I have a 2008 Lincoln Town Car. I was coming up to an intersection at about 10 mph to make a right turn and when I stepped on the brake the engine really revved up and I had to really stomp on the brake (all the way to the floorboard) to stop the car. The engine then slowed down. If I had been doing 75 mph on the interstate I would not have been able to stop.

why are these reports included in "interior systems"? they are clearly a safety issue that should be included under brakes and fuel system!! this model has the brake pedal and the fuel pedal connected together in a system that can raise or lower them together. . . It is probably this system that is at fault. In order to put in this feature it appears that they moved the gas pedal closer to the brake pedal and it is possible to apply both pedals together.

On June 5, 2008 I was in line on a hill to get into a car wash & accelerated into the car on line in front of me. I did file a police report at that time. I thought my foot slipped off the brake & that it could have been my fault. However,on April 8, 2010 I was waiting in line at the same car wash in exactly the same spot. I tapped the accelerator slightly to move up in line and my car lurched forward out of control. Despite pressing hard on the brake pedal my car still accelerated into the car in line in front of me. I did not file a police report on April 8, 2010.

I own a 2006 Lincoln Town Car, purchased new. Approximately once or twice per year the vehicle will try to accelerate as I am braking for a red light or a stop sign. Placing transmission into neutral position seems to result in engine slowing down. Taken to Lincoln-Mercury dealership in 3/07 and 4/10. They can not duplicate the problem and they state that they can not explain what is causing this.

1996 Lincoln Town Car recall for speed control deactivation switch. I have a letter from the manufacturer that states that there are parts available for this repair but have yet to receive a call from the dealer, I'm told I'm on the list. . How long should this take?.
Ford recall #05s28 on our 1997 Lincoln Town Car executive was issued over 5 months ago. We complied with the request to have the speed control modified, and was told we would be notified when parts were available. We have checked several times and still they are not in stock. This is totally unacceptable as a response from a reputable us manufacturer. Ford seems to be dragging their feet on this safety issue [is this a reason buyers are reluctant to buy and own us made products] ???. We are fast losing faith in the quality and concern displayed by Ford.

The switch was removed August 4, 2007 by the dealer (greens of lexington, Lincoln ) and as of this date I still have no speed control as stated .
