I had tread separate on a second tire on my vehicle (the first tire tread seperated about six months ago). This happened while on a freeway traveling at 65-70 miles per hour. A chunk of tread about 12 -16 inches long ripped completely off of the tire. I then had to change the tire on the side of the freeway with cars and truck passing me at 70 miles per hour. This was an extremely scary situation. The passenger in my vehicle was also extremely distressed. (dot number: ad70 449 0 tiresize: p245/75r16).

Problem is that there was abnormal wear of tires on vehicle. Consumer contacted Lincoln, and continential has also been notified.
Pe00 020; consumer was traveling 65mph on intersection, and experienced vibration from vehicle. Then, there was a loud boom. He was able to pull vehicle over to the shoulders, and left rear tire tread had separated from rim. Tire was still inflated. Continental, #p245/75r16. He contacted dealership, and mechanic replaced the tires. Also there were stress marks and cracking.
On the left rear, the tread seperated from the tire while driving on the interstate at 65-70 mph. A loud pop was heard when the tread seperated followed by loud noises as the tread came off the tire and hit the fender well. I took the seperated tire to the local Ford dealer and they recommended that I put all new tires on my car. The left front tire also had a crack in it along the tread and sidewall of the tire. The Ford representative said that it look like the left front was about to also seperate. The seperated tread also caused the center cap of the wheel to come off. This was a very terrifying experience and I am lucky that I was able to get the car stoped without causing a wreck. The car swerved when it first occured and we were lucky that there was not another beside us. ( dot number: ad70 449 tire size: p245/75r16 ).
The tires tread completly separated from the sidewalls. All that was left on the rim after stopping were the two sidewalls standing like doughnuts on the edges of the rim. Other drivers saw chunks of rubber flying out from under the vehicle and thought I had run over a tractor trailer shed recap. (dot number: 70 449 338 tiresize: p245/75/r1).
After checking pressure and tread 1 wk prior, tread completley separated from tire( dot number: ad70449457 tire size: p245/75r16 ).
The continental contitrac at p255/75r17 tire on the vehicle experienced blowout from tread separation which caused damage to the vehicle.
On three occasion the tires experienced tire blowout and lost a large piece of tread causing irregular tread wear and strong vibration, consumer replaced the tires and request reimbursement (continental general tire). Nlm.
Tread separated from carcass at speed, difficult to control vehicle, but luckily it was right rear and I felt it starting to go and slowed before total tread separation( dot number: tire size: 255/75r-17 ).
My contitrac as tires have the same symptoms as the tires in the recall announced by continental tires on 9/19/00; however, the recall dot number range inappropriately exclude my tires. My contitrac p246/75r16 tires should be included as part os this recall because they are defective. The recall should also include the contitrac 17inch tires because I have some friends who have those tires which have the symptoms of vibration, missing chunks of tread. ( dot number: ad70449397 tire size: 245/75r16 ).

My parents have owned three Lincoln Navigators with 17 in conti trac continental tires from the factory. My mothers 98 Navigator had a tire tread separate. My fathers 99 Navigator had a tire tread separate also. Now his 2000 Navigator with 17 in conti trac tires is developing the same "tire thumping" as the other two vehicles did. A separation usually follows. We have replaced one tire, replaced the entire set on a second vehicle and are awaiting a more complete separation on the latest vehicle. . . . . . . These 17 inch tires are junk. I know the government has recalled the 16 in, tires on Navigators of the same brand but the 17 inch ones are just as bad. . . I have power of attorney over both my aging parents and felt compelled to write you and let you know of this dangerous situation. . . . Sincerely, rodger d. Connor. (tiresize: 17 inch).

The vehicle experienced irregular tread wear, the rear tire was replaced due to separation of the belt which was caused by the irregular wear.
Consumer stated she had to purchase tires for the vehicle before there was ever a recall, due to the tires loosing traction on the streets, however the company only wants to reimburse 110. 00 plus tax when the cost of the replacement tire was more. (continental contitrac aw-dot adt044u4400).
I brought the vehicle in for oil change/tire balance/and rotation. The tevh. Advised me he had to replace a tire. I asked why?. The reason was tread separation, of which they showed me. I was beside myself especially since the firestone recall and deaths due to faulty tires. I demanded the dealer to replace all five tires. Now with new replacement tires the vehicle wobbles and vibrates in an enourmous way. Im very concerned about this problem. The dealer states its not fords problem. Whos is it? I just brought the vehicle back for another tire balance. Its still the same, actually worse, if you drive over 50 mph the vehicle feel like its going to shake apart. Please look into this matter. Peoples lives are at steak if in fact these tires are defected. Thank you very much. (tiresize: p275/60r17)( dot number: tire size: p275/60r17 ).
Firestone tires were wearing so badly, consumer replaced them and is requesting reimbursement, a recall(00t005) statement was received.
