The contact owns a 2011 Mazda cx-9. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle at a slow speed in the driveway, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration, lurched forward, and crashed into a tree before coming to a stop. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle during the sudden unintended acceleration. During the failure the vehicle sustained front end damages, but no air bags had deployed. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that twice in the day before the unintended acceleration, the vehicle jerked forward in traffic however, the contact attributed the issue to the brake pedal not being firmly depressed or the clutch not properly engaged while shifting gear. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 173,000.

While driving the side airbags exploded and I had to stop in the middle of the street, get vehicle towed to Mazda dealer in alpharetta, GA now, im without a vehicle. What do I do now?.
My driver and passenger side curtain airbags randomly deployed without a collision. Thankfully I was at a stop sign when this happened. If it happened while I was driving, I’m sure I would have wrecked and could possibly be dead. It was loud! I thought I’d been shot or that I’d driven over a bomb. We did take the car to someone that’s certified in airbags and it was stated that this was due to a manufacturer’s defect. I also have lots of pictures. There was no warning when the airbags deployed. Mazda is refusing any responsibility due to the car being outside of the warranty.

Niece was driving home from college on July 24, 2024 around 7:30 pm. She heard a pop when she was 1 mile away from the house. Side airbags exploded on passenger and driver side for no reason. She called me. We drove the car home since it was less than 1 mile away. No injuries. A couple of days later took to body shop to assess damage.

I was approaching breezewood, PA coming south on 70 into town from hagerstown. Traffic comes to a stop awaiting a light that stops the highway traffic before allowing people to proceed through breezewood and then continue on 70 out of town. I had plenty of warning as traffic slows first from 55 to 45, then to 35 before the light. As I applied pressure to the brakes the vehicle would not slow down. I released them once and reapplied and it felt as if they were doing nothing to slow me down. There were a lot of cars ahead of me and around me and the car did hold its lane thank goodness, but I ended up colliding with a stopped pickup/trailer (ram with a car carrier/flatbed trailer). None of the vehicles collision avoidance warnings or safety features seemed to assist in the warning of the impending collision or deployed upon contact. No air bags, beeping of warning light - nothing. The vehicle is only months old - and tires are even newer than the vehicle as I had winter tires on it up until about two weeks before this trip. The weather was gray, it had rained lightly for several hours before - but it was 50 degrees.

The driver side airbag did not deploy in a front end collision on the drivers side. When approaching a vehicle that had come to a sudden and complete stop, the brakes were applied hard to the Mazda cx-9 in order to stop, but after about 1 second they just totally let go and there was no braking at all and the Mazda continued to move forward until it slammed into the vehicle that was stopped. The mymazda app sent a message that stated that there was a brake system malfunctiom which is exactly what occurred and caused the accident.
Rear passenger handle and hook above seat in roof splintered into sharp projectiles flying through cabin when air bag deplopyed I showed the sharp pieces to my insurance adjuster the power of the right curtain air bag deployment broke the handle to pieces and if anyone had been in the back seat they could have had an eye put out or been emplailed by the sharp pieces.
Intermittent airbag warning light (code 18), passenger airbag deactivation light not operating and no warning chime indicating unbuckled passenger side seat belt. The safety issue appears to be related to the airbag and related safety equipment. In the dash, within the speed and rpm display, the red airbag warning light is blinking, reporting from what I gather is a code18, as it blinks once, followed by a pause, followed by eight blinks. It appears to be linked an inoperable pad warning light, which should be on while no one is sitting in the passenger seat and off while someone is sitting on the passenger seat. While the car is running and a passenger sits unbuckled on the passenger seat there is no warning chime indicating that this passenger is unbuckled. Thank you.

I turned in to a parking lot, as I went over a speed bump, the side curtain air bags randomly deployed. Luckily, I was going very slow and was not injured. Had I been on the road I woudl not have been able to see and it could have been very dangerous. The car is at the Mazda service center and they have yet to let us know what is going to happen, if it can be repaired or what they plan to do.
I purchased a vehicle from a buy here pay here and later realized after two weeks of having the car that has a recall for the airbag on the passenger side. . . But the car was sold as is from auto sales in buford GA.
I was driving to get a cup of coffee, I was pulling out and driving through the complex when the airbags deployed from nowhere, the airbags were the side curtain airbags from both sides of the car. At the time of the deployment t my car was stationary, I was sitting with my left blinker on ready to turn.

Driving vehicle less than 5 mph, in line, after picking up kid from school. All side curtain air bags exploded/deployed, for no reason. Vehicle was not hit. Other drivers heard and witnessed the explosion/deployment of the airbags. Pulled car to side as best as possible, as the airbag curtains completely blocked the side windows.
Takata recall - was in a head on collision with 3 other cars involved, all cars were totaled and all of the other cars' airbags deployed with the exception of mine and I was injured as a result.

Apparently, my car has a safety recall from Mazda as of January 2018 in reference to the takata airbags. The united states department of transportation ( NHTSA) when completing a VIN search doesn't have my car listed on a recall in regards to takata airbags. Can someone explain why that is? thank you.
Takata recall I had to put in my VIN to make an appointment for recalls & was sent a message back stating there are no recalls on my car. When I looked it up on your website it says my car is in recall for airbags and lower control arm. But according to the Mazda dealer & the Mazda website I don't have any recalls on my car!!! so to date I haven't been able to fix the items that are being recalled. When the recall for the airbags came out I contacted Mazda & there was no recall. Again when the recall was expanded I contacted Mazda. My vehicle was not on the list. I went to your site to see what you had about my car & discovered you have 2 open recalls on my car that as far as far as Mazda is concerned I have none. Yet you have on your website that I do so I am trying to get to the bottom of this. Does my car have any recalls or not? I also want to point out that there was a recall on the transfer case on my car. Now when I bought the car the reason why I bought it with high mileage was because the car was supposed to be certified preowned. I was given the 1 year warranty. Then I was told that the recall on the transfer case would be valid until 100000 mile. So when my transfer case needed to be repaired at 92000 miles. I contacted Mazda & after months of back & forth I was told I didn't qualify for them to take care of the repair even though it looks like a monster took a bite out of the transfer case at 92000 miles because according to their records my car was not certified preowned. Iasked to reconsider becsuse the transfer case wss completely destroyed st 92000. They said they could not make an exception with me becsuse then they'd have to make exceptions for others. I was told to get in touch with the dealer I'm getting in touch about that this week. There is something odd about all of this. How come Mazda doesn't have the recalls for my car that you have?.
Takata recall my complaint is that I have received several notices referencing the takata airbag problem. Mazda has still not initiated a recall. I have supplied my email address to the tkrestucturing. Com/ppic in reference to the chapter 11 case no. 17-11375 (bls). My complaint specifically is against Mazda and why they are dragging their feet in initiating recalls for the affected airbags. We have not had an issue yet, but do fear what could happen if a vehicle crash would deploy the airbags. Injuries and even death could happen. Mazda needs to begin issuance of the recall notices ASAP. I am using today's date below since a date is required to continue.
