My car has been making a weird whistling noise for a few months. My husband found it was coming from the rear intake manifold hose. He started my car and next the car started smoking and he looked under the hood the nipple where the hose connected had broke off and there is a crack all the way down the intake manifold.

There was a loud pop after I got gas. My car wouldn't stay running. I couldn't figure out what was going on. My husband looked under the hood and the spark plug still attached to the ignition coil had popped out of the engine. All of the screws holding the ignition coils had backed out.
The contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that he noticed fuel on the pavement in the driveway at his residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the intake manifold was faulty. The mechanic also confirmed that the manifold was leaking and needed to be replaced. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 85,800.
While accelerating approximate @ 30 mph, vehicle speed increased without assistance nearly plummeting into a body of water at a curve. . . Exit 77 on I-95s MD. The car could not handled the curve at that rate of speed. Town car had to be thrown into neutral and hard press brake pedal in order to stop. Safety issue could have been major accident or my death. I do not desire to reproduce a dangerous scenario with an accelerating vehicle. Dealership and private mechanic refused to reproduce incident. Zero warning lamps and nothing in computer to determine a problem/fix.

Tl the contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle was scraped. The vehicle was taken to pompano Ford (2741 n federal hwy, pompano beach, FL 33064, (954) 773-9486) for repairs. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, he noticed that the entire floorboard was flooded with water. The dealer believed the water was due to the air conditioning unit flooding or the wipers pushing water inside the vehicle. The dealer then stated that there was a pan in the engine compartment that was supposed to drain water out into the street. The dealer tried to blame the insurance company that directed the contact to the dealer to have the scrape repaired. The dealer gave the contact a bill for $880 and did not clear out the water. The dealer informed the contact that the insurance company would pay for the repairs. The dealer returned the vehicle to the contact still full of water and gave him a statement listing the charges for which they expected the insurance company to pay. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,000.
No indication or warning prior to incident. Within 2 mi of driving, battery light came on, electrical issues began (radio/dome lights, etc), then smoke billowing from under hood. Immediately pulled over, turned off ignition, and entire front end was on fire.

While in motion vehicle engine accelerates on its own. Not a driver error problem. This extremely dangerous engine revving has occurred several times when driving in the city and slowing down approaching an intersection. Can control the engine revving up by placing transmission on neutral, stopping car turn ignition to off. Restart engine and engine behaves properly. Took car to dealer 0n 9/22/16. Dealer kept car to attempt duplicating problem. Car returned car to me on 10/20/16. Dealer says no problem detected. This acceleration problem has happened numerous times going back to shortly after I purchased the new car. I bought the car in good faith. I now believe that the dealer and Lincoln sold me a defective product. Too dangerous to drive with passengers and safety for other persons. This problem has occurred probably about 20 times and reported several times to no avail.

Immediate uninitiated tremendous engine acceleration after shifting from reverse to drive. I had to jam the brake on and put the car in neutral until the acceleration stopped. This has occurred previously approximately five other times over the course of eight years.
This vehicle has suddenly violently accelerated on four different occasions during the last eleven months. The first incident occurred after tapping the brake pedal at a very slow speed and resulted in the car crashing into a barrier at a filling station in upstate new york. Subsequent episodes were halted by turning the ignition switch off while attempting to stop the car with the service brakes. There seems to be few common threads among the incidents. There are no warning indicators before or after the sudden unintended acceleration events. No history codes were ever recorded in the powertrain control module. The incidents always occurred while the vehicle was moving at a slow speed sometimes when tapping the brake pedal and other times while pressing the accelerator pedal. No floor mats were involved in any of the incidents and the driver definitely did not depress the wrong pedal or both pedals at the same time.

The contact owns a 1994 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that while parked, he was made aware that the vehicle was on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed and remained in the contact's drive way, which was advised by the fire department. The fire department stated that the fire started from under the hood on the driver's side but the direct origina of the fire was unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
The ignition switch gives sparks and could ignite the car. Ford admits other 1988 Lincoln Town Cars have a ignition switch problem and replaces them. They have not included my VIN on the defect and replacement list; however, it is defective and could ignite a fire at any time.
My Lincoln has blown #3 spark plug-when I was traveling 70 mph-twice within 18,000 miles between incidents-total repair cost-over $1600-total aggravation cost-priceless !! each time the plug blows-the mechanic "fixes" it-and we are told-there is no permanent fix-and it will probably blow again. We have been stranded by this problem-in a little one-horse town-with no mechanic on duty for 2 days-so, you can add the hotel bill as well as the tow charge to that above stated amount. Upon research-we have found out that Ford products have had this problem since 1996-not only Lincolns-but, mercurys-trucks-etc. What the heck-can't someone address this problem. This is nuts. This is my last Ford-can you even imagine our frustration-we love our Lincoln-it was my husbands' retirement present-what a total outrage-this has happened twice-you know what-three strikes-you're out !! someone needs to do something-.
Car engages in unintended acceleration at idle. Intermittent. Approximately every four days. No identifiable causation. (foot was not on the accelerator at time of incident. ).

My parents bought the car as a certified / pre-owned when it was 6 months old. Within the past six months the Town Car will suddenly try to accelerate, (or the engine will run up to the redline on the tachometer. ) it will literally spin the back tires while both the drivers feet are on the brake pedal. We are contacting the dealer this week. This is getting more and more often.

