1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/19/2020

I was accelerating after a traffic light turned green and there were no cars in front of me when the car started braking automatically and came to a full stop. Luckily the car behind me was able to stop in time but there was no warning and no reason. I could have been rear ended. I pulled over and checked the two sensors and neither one was blocked (it had snowed here recently). I'm honestly scared this could happen again and Mazda is saying there are no open recalls about this for my car and that the car is fine.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/20/2019

Automatic break system malfunctions often and does a hard break. Also the perimeter sensor gets disabled numerous time out of blue while driving and stop functioning until the car restarts. The break happens without any prior indication or same situation. It just happens on the regular road as well as highway. But the highway just scares me. But there is no way I can tell Mazda with a proof.

3 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/13/2019

I had a scary safety issue with my 2018 Mazda 3 yesterday. I had left the car running so that my dog would have a/c. My car is has standard transmission. I pulled up the emergency brake button but as I was exiting the car my dog accidentally put her paw on the emergency brake button and the car started going backwards. Thank goodness I was able to reach in and pull the emergency brake button back up. This could have been a tragedy, not only potentially damaging my car and other people's property but god forbid my car rolled into a person. This emergency brake is a serious safety hazard. I have left my car in neutral with the emergency brake engaged multiple times since I got the car last December and am very lucky this incident didn't occur when I wasn't so close to my car. The car should have a sensor or safety feature of some sort that would require there to be a certain amount of weight in the front seat that prevented the emergency brake from disengaging. In prior cars with a normal emergency brake that is either engaged on the floor of the car or pulled up manually near the gear shift this would never happen. My driver side door was open. This issue needs to be addressed. This can't be the first time this has happened and it could very easily have deadly consequences. I know that many people will leave their a/c or heat running while there is a human or dog in the car when they have to step out of the car to get the mail, put something else in the car, etc. In a car with standard transmission, the only way to leave the a/c or heat running is to leave the car in neutral.

Took to annapolis Mazda, $149. 50 diagnosis charge. Got call this morning $1456 to replace abs module. No recall but lots of issues online by owners of same vehicle, same problem. After a car wash at home, the traction control sensor and the tire pressure monitor sensor on the rear driver side tire both failed. The underlying systems continued to function but due to the sensor failure, warning lights for both systems showed up on the dash and abs brakes were unavailable. Repair required replacement of the entire abs module.

6 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

On may 7, 2014, at approximately 11:00 pm I parked in a parking space, on a hill, at towson woods apartment complex. I turned the car off with the emergency brake engaged at over 3/4 of the way up. I was standing about 10 feet outside my car, which was off and stationary, talking to a friend for approximately 10-15 minutes when my car started to roll backwards of its own accord. I attempted to push it, which failed, and then I jumped into the drivers seat and tried to pull the emergency brake up as far as it could go, which did not stop the car. It then crashed into the bumper of another car. Because the wheel had been turned to the left when I parked, the car had rolled at an angle so that only the right side bumper made contact with the other car’s big aluminum bumper that sticks out. After driving the car out from against the bumper, I found there to be cosmetic damage that included the bumper sticking out. (estimate $855) may 16, 2014 at 9:00 am. After approximately an hour and a half I was told that the technicians found that the emergency brake applied when the handle was applied all the way up, which they termed “within normal operation. " however, for “peace of mind,” they told me that they tightened the brake so that now it only goes up 5 clicks. The actual wording used is “tech made minor adjustment so ebrake does not go all the way up. ” on may 21, 2014, at approximately 7:05 pm, I started my car and a flashing light on my dashboard appeared. This is the “bsm off” light, in regards to the blind spot monitoring. I read the manual and it said to clean the area where the bsm sensors are, which I did. It still was malfunctioning so I did the next step in the manual, which was to take the car to the dealer. Estimate $250 on June 2 the problem happened again. The parking brake goes all the way up. We are taking it back to the dealer again to have it fixed.
