I was leaving for work when I put my personal items in the front passenger side first and then continued to walk around the car to get to the drivers side. Once I closed the passenger side door the car auto locked with all of my items in it including the key. Thankfully I had my cell phone in my pocket which has access to open the car via the Mazda app but it would not work. The spare key was not at the current location the car was at. We had to call someone out to unlock the car. This poses a safety problem because if I put my child in the back seat and close the door to get to the drivers side and it auto locks with them inside as well as my key I would have to resort to breaking the window to get them out. I reported this to Mazda and they deny that it’s a problem, and I have had the vehicle inspected by Mazda and they claim nothing is wrong with it and reset the computer. No warning prior to this happening and my key has never been locked inside before. The battery in the key is not old or dead.

The clips on both my rear molding over the tires have broken causing the molding/trim to fall off while I have been driving.

Hi, I have a 2019 Mazda cx-9. It is a certified pre-owned vehicle we purchased in October 2020. Upon going out to our car yesterday, June 12th, 20212, I noticed that the top left of the center console screen appeared to be damaged. I was perplexed because the car was locked and it wasn't there previously. As I touched the screen, I realized that cracks/peeling were all internal within the screen. I immediately decided to google the issue to see if others have had similar experiences, and I found dozens and dozens of examples. Separately, there is a safety alert on the issue from Mazda (see here: https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2018/mc-10134920-9999. Pdf). Additionally, the issue has gotten so bad that Mazda has issued a warranty extension for this specific problem (see here: https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2020/mc-10176061-0001. Pdf). The extension only is covering cars made through 4/29/17, and ours was made after that so is not formally covered at the moment. I called Mazda customer service, where both my cars are formally registered, to discuss the issue. They told me the best they could offer was for me to take it to a dealer, have the dealer attempt to have it covered under warranty, and Mazda corporate warranty will respond, but their response is final. If they say it's not covered, there is no debating it. As you can see from the picture, this is the exact issue that is currently being covered free of charge in earlier models. A recall should be issued or Mazda should be directed to expand this to later models since this is clearly not limited to the years they currently have listed. See the picture attached and the links above. Thank you.

The Mazda connect information screen has small spider cracks on the upper right part of screen that are inside the glass (if you run your finger over the crack it feels smooth). Information websites pertaining to Mazda vehicles say it's caused by temperature change.
To whom it concern. Leaking water in my passenger seat, at the beginning we though that was the blower motor, we change it, but then got wet again and it went bad again, but I found out that was a malfunction factory the problem with the air conditioning compressor. I took my car to 3 different shops, where the first two, drained my a/c I give up because I was paying money for nothing. I took the car to Mazda dealer, they told me that my car have a malfunction factory and was about the a/c system. I talk to Mazda and ask them to replace it, because this was a factory problem. They refuse to do it. I found a recall for Mazda cx5 with the same problem but not my car that is Mazda Cx9. Thank you araceli torres alvarez.

The front bumper has developed cracks/splitting on both sides near the front headlights. There is a TSB (bulletin 09-022/20) that shows there was a manufacturer defect, which causes this. I was told by Mazda dealer in 01/2022 this had to have occurred within the 3 yr/36k miles to be covered. The issue is, this problem didn’t occur until after that timeframe. I was told to reach out to Mazda corporate for potential assistance. I have spoken to them more times than I can count, they’ve told me they would call me back and do not respond. Mazda corporate has also told me they will cover it, then someone else told me they won’t cover it, I have an email from Mazda corporate stating since I e gone past my 60k powertrain warranty, the issue is no longer covered. They don’t seem to know what this issue falls under, regarding the powertrain warranty or the other warranty. I have extensive email communication from Mazda, but no one ever reaches back out. After spending probably 20 hours on the phone with them since January 2022, I still haven’t been assisted. There are a ton of others that have this same issue with cracking of the front bumper. Mazda asked me multiple times to get them estimates and we went out of our way and got them two separate estimates from their requested body shops. Mazda corporate has completely ghosted us, not following up on this issue and repairs. This crack continues to get bigger and I’m afraid it will get big enough to where the bumper may actually fall off and cause a wreck. Please help.