I was stopped and entering a turn. There was no ice on the pavement. As I turned left the car accelerated and the brakes became unresponsive. The car spun and hit a fire hydrant. This car at other times as suddenly accelerated, but I was always able to apply the brakes and it calmed down in a few seconds.
As I was approaching my left turn into the community I live in and driving about 45 mph, I stepped onto the brake and the car engine started accelerating. There was a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction which was the reason I was trying to stop. I pushed down on the brake but the engine continued to accelerate. I shifted into neutral and the engine slowed down. This is a very dangerous situation to be in. This happened twice since I owned the vehicle. I took it to the dealer but they could not re-create the situation again.
Driving perhaps 30 miles per hour I suddenly heard the car accelerate and it started to go faster. I hit the brakes and that did not slow down the car. I was in heavy traffic and quickly went into a side street turning sharply and narrowly missing parked cars but struck two steel poles and than a parked truck. It was a horrible experience!.
We owned a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. We drove that car that evening, parked it in the garage at 10:45pm and went to bed. At 3:30am, we were awoken by police breaking our door down and flames were shooting out of our garage. The source of the fire was determined to be from the Lincoln Town Car. The Town Car had no hood after the fire, 2 other vehicles were also destroyed. Our home also caught on fire and approximately 100% of our contents and 50% of our home was destroyed. Luckily, noone was injured. The Town Car engine was burnt beyond recognition, so they were not able to determine which part was defective, however the insurance CO, (american family investigators) determined it had definitely started from the Lincoln . They stated that we cannot prove to Ford which part is defective so it was not reported to Ford.

Spark plug blow out. Engine had only 84,000 miles(2000 4. 6 Lincoln Town Car) repaired at dealer ship in cordel, GA @ $287. 00. They had to put a heli-coil.
Complaint was that the a/c fan fluctuates speed under automatic controls, on 9/12/08 Ford zone rep deemed that the system was operating within normal characteristics. The dealer admits to me that they have several complaints of the same problem & that Ford has not come up w/a fix. I have a record of my concerns direct to Ford & they advised me that if they found a fix for the problem they would do a recall.
Mold or musty smell coming from all vents when a/c, heat or fan is used. Dealer states that it is a common problem with all 2003 cars and up and can be eliminated by spraying lysol directly into vents. I tried it and it doesn't work. Close friend just got rid of his Lincoln at a substantial loss because problem was never resolved by Lincoln. Lincoln should be encouraged to remedy this problem since it is most certainly a health issue that should be corrected. The problem is common and documented all over the internet by troubled consumers.
1998 Lincoln Town Car caught fire. Electrical fire in engine compartment drivers side. Car burnt to ground, fire dept. Put out fire.
The contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The contact had to replace the spark plugs in the front coil springs on two different occasions. The first repair was performed under warranty in 2004 at 26,000 miles. A different front coil spring had to be replaced on October 31, 2007. The dealer stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and could not be repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 98v322000 (suspension:front: control arm:lower ball joint). The current mileage was 45,350 and failure mileage was 29,750. Updated 01/14/08 the consumer stated owns a 2003 Lincoln towncar on which two spark plug coil failures have been incurred to date. The first one was on 6/9/04 while under warranty(20 months, 26610 miles) and the second was on 10/31/07 at the cost of $320. 18 and was still under partial warranty(61 months, 45350). The consumer stated feels as if this is engineering defect and hopes that the additional spark plug coils will not have to be repaired. Updated 01/14/08.
The vehicle the 2007 Ford f-650 was towing caught fire. When the consumer pulled over toward the shoulder the car being towed became engulfed in flames. 2007 Lincoln Town Car caught on fire and was destroyed. The police officer saw smoke coming from the vehicle which was being towed. By the time he reached the vehicle, he observed flames coming from the engine compartment and fluids leaking from the engine. (ohio traffic crash report).
Small piece of plastic from intake went into the cylinder #4 and rapped around one of the values causing this value to stay open so cylinder #4 has no compression.

: the contact stated, while driving 45 mph. , on a clear dry day, there was a sound heard resembling the sound of a tire blow out. The vehicle was stopped and the tires were checked for a flat. When no flat tire was found, the vehicle was immediately driven to a near-by service station. On the way to the station, a recurring hissing sound was heard. The vehicle was then towed to an independent service mechanic, where it was determined the spark plug was blow out of its threading from #8 cylinder and the spark plug from #7 cylinder was also damaged. The heads were sent out to be drilled and rethreaded.
Our concrete drive is at a small incline-I went to put car in our garage -I had overhead garage door open-I started car and the wheels squeled leaving tire marks on concrete as it jumped forward-when I hit brake pedal it accelerated more. This was one of about 7 cases where car for no reason accelerated and jumped forward without any warning-when this happens the tires always squiel leaving tire marks on serfice. In oct. 2012 I was at a 4 way stop light-light was red and without any warning car jumped forward and 2 cars had to take action to miss my car as it ran through the stop light-other cars were blowing their horns-thank god we did not crash. This condition is extremly serious I have reported these cases to krenzen where I bought car but they claim there was never a case reported such as this. I asked them to make a report on it. I find many cases on the internet like my case.
Fire started somewhere in the dash board and the whole car went into flames melting the entire inside of my car. The whole car is now gone something from the inside of the dash went bad and Ford should do something about this.
Whilr sitting behind anoyjer vehicle in a parking lot with foot on brake engine began to accelerate and car to move forward. As engine increased in acceleration I put transmission in neutral, engine then went to redleine rpm. I turned off the engine and waited a moment and restarted car which then performend normally. I have had vehicle in dealership for action on problem, but because they were unable to duplicate problem they were unable to resolve same.
