Electrical System Problems of Lincoln MKZ - part 2

I traded in this 2010 Lincoln Mkz on November 24, 2018 at classic Acura in beaumont, texas. Since that time I have contacted both Lincoln motor company by phone and email plus kinsel Ford-Lincoln of beaumont, texas in person and by phone. These contacts were done multiple times and today I received another recall notice (19s54-abs hcu valve concern (17x29) on the 2010 Lincoln that I no longer own. Has not been keeping whoever is the new owner of the 2010 Lincoln Mkz advised of recalls.

The abs system malfunction. All sensors light up and brakes did not work. You could push the brakes to the floor. Very dangerous situatiuon. This is the same abs malfunction that has been the subject of a Ford recalled of 600, 000 vehicles in the fusion,and mk's in the years thru 2010 but not 2011 and 2012 which yse the same braking system. This is a unacceptable and dangerous.

After reading about the numerous complaints about this vehicles transmission issues I have decided to come here. The pcm and tcm need to be changed in the vehicle. Causing rough shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th which essentially will cause you to replace the transmission because of the damage it causes. Also constantly having drive control malfunction, check headlamp system messages popping up. There is also horrendous noise from the rear suspension any time you go over any type of anomaly in the road.

After a year with the purchasing dealer we are still having on-going electrical issues with the vehicle. Apple sync, voice control. Still have issues with rims pitting after only less than 10,000 miles on the vehicle. Bolt rusting on under carriage. Film on back window. Lincoln corporate has been following this case for a year now and my rep is mr. Dehane davis. This file is still open at Lincoln corporate.

The contact owns a 2014 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that the trunk failed to close on several occasions, causing the battery to become drained. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer suburban Cadillac of Plymouth (40475 ann arbor rd, Plymouth, mi 48170, (734) 453-7500) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the trunk module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

In January 2021, my vehicle had reached about 60,000 miles. As I was backing out of my driveway, I noticed multiple warning lights on the instrument panel and as I tried to stop the car discovered that the brakes were not working. I pulled the emergency brake handle and stopped the car. Had the car not stopped, I probably would not have avoided going into the street. I turned off and restarted the car but the brakes did not work (after you start the car, the abs light goes on and then the brake warning light goes on; the brakes only work a little near the floor). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and both the abs module and hydraulic control unit had to be replaced at a cost of about $3200. I noticed a recall for basically the same thing but the recall only went up to 2010.

The problem happening,and again today is that the airbag warning light goes on and the air conditioning stops working and the power windows won't open on passenger side and the radio won't go on and power drivers seat move back and forth on its own while driving!!!! problems happen both while driving and in stationary position. This has happened oct 25. 2020. I found out ll this after starting the vehicle.

The middle rear seat belt locks up when you fold the seat down and the only way to lift the seat is to remove the seat belt from the car and allow it to fully retract. But as soon as the seat get laid down again you have to repeat the process. There are multiple videos on youtube of multiple Ford vehicles having the same problem. Secondly periodically all the lights on the dash come on and it says all the advanced driver assistant systems aren’t working and the electronic assist powersteering stops working. It lasts anywhere from a couple minutes or until the car is turned off for a long time. There are also multiple videos on youtube showing the same problem on multiple lonicoln Mkz’s.

Vehicle stalls while driving down the street and has done this several times, both on city streets and on the highway. The date chosen for when this happened was the last time it happened. The battery will not keep a charge and a certified mechanic has had the car for 2 weeks and can not locate the reason the battery drains completely within 8 hours.

When reversing, backup camera intermittently restarts, shuts off, or never shows. This is a danger as it is unpredictable and can cause damage if it turns off while in motion. Car display says "camera unavailable. Please contact dealership". Code reader gives error c1001 general electric failure.

Portion of led tail-lights are out. This is a known issue that has been covered on 2010's and 2011's however my 2012 is not covered even though they are identical vehicles with identical part numbers.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that while depressing the window switch for the driver's side rear window, the blind spot warning system was deactivated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

I went to start my vehicle no power at all. . Weird nothing ever happened like that before. So I get aaa to give me a boost. I get to my destination. Go to get back in my car and leave. Car dead no power at all. Get towed to the dealer. Battery check was good. They couldn't find out the problem. Then the car would get jump started but wouldn't turn off when you press the button only the auxiliary things would power off. The dealer is telling me it's water damage but how? it's garage kept. .

I was at the gas station putting gas to my car when I noticed flames coming from the engine then I told the people around the staff od the gas station shut off all the gas pumps and help me to tryied to use extinguishers toend the fire until the fire departnen people came. I do not realy know what hapoened but iwas having some electrical problems and was smoking when we were driving the car. We thought need antifreeze liquid and put it but still running weird.

The hybrid mode does not work anymore after 9 years. The vehicle hesitates upon acceleration. It will only run on the internal combustion engine even though the battery is fully charged. Ford knows about the problem as noted in their oasis 8922.

Rear lift gate assembly center led strip is filled with water. This causes an electrical short condition that results in the reverse lights to be on at all times when driving. Vehicle will not pass MA inspection and has been cited for this infraction. No damage to lift gate, either a part or manufacturing defect.

Heated seat/ac seat module ground pin burned to a crisp rendering the module useless. . . This is a fire hazard and should be recalled.

