Tire Problems of Lincoln Navigator - part 2

I noticed a vibration in the steering wheel at approximately 60+ mph. I thought I needed a front end alignment so I scheduled it at the time I had the engine oil changed. After the oil was changed, I was informed the rear right tire was "bad" and the tire was replaced by the dealer free of any cost to myself. I do not have the vibration any more. I am happy with the replacement policy but am concerned with the structual integrity of the other tires. In light of the recall by continental of only "16" inch tires, I think it might be prudent to review history on the "17" inch tires. ( dot number: tire size: p255/75r17 ).

Was operating my 1998 Lincoln Navigator with listed tires for several hours on 08/01/2000 when I felt a sudden constant vibration in tires or suspension. After looking at tires did not initially see anything wrong with them but later assumed it was possibly the tread seperating and giving my vehicle a rough ride. I slowed my speed and drove vehicle home very slowly and next day to desert Lincoln Mercury in las vegas. Dealer stated the tire was damaged and needed replacement, total cost of $124. 76. I believe this tire could be part of national recall and should be covered. ( dot number: e4025825 tire size: p255/75r17 ).

Appx. 12" of inside shoulder of p245/75r16 tire located on driver's side rear separated. (dot number: unk. Tiresize: p245/75r).

I was under the impression that the tires would last at least 60 thousand miles, with reasonable care, however we were wrong. Two of the tires now have plugs in them, one of which we are afraid to use, since weve had to have two different dealers put plugs in on two different occasions during a recent trip. (dot number: 025825 tiresize: 17 in).

Two original tires 'shreaded' beyond repair within first year. Same defect as Ford motor company has experienced with its firestone tires. The failure appears the same as what has been noted in Lincoln Navigators sold in saudi arabia. (tiresize: 16 inch)( dot number: tire size: 16 inch ).

On January 11, 1999 my husband and myself had pulled off the lot of the dealership when we came to the red light about 100 feet away from the dealership . When the light turned green and we proceed thru the light the left rear side of the vehicle went bomb and the tire rolled down the street beside us.

While driving in rain at 60 mph car started to hydroplane, 360 in road, tires have been replaced since the latest incident. During any rain complete traction with the car is lost. Dealer contacted, and are aware of the problem, but cannot duplicate the problem.

Tires worn out. Yh.

Consumer has a complaint about a claim for reimbursement filed against faulty tires. Consumer feels reimbursement is essential.

Consumer purchasing a new Lincoln Navigator 2001 after driving 14000 miles on truck tires began to wear out. Dealer has been notified.

I have the same symptoms with my tires that the other recalled tires have. (dot number: ad70449228 tiresize: p245/75r16).

While driving consumer experienced poor drivability, upon inspection he noticed that the left rear tire had a 8-10 inch split down the middle, to the belts (17 in firestone tires). Nlm.

Driver's side rear tire is showing premature failure (continental tire, p27560r17 . Tires were so out of round that they couldn't be balanced. The consumer purchased a replacement tire from continental and the tread was shaved about 18 inches to make it more round. The consumer fears separation may occur.

2 of the originial tires failed (size p24575r16). Nlm.

Continental tires refused to reimburse the consumer for purchase of new tires. Now a recall, but manufacturer refuses request for reimbursement because it was received too late. . . .

The replacement tires were warped and did not stay balanced, which caused the vehicle to bounce and pull to the left.

While turning a corner in the rain the vehicle did a 360 degree turn around and ended up facing oncoming traffic. Also when the vehicle takes off on an incline the tires just spin and the vehicle does not move. Manufacturer says .

Vehicle is pulling to the right and occasionally to the left, the front end of the vehicle experiences vibration, this could possibly be a suspension problem or a tire problem.