Water pump faild without warning car overheated and breaking was made difficult. Almost collided with another car do to the breaking not working properly when the car over heated. This problem was or is part of a lawsuit agianst Mazda. Im not sure if there has been a resolution to the lawsuit.
The Mazda connect touch screen has started cracking in the corners 3 so far the past 4 months. I cannot feel the cracks. They are spreading and I am concerned eventually I will not be able to use my navigation. System at all as I will not be able to read it. I am concerned the touch ability will be lost. I understand many other Mazdas have this same defect but my model is not covered under the extended warranty like the other Mazda owners were given - the extended warranty covers vehicles older than mine. It is the same defect.
Infotainment screen has spider cracking from faulty screen when manufactured. Open TSB stating this and Mazda refuses to replace under warranty after 5 months of owning vehicle, spider cracks got worse this year. When I got more spider cracks I contacted Mazda support since the first time I contacted a local dealer. Mazda support denied replacement because “ I do not get my car serviced through Mazda”, this screen issue has nothing to do with a car being serviced. This is a safety issue as you can not see parts of the screen and will only get worse and make the whole screen inoperable when using navigation.
I was driving into the highway and my vehicle just shut off. I was in the car with my children and I was scared that we were going to be rear ended. I had my mechanic look at the car and he advised me that the water pump leaked and the coolant leaked into the oil. I’m having another mechanic provide me with an estimate of how much the repair is going to cost. After the car shut off and I tried to turn it in again the batter, engine and oils light went off and I had the car towed to the local mechanic.

The water pump went out with no notice or warning, flushed all the coolant/water into the engine and failed. Over a $2k repair for a known engine defect with active lawsuits out. A Mazda water pump lawsuit alleges 2007-2016 Mazda cx-9 and 2009-2013 Mazda6 vehicles are equipped with pumps that suddenly fail and cause catastrophic engine failures. The proposed class action lawsuit alleges the vehicles lose engine power and fail to accelerate and maintain speed. The vehicles also allegedly can't readily control steering and cannot fully engage the brakes. The plaintiffs claim the vehicles are at risk of serious crashes because Mazda has failed to disclose the alleged water pump defects. Please investigate for a recall ASAP!.

