not working.

Car is getting carbon monoxide in the cabin of the car with a strong sulfur smell, especially after hard acceleration. Car is back at Lincoln for the second time trying to repair the problem. I believe the car is back drafting the fumes into the car at the rear of vehicle.

I'm getting exhaust smell coming out of vents. Making me sick & giving me headaches. . Took it to dealer did nothing, replaced cabin filte ? happens when driving but not always. Been going on for weeks. Now it's making bad noise under car when I start driving for about 5 minutes then stops. .

Has carbon monoxide in the cabin on highway driving . I have a CO meter as I have had the car in to dealer 7 times for same issue & it is still not fixed. They now claim it is ok but still have 15 ppm in 10 minutes of driving on highway and level still rising. They say this is an acceptable level. I open windows & CO level drops to 2ppm. Then close windows & meter reads again in 15 min 15ppm. This car is not safe. & Lincoln will not take it back. Please contact me & take car for testing if you wish I have 3 months left on lease . Then someone new will die driving this not knowing this issue. This has been going on for 2. 5 years does not have issue in city driving meter does not move over 3ppm . Only on highway driving. Even more when climbing grades . Levels go up to 15ppm in 5-8 min. Then of course I open windows. Last fix 8-15-19 they claim to have fixed a bad back door seal. Did not change levels when driving on highway same .

Front passenger door ajar warning light. Dome light stays lit and unable to lock doors automatically. . I received a recall notice for the driver side but not passenger side. Also the recall has mileage limits. It started only periodically in 2019, but now is constant.

Subject : getting a raw deal ! just bought 2009 Lincoln Mkx. Problems are surmounting quickly. Fumes in cabin recall is connected to transmission failure in fords, Lincolns, Mazda years 2007 - 2013 approximately as reported. The fuel pump fails and is not easily replaceable. Ford is at fault for poorly designing a $200 part behind a "timing chain" which requires removal before you can reach the fuel pump to replace - costing the customer exorbitant amount of money to repair.

The rear camera works intermittently. At times the view is upside down or right side up or black.

Brake booster issue.

When vehicle was in park on the side of a street, it slipped out of park and rolled down a hill into a tree damaging the front bumper and hood. There was $6500 in damage.

Transmission shudders at various shift points but mostly during slight increase in acceleration between 40 to 55 mph.

Despite minimal use of the vehicle, exacerbated by reduced mobility during the covid-19 pandemic declared by the who on March 11, 2020, we've discovered this longstanding issue, indicating it likely existed since purchase. The remediation process requires complete removal of the contaminated carpeting and padding, thorough cleaning of the underlying metal, and replacement with new materials to ensure safety. Efforts to resolve this with Ford/Lincoln have been met with inadequate support, not covering the extent of necessary repairs. Attached documentation and photographs outline the severity of the issue, the health implications, and our struggle for a satisfactory response from the manufacturer. We urge the NHTSA to consider these factors and our vehicle's low mileage as evidence of the defect's pre-existence and the pandemic's impact on its delayed detection. Immediate action is necessary to address this safety hazard.

Recall # 14v393000 is with make, model & year, but not VIN #. Starting a month ago, the car rolls when in park especially on uneven pavement. Should you lose power, as happens with this problem going 70 mph, it will result in deadly crash. Contacted Lincoln customer service representative desiree who refused to pay for inspection to see if halfshaft and linkshaft are the problem. Considering this could result in loss of life in deadly accident, you would think they would gladly pay for the inspection. I am suppose to pay $175 for this. Can you help? she wouldn't even tell me where my car was made. I found it was made at Ford of canada, ltd. At oakville plant in 2013.

Carbon dioxide come into cab every time you press on gas. I have carbon dioxide monitors to prove it happens Lincoln has tried to fix it 3 or 4 times . There answer ,they cannot fix problem this problem has showed up in other vehicles . The engine is 6 cylinder model.

