Our 05 Lincoln Navigator we just purchased about 7-8 months ago. The retractable running boards broke on the driver side rear in the swiveling bushing area. The structure cracked and would not hold it up. I got told there are no parts available for this and its $3,000. 00 for a new running board. I am super upset, especially because I purchased this vehicle for my wife's daycare, and while one of the children stepped up on it, it broke; therefore they fell on the ground twisting their ankle. I can't afford to spend $3k on a new running board. I think its insane that there is not replacement parts for this. I cant get the kids in and out on the driver side now. I am so upset. Why hasn't someone fixed this. Sounds like it happens to all of them in this year range. No one can afford to fix them.

Cpsc#i1230613a. 2010 Lincoln Navigator. Consumer stated her daughter stepped out the truck onto the extended running board and it closed and crushed her feet/ankles between the running board and car frame. Ford said they could not duplicate the accident so they told her to keep the car and bring it back if happens again.

We bought a 2003 Lincoln Navigator from a local dealer and about a month to late noticed water leaking from the sunroof and front handle of the passenger side of the vehicle. Thought it was coming from the front windshield, because the gasket was kind of warped . First we sealed it up with silicone, so we thought the problem was solved until we noticed more water leaking. By this time it was to late. On the way home from the store noticed a buzzing sound . Guess what the electrical board is fried . I always wondered if we're the only one but im quite sure we're not . This is a poorly designed piece of car. There has to be some way in determining how to fix this water leak. But nobody knows anything. Why isn't their a recall for this problem.

Power side step bars rotten with rust, we can no longer step on them because they will break off completely then we will have a bigger problem.
The air compressor continues to fail, this causes the back of the vehicle to drop way down. If this happens while the vehicle is traveling on the freeway I am afraid that the vehicle can flip over with myself and my baby.

My 03 Lincoln Navigator has been having problems with the power running boards on the driver side. After car is started the running board remains deployed and will not return to the "in" position until vehicle has exceeded more than 5mph. The running board will go in and out every time the vehicle comes to a stop. The problems temps to be worst on hot days. I have not done anything to fix the problem yet, but after researching and reading some blogs about Lincoln's 03 Navigator I saw that there is a lot of other Navigator owners that are or had experienced the same problem. When the running board does not go in, it makes the air suspension not inflate as it should. This makes the vehicle feel like if it is heavier than it is and at time making it hard to handle on the road. With this I have noticed that since the suspension is not running ok the car feels like if its dragging, which puts extra stress on the tires, wearing out the tires faster than it should.
Noticed the air compressor ran all of the time for the air ride system. The car was still in warranty took it to Ford and they said they had fixed the problem. 800 miles out of warranty the ride side air shock went bad and burned out the compressor. Looked up old paper work and come to find out that they has put on a noise reduction kit on the compressor. So we could no longer hear it run. Contact the dealership as well as customer service at Lincoln. They told us sorry about your luck it is out of warranty. Took it to a different dealer and they said that the bags on the air ride system were dry rotted (the truck has 50,800 miles. He said this a common problem with Ford and Lincoln. They replace at least 8 sets a week. I had the right side fixed, new compressor. Now 7 months later the left side as done the same thing (55,000 miles).

On Jan 14, 2006 , I came out in the am and started my 2000 Lincoln Navigator. I turned on wiper and started to drive in a few minutes the truck was filled with smoke. I immediately turn it off and got out. I return and started truck turned wipers back on and they worked except for intermittent mode. I then took truck to dealer the next day. They informed me that water leak past the windshield onto the fuse box and gem unit. They would have to replace windshield with a different type. ( not reseal. They said this was common on these trucks. They also needed to replace fuse box and gem total was $1200. 00, I contacted Ford because why would they have to replace windshield if it was original and not cracked. I was told there is no recall and they could not reimburse me. After loosing 2 other trucks in a 2 year period to fire both fords , I am now extremely annoyed that Ford will not acknowledge these problems. I search forums and internet and see that this is common ( windshield leak), why will Ford not pay for this. I guess they feel that if they can get away with it then why recall. I have lost 2 trucks because of electrical problems now I have a 3rd truck with similar problems. Force Ford to recall or fix these problems at their expense. I have been a mechanic for 15 years and understand a recall like this to replace windshields would be expensive but I the consumer can not keep buying trucks.

Consumer disappointed in the quality and performance of 2004 Lincoln Navigator. While driving 40 mph or higher the vehicle would vibrate while the windows were down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the consumer that the condition was normal.
Dealership replaced the motor and the computer of driver's seat that was too loose and moved back and forth while driving, causing a distraction to the consumer. 6 months later, consumer experienced the same problem. The vehicles brakes squeaked, the door panel was loose, the side mirror motor failed. There was a rattling noise coming from the rear center console and there was a loud humming noise from the passenger dash in cold weather. The gear shifter broke while driving. The original windshield wiper left a black smear on the window when it rained which made it difficult to see. The front door molding warped. The consumer no longer wasn't the vehicle and has requested a refund.
The contact had difficulty with the power seats memory setting/power-folding heated exterior mirrors, and the power-deployable running boards. They worked intermittently. The power seats with memory setting had a memory function that should remain set at the driver's preference. However, it sometimes readjusted without warning. The power-folding heated exterior mirrors will not identify programmed positions. The power-deployable running boards will not automatically deploy when the doors were opened. The dealer reprogrammed the vehicle several times in an attempt to correct the problems. Afterwards, the aforementioned continued to work intermittently. No further repairs have been made.
The sun roof leaks, tail gate does not work properly, and running board don't work properly as well and the my local for cannot find a problem:(.
The retractable power running boards on my 2003 Lincoln Navigator intermittently fail to deploy and/or retract. As a result of the failure to deploy, I fell while exiting the vehicle, hitting my head on the ground, injuring my lower back (lumbar)in two places and fracturing my (thoracic) spine at t-12. I've researched this on line and found several others vehicle owners who have the same problem with the running boards. I'm told that Ford has a service bulletin #17249 that describes the malfunction. Ford and the dealer have been unable or unwilling to repair my vehicle. I have left it with the dealer for repairs numerous times, twice one of the running boards was stuck in the outer position at the time it was left for repair. I have met with the factory engineer on two occasions. I have made numerous complaints and telphone calls to the Lincoln customer servicehotline and met with smithtown Lincoln Mercury's previous and current service managers. A dangerous condition exists. Hopefully you will take an interest and force them to take whatever action is required to correct the malfunction before others also sustain serious injuries.
Consumer states the vehicle vibrates, the problem started when the right rear tire lost approximately 50 square inches of rubber and the front tire developed a large bubble, since then the vehicle has been in the shop on several occasions, the dealer has tried to remedy the problem, but with no results, the dealer is now stating that the vibration is normal for this kind of vehicle.
Passenger side mirror does not work properly, radio cover has marks on it where it retract into the dash, kick plate inside of the driver's side door is broken, all four doors external patterns are loose, and the front console lock is broken. The door ajar light illuminated continually after being repaired three times.