The radio blew out, after Lincoln installed the an airbag that was recalled. It's sounded like a body drop on the vehicle also the airbag light came back on.

In under 4 years/50k miles battery has been changed 4 times. Every time the cause is a bad battery and not a draw. There is an underlying issue with the Mkz electrical architecture. Dealer says this is a common problem.

My car has had numerous electrical issues since the day I have purchased it. Again, last week, the instrument panel lit up with numerous codes. I drove it to the dealership and left the car for a few days. The codes cleared and they cannot root cause the issue. In addition, when I have been at a stop light the driver's seat regresses backwards, and the side view mirror moves at the same time.

It started months ago with a strange humming noise coming from the back of the car on the right side ,where the gas tank is. It would come and go very couple of weeks. My mechanic checked it out and found nothing. One day, with the humming sound very loud , the car lost power while driving, almost crashed. Had it towed back to the mechanic ,who I trust and again could find nothing. I called a Lincoln dealer and they knew nothing of a gas pump recall. My mechanic looked up on edmonds and noticed their was a recall on fuel pumps for the mkc but my car missed the inclusion date by a month. So we replaced the pump. $700. Seemed to work until 2 days ago when I tried to start the car but couldn't depress the brake pedal because it was down to the floor and the dash board screen had all crazy lights flashing with strange clicking noises coming from the dash. The lights and radio worked fine. One day later, now the lights don't work at all. Maybe a separate issue? there seems to be many other electrical complaints on websites about the mkc. I'm going to replace the battery and if that doesn't work, have it towed to a Lincoln dealer.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that while driving between 25-60 mph on several occasions, without warning the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle lost all electrical functions, power steering assist feature and abs. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on each occasion. The vehicle was taken to (bob davidson Ford Lincoln 1845 e joppa rd, parkville, MD 21234, (410) 661-6400) to be diagnosed but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,500.

The rear backup light to less than adiquate. At night when backing up the light is so dim that I'm unsure if there are no obsticles in the way, like people and cars. A brighter light could avoid backing up accidents and injuries and possible deaths.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that while attempting to open all doors, the door handles fractured. The contact mentioned that the rear locks failed to operate the doors. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they informed the contact that an unknown electrical motor sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. Ak.

Serious safety concern affecting many Lincoln models. Couldn't open the driver side door and had to crawl out to the passenger side. This is dangerous in the event of a car crash. So many videos on the web of this problem. This model year should also be included in the door lock recall. Huge inconvenience crawling in from the passenger side, but at least I'm small. I sure would feel sorry for a bigger person. My vehicle was also assembled at the same plant during the year the other cars were affected.

The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln Mkz. While the driver was attempting to open the front driver's door, there were flames on the door panel. The driver extinguished the fire. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repaired. A fire report was not filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

Unable to secure vehicle. Front driver side door will not lock/unlock by using any electric method or by using key mechanically in exterior door lock.

Both front doors have a problem the handle on the driver door broke u cannot open the door from the inside. Then today the passenger door want stay close.

The metal part on the cable connecting battery to other parts of vehicle cracked. Had stopped to get battery checked and service personnel found the crack in the metal part on cable that contains 2 fuses. Car had been hesitant on starting twice in the week. Safety problem if part had broken completely into while on interstate or in an area not heavily populated. Could have caused a serious if not fatal accident.

At 44k mils, passenger seat switch & motor w/track malfunctioned for seat seldom used. Rpr cost reduced to $1145 due to inadequate diagnosis & 10 day wait for return of wrong parts and dealer sublets, prior electrical failure of driver door latch & locking mechanism at 39k miles both occurrences after 5 year warranty but substantialy prior to 50k mile warranty. Caruso Lincoln dealer was able to get warranty repair done on door problem. I did not even attempt warranty repair on seat problem preferring to pay and pay off vehicle ASAP and rid myself of it.

I was driving my vehicle on a highway when the car stalled out. I tried repeatedly to re-start but it kept stalling. The car was towed to a Lincoln dealership near my home and it was determined that the throttle body and pcm had to be replaced which cost me $2128. At the time of the incident, my car had 91,860 miles. I noticed on the Lincoln chat sight that other owners complained about the same problem. I was surprised to learn that this extremely dangerous defect was not under recall. Hoping that the ntsb would further investigate. Thank you.

While car is in motion the airbag warning light suddenly goes on at the same time the air conditioning goes off and will not go back on. Simultaneously the radio and power window and power seats and power mirror stop working. To date this has happen approximately eight times.

I have constant issues with the power deck lid not working when it is cold, it wont even pop the trunk. This morning I experienced a dead battery and when I got the vehicle jumped and started, the power steering warning came on as well as a traction control, hill start warnings and the power steering isnt working at all. The vehicle was stationary. I am unable to turn the wheel.

2017 Lincoln Mkz. Consumer writes in regards to computer touch screen malfunction, headlights control switch problems. The consumer stated within the first month of purchasing the vehicle the touch screen would shut down and reboot itself while driving. The switch that controls the headlights was also faulty. Updated 07/10/2017.

(1) driver rear circuitboard lights are not illuminated,the first row,and second row. . 400 to 500. 00 repair because of defective lighting. . (2) driver side front window are no longer automatic up or down. . Have to keep the power window button depressed,for operation of this window. . Started with these problems almost simultaneously 4/5 months or so ago. .