I was in back of my Mkx in driveway of my sisters home. I was trying to get the tailgate door to open and it wouldn't open. I tried three times to open with the release button. It would not open. So I went opened and stood at the door to press the release button from inside twice and it still wouldn't open the tailgate. As my sister was coming out of her home she was yelling for me to move move because I had not noticed that the Mkx was rolling out of driveway. With me still standing outside of it. I finally just feel because I couldn't keep up or jump in to stop it. I fell to cement in middle of street. My sister kept yelling for me to move as the Mkx was rolling and the wheels were turning towards my legs. Thank god it didn't run over me. This was a horrible and scary experience. My sister got in the Mkx to get it out of the street. She said it was in reverse. It was in park for a fact as I was in the back for minutes trying to open the tailgate. This happened on 1426 peppertree ln 77015 where my sister lives.

The gear shifter is in park but the car does not show that it is in park so it's saying that you need to shift it into park which appears to be unsafe if it is showing red on the gear changer mechanism on the screen and that the vehicle is properly in park.

Takara recall - torque converter failure causing transmission issues which result in replacement. Found several reports online. Car shutters horribly at 40 mph until 50 mph.

I have been having issues with my breaks being extremely hard to press and at times not hardly working at all and when engaged it makes a hissing sound and I have come across bringing it to the shop it is the master cylinder for the breaks and or the break booster and then came acrossed my year of this vehicle has a recall on these things so I need to know about how to get these things fixed under the recall.

This car has been in the shop four times for loose screws in the dash board rolls around this is going in a curve on hitting the brakes. Purchase the car the end of may 2018.

While driving highway speeds of 65-70 mph I can hear air coming from the top of the window where the felt meets the window. Unable to put had at window to see if air can be felt coming out window while driving.

I purchased this 2013 Lincoln Mkx in October of 2017. It was a used vehicle but appeared to be in excellent condition. In April, the sunroof flipped back and chipped the back glass of the panoramic roof. Considering this is a known problem regarding Ford and their sunroofs, my insurance refuses to cover it. I am a single mother of 3 and just wanted something nice for once. The damage costs more than the cars trade in value. I have had bad luck with Ford in the past. I should have known better.

The sunroof of my 2011 Lincoln Mkx , exploded while I was driving on the 401 in canada. (I am us citizen). A portion of the roof must have blown off onto cars behind me. The sound was similar to that of a gun being fired at close range. It was a Friday, mid-afternoon, and the start of a 3-day holiday, the freeway was bumper to bumper. Shattered glass rained in on myself, my 14 year old son and his friend. I maneuvered to the side of the freeway. At this point, we cleaned as much glass off from ourselves and out of the car as we could. I am so thankful, that the shade happened to be closed, I can't imagine the glass that would have fellen on us if it hadn't of been. We careful cleaned glass off from the shade however, there was a small rim of the glass still attached. With flashers on, I slowly managed to drive the car off an exit, while the sunroof shade continued to tear, fragments of glass continued to fall on us. Since I was in a foreign country, I did not have cell service, this is why the decision was made to drive the vehicle and not call a tow truck. I feel that we were very fortunate that we happened to be fairly close to a Ford dealership, 5-10 miles. At this time, the dealership is still assessing the damage. I have had to rent a vehicle and will be making arrangements to travel back to canada in a weeks time to hopefully, reclaim my vehicle. The insurance claim has not been made yet due to the unknown amount of damage at this time however, my insurance agent is aware of the incident. After researching, it is my understanding that Ford had had a class action suit filled against them due to similar incidents. I will be contacting Lincoln once I return back to the states. Photos, insurance claims, rental forms and cost of repairs will be uploaded at a later date.

Strong smell of exhaust leakage coming from rear of vehicle when accelerating. Other owner of Mkx had same problem and dealer has corrected.

Diverside door ajar light on even when door closed, when vehicle stationary or in motion.

My vehicle is affected by the takata recall. I was initially notified in or before June 2016. I see via the airbagrecall. Com site that a remedy still is not available. I can't say whether this is a reasonable amount of time or not and I am looking for an expert opinion or an update. I received a post card in the mail today about the bankruptcy filing and went online to find more information.

The abs hydraulic unit module has gone out in my vehicle. The module controls the abs breaking system. As of today 10/18/17, the abs breaks are not working on my vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they said it would $1,000 to replace the module. Lincoln will not stand behind the safety of their customers or their vehicles and fix this safety problem. Recalls on this same module have been done on the Ford edge, which is the same vehicle. However, Lincoln says that recall was VIN specific and does not apply to the Mkx. This is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed by the NHTSA.
