Failure Date: 04/25/2023

These tires have become uncontrollable in the rain. At 45 mph in light rain the vehicle slides all over the place. Traction control is going off and the vehicle is near impossible to stop and it slid sideways. I have been driving for 40 years including in the rain with a motorcycle even. I have never experienced anything like this. I asked other Lincoln owners on facebook and quickly got a lot of comments on how dangerous they are. Tires came from the Lincoln factory and have 29,000 miles on them with good tread. I dont beleive its a tread depth issue - possibly a tire compound issue. Very dangerous and people will die. This issue is with all 4 tires.

21 Tire problem of the 2000 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 06/10/2002

I have experienced 2 blowouts on this set of tires. On inspection, the service rep (for the auto dealer, marshall bros. ) found a third tire that was about to separate in much the same way. I just thought it was time to buy new tires. I went to my local goodyear dealer to replace the old tires. He told me they were still in very good shape, I did not need new tires. He believed that the one that had blown out was defective. What concerns me most were the comments made by both the Lincoln service rep & the independent goodyear dealer. Thay both stated that the expeditions, Navigators & explorers are extremely rough on tires. The Lincoln service representative showed me an expedition that he was changing out all the tires- it was a 2001 expedition with less than 30,000 miles on the tires. This concerns me. . . In addition, marshall bros. Lincoln-Mercury would not honor the warranty on the tires. I was told I would have to deal with the manufacturer. The continental mfr. Is very hard to locate. I'm still trying. I have possession of the most recent 2 failed tires @ home. The first blow-out was @ approximately 55mph when the car had 12,000 miles on it. Thank you. P. S. The owner of the vehicle is my father. He gave me the vehicle to drive this past December. He will verify or sign this report if needed.

31 Tire problem of the 1998 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 09/11/2000

Car started vibrating heavily in speed over 30mph. Took vehicle in for service, and was told tires were defective. Purchased new tires from dealer . While at the dealership was approached by another customer who had also been told that the tires on their Navigator had failed at 30,000 miles. Saw on abc news tonight ( 9/18/00) that these tires were being looked into for failure in saudi arabia. I think this problem needs to be looked into here in the united states also. While picking up my vehicle I was also informed that tire failure occured on a truck with the same tires at only 11,000 miles. I would appreciate more information, as I do not want to put my family in jeopardy if these tires are defective as suspected. ( dot number: tire size: p245/75r16 ).

32 Tire problem of the 1998 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 09/03/2000

Tread separation on right front tire, vehicle traveling approx. 70 mph, posted speed 70 mph, almost lost control of car with vehicle instability. Tire purchased 10/18/1999, only 13,000 miles on tire. Very lucky no injuries, but why did tread separate? not a blow out, as tire was inflated with air hissing out when we were able to stop. On interstate 95, and able to pull over safely, but again, very lucky not to be passing another vehicle or on a bridge when tire failure occurred. Should there be a recall for these tires too? just because no injuries and minor equipment damage from flailing tread wound around axle doesn't mean it's a safe tire. ( dot number: tire size: p245/75r16 ).