Internal crack in center display. Mazda mexico refuses to extend warranty since this model has not yet been called even though other previous models already have the warning.
Spider crack screen on the infotainment system. I got the vehicles pre-owned at major world. When we got the vehicles there were small cracks already showing not bigger than the size of a dime but the cracks got bigger and I'm afraid that the whole screen will complete not work in time. . I just had a diagnosis done for the infotainment system at koeppel mada yesterday and they told me that they couldn't see any point of impact on the screen there is also no physical damage on the outside screen so that only tells us that the screen that I have is defective and should also be replaced. There is ssp program that extends the warranty to replace the screeen screen for Mazda Cx9 produced February 11 , 2016 - April 29, 2017 but issue doesn't only involve only those vehicles produced on those days. This issue is happening to Mazda Cx9 2016-2018. .
- water pump failed causing coolant to mix with oil. This repair cost was around $3,900. - luckily this failure happened on our community road and was able to pull into our driveway. Mechanic stated that if this happened on the highway or regular road, this could have caused a major incident and possibly a blown motor. - no, but complaints of similar issues have been reported via my online research. - just by the mechanic I had my vehicle towed to. - there was no indication of an issue until the water pump failed.
Happened to me two times in past three weeks, where I am coming to a stop, or hardly moving, and car suddenly accelerates. Had my foot on the brake and the car was still trying to accelerate. Yesterday, 4/24/21 it took all my strength on the brake to keep the car from pulling into oncoming traffic. I have been driving for 39 years and have owned many cars, and something like this never happened to me. I will be bring the car dealership tomorrow, the car has only 10k miles on it as we don't do a lot of driving with it as we owe two cars. I did not have my foot on the wrong pedal, this is very dangerous and if the dealer does not find anything with the car, I intend to sell it, as this is probably one of the scariest experience I had with a car. It is intermittent, so I am not sure when its going to occur, but twice in the last few weeks is not coincidence ( it also happened to my wife a few months ago, but we thought it could have been due to snowy road conditions). In one case I was coming up to a stop sign, and was braking and car was accelerating as I tried to break. I had to put car in neutral and the shut off car to get to stop. Yesterday, I was pulling out of a parking lot, and was waiting for an on coming car to pass me before I could turn onto road, when car was trying to accelerate, when I had my foot on brake, and took everything to keep the car from accelerating forward into on coming car. Once car passed, I made turn onto road, and issue did not repeat on the remaining mile to my house. I went onto a Mazda forum and I saw a few others who raised the same concern/issue.
Water pump failed and impacted my engine as well. I just brought my car in as well 10/20/2020 no mention of this issue. Beginning in 2007 and continuing through the 2016 model year, Mazda has incorporated its mzi cyclone engine (the cyclone engine) into hundreds of thousands of vehicles, which include the cx-9 for model years 2007 through 2016 and the Mazda 6 for model years 2009 through 2013. The cyclone engine contains an internal chain-driven water pump, which means the timing chain is connected to the water pump and provides the power the water pump needs to circulate coolant through the engine when the engine is running. The chain-driven water pump is located internal to the cyclone engine, behind numerous engine components, including the timing chain cover. Unbeknownst to purchasers and lessees of these vehicles, the cyclone engine contains a defect in design, manufacturing, materials and/or workmanship that causes the water pump to suddenly and prematurely fail well-before the end of the useful life of the engine, which leads to catastrophic engine failure or a costly replacement due to the water pump's inaccessible placement in the engine. When the water pump prematurely fails without warning, coolant is able to leak from the water pump into the oil pan and/or other engine components, allowing it to mix with the engine's oil. The mixture of engine oil and coolant circulates throughout the engine, leading to destruction of the engine. Despite having knowledge of this defect, Mazda continued selling defective vehicles, failed to disclose the defect to owners and lessees, has not issued a recall, and has not remedied the issue and/or compensated owners and lessees of the defective vehicles.
I purchased a 2014 Mazda cx nine a year and a half ago. The other day I was driving and I don't know where my fan got really loud so I pulled over and turned up the heat and turned off any ac. All the sun steam started coming out of my engine and the car died. After towing it to the local dealership I was told that I had two options. I could either buy a brand new car or pay $13,000 to have it repaired. Apparently the water pump broke and the engine seized up. I had absolutely no warning. No leaking, no check engine light, nothing I later found several reviews saying this was an issue with this make & model. I still owe over $16,000 on this car and now I have to get a new car.
The radiator failed internally with no warning, no leaks no engine light nothing, mixing antifreeze into the oil and destroying the engine. My machine informed me that there was no way of me knowing this was happening and its faulty the way they make the radiator it causes this to happen. Now my radiator is bad and my engine. I was driving and suddenly a noise started then power went and pulled over and wouldn't start again. No warning nothing. No leaks no engine light prior.
