Faulty (defective) shifter switch (part# kdyo-46-040. ) prohibits the car from turning off reliably when put "in park. " this needs to be categorized as an official recall.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Mazda Cx-5. After the engine turned off, the electrical power remained active. In order for the electrical system to turn off, the contact had to press the start button and maneuver the gear shifter numerous times. In addition, the doors failed to lock. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 1-2242523981. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
When turning the car off, the engine stops but the car does not completely turn off. I have to put the car in reverse, move it, put it back in park, and try again. It has taken up to 5 times to turn the car off.
Radio will not turn off when the car turns off. Vehicle is in park and after pressing the start/stop button the radio will not turn off. Leaving the radio on drains the battery. If I start the car in put in another gear and back to park and pressing the start/stop button it sometimes turns the radio off and other times it does not. The engine however will turn off. The car is stationary when this happens. I did look online and it happens frequency to Mazda Cx-5 2014 vehicles because there is a video on how to replace the park switch part to correct the issue. Also, the technician at the Mazda dealership where I got the park switch installed commented that he sees a lot of customers with this issue. That is why I think it should be recalled and fixed by Mazda. Thank you.
Car will not turn off.
When the weather is hot, the car won't shut off. This happens mostly on short trips. The engine turns off but the door locks don't function and the radio and other stuff stays on. It can run your battery down which is unsafe, it happens when the car is in park and you push the power button to shut it down. They said I had to agree to $150 for diagnose. They said the shifter has to be replaced for $600. They let the air out of my tires. I had them at 34. They wrote 34 but the light came on to indicate low tire pressure. Three tires had 30 psi and one had 34 psi.
After shifting the gear to park, electrical will not shut off. Formal complaint was made to Mazda, but they will not help. Battery will be drained if not able to shut off.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Transmission safety switch which allows recognizes the gear selector switch is in the p position is faulty/defective. Defective switch is a safety concern as will not allow vehicles to completely turn off. Mazda is aware of the problem and has issued a maintenance bulletin on many affected 2013 and 2014 model vehicles. This started happening randomly 3 years ago, but has progressed to 3-4 times per week.
We've had this problem for about 4-months and finally had to take the vehicle to the dealership to be repaired which costed me $340. We had a problem with the push button which starts and turns the car on/off. It will start fine but when you go to turn the car off it kills the engine but the radio and dash lights stay on ? we have to keep starting the car about five times and trying to turn it off before it finally turns off everything completely. This happens every time we get into the vehicle. I'm really shocked that Mazda has not recalled this problem ? the dealership acted like they never seen this problem before ? I have read hundreds of complaints about this problem on NHTSA. Please get them to recall this problem so I can get my money back ! thx you for your help. I do have a copy of the invoice where I had it repaired.
Vehicle won't shut completely off. Infotainment system remains on, doors won't lock and key fobs won't work. All after pressing the start button in order to shut it off.
The bluetooth pandora usb aux cd does not light up on the stereo screen everything else work except all that.

My wife complained about how she tried to accelerate and it didn't work one random time while she was driving. I took it around the neighborhood to test it out. I wasn't even out of my block before the incident happened. I was in the middle of a turn and everything just stopped. I was going less than 10 mph when it happened. Several lights came on on the dashboard. The traction control light, the at light, the tpms light, and the check engine light. Something bad happened and this could have killed someone had it happened on the highway. I turned the car off and on and now only the check engine light is on. I was able to drive it again at that point.
Replaced battery January 29, 2019. Battery not holding a charge it goes completely dead after not driving one day. There is no obvious cause as to why the battery is drained dead no lights on no dash lights no nothing indicating that the battery should go dead . Upon checking the internet there have been many other instances where this problem has also happened with this year make and model. Problem may lie within the Mazda electrical system itself and hard for the manufacture dealer or car owner to identify .
Vehicle sometimes does not completely shut-off when shifting into "park" and pressing 'start/off' button. Accessory functions remain 'on'. Warning light states "please shift into 'park'". Sometimes requires multiple attempts shifting out of and back into 'park' before all systems shutdown when pressing 'start/off' button. Based on numerous other drivers having similar issues, appears to be problem with the shifter switch (part# kdy046040). Very irritating having to deal with this problem. . . Mazda needs to do recall on this, imo!.
When the ignition button is pressed to shut the car off it stops the engine but the radio stays on and the doors cannot be locked. The shifter is in park when this occurs. Forced to leave vehicle unlocked and "on". This happens 3-4 times per week.

The car will not shut off when you push the button because it does not realize it is in ''park'. The issue is with defective automatic transmission switch. This causes the battery. This has been happening for the past 3 years.
Pressing the push-start button does not shut off vehicle. Car is in park. Have had to walk away with car still "on", draining the battery.
The start/stop button flashes amber instead of green when starting car. Dealer said my batteries in my keyless entry needed to changed which they did and it didn't solve the problem. Someone on a Mazda board said to disconnect the negative side of the battery for just a minute to reset the computer and it will go back to green which I did but they lasts about 3-4 days then you have to do it again. Some sensor must be bad that it doesn't recognize that the keyless entry is in the vehicle or thinks the batteries always need to be changed. Very aggravating to have to keep doing this.
When powering off the car using the push ignition, the electronics stay on.

Vehicle will not shut off completely when placed into park position (an issue with the transmission sensor in the gearbox according to online forums). Problem is when vehicle is stationary. This leads to the battery being drained and needing to be jumped. Forums with hundreds of similar stories where their vehicle will not properly shut off have revealed that there is a part number for the defective switch/sensor (kdy0-46-040). Mazda needs to do the right thing and repair this defective part. For example, no one should have their car parked via valet and discover that their vehicle is dead when they return to it (especially when it is no fault to the valet driver). I have been dealing with this issue for over a year now, enough is enough.
Went in for a service around 55,000 miles and was told that new rear brakes were needed. Got a second opinion and was told that they could go a little longer. Started hearing squeaking, took them back to the mechanic who said they needed replacing. Replaced at 59,000 miles. Went in today 7/26/18 and was told my rear brakes were at 4% and would need replacing by my next visit. This would mean 2 rear brake replacements within 10,000 miles. My front brakes are still fine. I see many complaints about this for the cx 5, there a several tsbs out. Called Mazda who said they weren't aware of this problem and that brakes are considered a normal part of wear and tear. My second issues is that when I put my car in park and attempt to shut if off but it will not power off. This doesn't happen every time, but probably every 4th or 5th time. I read online that it's a transmission sensor issue and that the transmission sensor needs replacing. Both of these issues are very prevalent and I'm hoping there can be a recall on both.

A few weeks ago my keyless system began malfunctioning. When I push the car off button and go to get out of car a warning beep gets my attention that the dash is still on. The only way I have found to get everything to shut off completely is to restart the car and put it in reverse or drive and I may have to do this several times before everything shuts down.
