I just had my state inspection in Jan. On 3. 28. 20, I got into the car, started it. I placed the car in reverse, pushed on the brake pedal as I park on a slight incline. I felt a resistance and the pedal went to the floor. The vehicle did stop. Unsure of what happened, I put it in park and I applied the emergency brake. As I was partially in traffic put it in drive to go forward and used the emergency brake again, put it in park. Tried brake pedal again, it pumped to nor malfunctioned position. Thinking it was a system glitch, I tried again. When I pushed the brake this time to place it in reverse, it went to the floor again. Turned car off and exited to look. Saw brake fluid on the ground around the front passenger tire. Called for a flat bed tow. It went to pep boys. They said the front passenger brake hose had bubbled and split. I requested they check all the hoses. The front driver also had a bubble defect. They replaced both. I am thankful it happened as it did because I go down a steep, downhill mountain back road to go home. They made the repairs and checked everything in the system, all else is well. They gave me the hoses because they said for the mileage and age, this should not have happened. Nothing was noted at the time of inspection either, at the same place. I found no recall or bulletin on this. It needs investigating before there is a tragedy.
