4 Air Bag problem of the 2017 Lincoln MKZ

Failure Date: 05/25/2025

I purchased my 2017 Lincoln Mkz select on November 11, 2024. The vehicle was determined to need a new engine, per murgado Lincoln of chicago. They had my car for over 48 days while putting in a new engine. After this was completed the car had to be sent back due to a mistake the mechanics made by not attaching a gasket properly. After this, I began experiencing odd noises underneath the hood and throughout the vehicle; delayed timing belt in both acceleration and deceleration, and so forth. I was then involved in a hit-and-run car accident (not my fault). All side airbags deployed and my passenger side rear wheel is destroyed. I had this car assessed just a few days ago by a certified auto care company who said I needed a completely new transmission and that this car is not street legal at the moment. . . Insurance is not helping me at all.

Varsity Ford Lincoln is refusing to fix open recalls. My vehicle has been sitting with them for 90 days. Lincoln is refusing to help. Now the dealership in a letter is stating they are not going to fix the open recalls because I have to pay them money to fix my brakes before they'll do that in a text. They are extorting me.

7 Air Bag problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKZ

Failure Date: 11/13/2024

Car is inoperable due to the brake issue and airbag issue. Lincoln refuses to assist with getting it towed or working with the dealership. They will say that they do these things or are trying to help but they do not. This has been going on for 5 years. Dealerships will not fix the vehicle because the vehicle is too old they are telling me. The car is sitting and cannot be driven and nobody will help. I can't sell it I can't drive it I can't use it I can't do anything.

8 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Lincoln MKZ

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

In the middle of June 2024 (about [xxx]), my wife was driving her car, and pressed the horn button to warn a driver who had pulled out right in front of her. The horn failed to sound, and has not worked since then when pursuing the horn button. The horns themselves do sound when pressing the key fob to locate the car. Pressing the horn button has never worked since the time of this report, and several instances have occurred with other drivers needing to be forewarned of hazards. The problem has been verified by the husband, but not yet by the dealer, police or insurance representative. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Air Bag problem of the 2017 Lincoln MKZ

Failure Date: 01/07/2023

Failed components: sunroof drains become clogged and overflow into trunk well, causing electrical shortage, mold/mildew, and water damage along headliner and side airbags. Safety risk: electrical shortage causes fire risk, and mold mildew build up in car for asthmatic makes it damaging for air intake myself and others inside vehicle. Side airbags at risk as over flooding runs down pillars along side wiring. Reproduced: this has occurred twice, in my 2013 & 2017 Lincoln Mkz. No documentation is listed in either manual for maintenance around drains or possible flooding risk. Symptoms: shorted electrical components for audio systems, check engine light, putrid foul odor lingering in vehicle, soaked rear carpet in trunk (closest to back seat) headliner show signs of water damage near curtain airbags. Notice to auto manufacturer: I alerted Ford motor company the first time in my 2013 Mkz on several different occasions, after the vehicle was in repair 3x over $5k in damages, due to faulty connection of drains. 2017 Mkz, as of January 2023 has a flooded trunk, malfunctioning electrical systems, mold/mildew build up, with estimated repairs of $5k+. Advised that nowhere in the maintenance section is this listed considering the magnitude of damage this can result in from poor care and design.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. 5 times brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to respond, causing his vehicle to rear end his wife vehicle. There were no injuries sustained. They say the bar was cracked in two different spots that makes the airbag deploy. Luckily my car wasn’t total for that reason. But I always wondered why my airbags didn’t deploy ? The parts were to be in the third quarter of 2021, I have been patient. But, this recall addresses the driver side airbag. I am concerned that if it explodes, I could be seriously hurt. 30 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKZ

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

My vehicle has a safety recall for a possible exploding driver airbag, recall number 21v158. This recall was issued 3/25/21, about 10 months ago, and the manufacturer still does not have a fix for it. This is unacceptable given the severity of the recall. The NHTSA website states that if the manufacturer has not remedied a recall in a reasonable amount of time, then a vehicle complaint should be submitted. In my mind, 10 months is an unreasonable amount of time. I hope that the NHTSA can put additional pressure on Ford/Lincoln to remedy this recall ASAP.