"spider cracks" in both the left and right top corners that continue to spread, creating larger blind spots while in reverse. This is an issue that Mazda is aware of and impacts many models from 2014 until 2019. Even though this may not be considered a "safety feature" in it's traditional form, it has become common practice to rely on this feature while reversing the vehicle. Much like additional airbags may not be required, if they are, they should be fixed when they are proven to be faulty. Both the local dealer(roger beasley austin north) and Mazdausa refused to cover the cost of fixing the issue even though they are aware it is faulty. There is even a service notice that was put out by NHTSA that discusses this issue and my model is included, however I have been repeatedly told my VIN # does not qualify.
Back windshield wiper won't move. Also the passenger side window in the front. Wont roll up and keeps making a clicking noise.
Mazda Smart braking system, front radar warning lights come on after car is started. Windshield and front emblem is clean. No intense heat. Comes on every time when started. Will not allow cruise control to be set. Sometimes a funny brake pedal feel when applied but does not brake by itself. . . . Yet. There have been tsbs on earlier models with a replacement front camera(fsc) fix. My car does have the new camera but is obviously not functioning properly.
Soul red metallic paint excessive chipping.
The passenger automatic window motor and control stopped working. The car was moving on a highway when it stopped working.
> I have a 2018 Mazda cx-9 with about 70,000 miles on it. Since 2020 this vehicle started developing cracks in the infotainment center screen. I only had about 23,000 miles on it at that time. The cracks are now starting to obscure my back up camera, communication system and nav system displays causing a safety issue. It is distracting to not be able to see clearly on this screen and I am afraid something will happen to me or my kids. About a year ago I did take this car to the local Mazda dealer, for the longest time I thought I did something to it, but I did not. They called Mazda customer service and no good will was offered. There is a technical service bulletin out but not a recall. There are several models older than my vehicle that have had this screen repaired free of charge by Mazda. Same issue - nothing different then what is going on with my car. There are many many of the very same complaints online. Can some please investigate this issue. It is ridiculous.
I just purchased my vehicle about 3 months ago. I was running errands about a week after purchase and was heading home on the highway when the gas notification came on displaying 27 miles left and advised me to get gas. I was about half mile from the exit and the vehicle check engine light came on and it started stalling. Thank fully I was able to get over to the median just in time when it shut down completely. I called roadside and the dealer and explained what happened. I had it towed back to the dealer and they advised me it was because I ran out of gas. I explained it had a quarter of a tank and displayed 27 miles left and it didn't even give me 1 mile to get off the exit. It happened to my husband as well recently and I spoke to a certified Mazda dealer and they explained it could be that the gas tank has a dent causing the reading to be off or one of two floats could be damaged and not reading correctly. I was advised this was a common issue with my year but it's not on a recall. I usually get gas when it hits a quarter of a tank but now I'm afraid that I do it at a half a tank. This should be a recall problem as it causes the car to stall immediately which is dangerous. I had kids in my vehicle in an ice storm. . . I need to have this fixed but it's well over $800.
Unable to see through the backup camera when raining. In motion and stationary.
While driving my 2015 Mazda cx-9 on a very busy interstate, the check engine light appeared on the driver panel. I was traveling with my very young children, ages 4 and 20 months. Approximately 10 miles later, I started hearing a rattling sound under the hood. Shortly thereafter, my car stalled out as I entered my subdivision. My husband had to push the car to our driveway. I called aaa that same day and had the car towed to the dealership that services the vehicle. I was told that the water pump needed to be replaced and was quoted a price to fix the issue. Later, I was told that after further inspection by the dealership that the coolant mixed with fluids and the engine needed to be replaced. I was quoted over $7000 to complete this work. During the course of my research, I have learned that a lot of Mazda customers who have this model vehicle experience this issue quite frequently. I called Mazda customer care and was told that Mazda is not electing to take responsibility for this issue. I was fortunate that I was able to arrive to my subdivision without injuring my children or self, but this is a safety issue that could result in the loss of lives if not corrected immediately.
I've had everything replaced on my car for the air system. When I'm traveling the air seems to work fine. When the car idol's for more than like 5 min the air starts blowing warmer and warmer. Had the car taken in more than once for this and they have replaced different things. The problem still keeps happening. I have read where other people have the same problem. Has there been any fix for this being I'm not the only one with this problem?.

I was driving on a highway getting off an exit, and I had my kids in my car and all of a sudden as I am slowing down to come to a stop to turn off the exit my car steering and brakes locked up and everything shut down. Luckily I live in walking distance to the exit ramp because someone stopped and helped me push my car to my house. They had to put it in neutral but it was extremely hard to move the steering wheel. Never had any issues with leaks or anything like this. The car smelled like antifreeze and was running hot. I let it cool off. It was the water pump that was leaking and went out. It was not able to be driven. I researched this problem with this make and model and there is a lawsuit about this exact issue. There are all kinds of complaints and there definitely should be a recall.
I've had my Mazda for only 3 years. I was driving up the hill towards my house to park my car and it just quit working. It shut off and now it will not start. Now I'm stuck paying $400 a month for a car that doesn't even work. It's very disappointing. I think this car should be recalled.
