36 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/09/2020

I have taken my car to multiple Mazda dealers over the last several months with complaints of something very wrong with it structurally, specifically in the suspension, driveline, etc. Every time I plead with them that I am scared to death to drive this car because I truly feel that I might die in it due to its defects, but every time I am forced back into it because they say they cannot duplicate my concern and that the car has nothing wrong. I've caught freeman Mazda of irving falsifying their internal work orders and giving me ones showing that they can't find anything wrong. My battery died about a month ago, they gave me a test strip that stated my battery needed a charge, but I got a glimpse of their copy which stated the battery had a bad cell and needed to be replaced. I have video evidence of the defects that exist with my vehicle. On the smoothest roads in dfw at low speeds my car is rocking back and forth, bouncing up and down, and it truly feels like my axles are not rotating in sync that results in severe vibrations, shuddering, and the feeling that my axles will break or that a wheel will come off at the very least. I've had so many panic attacks, suffered an amount of mental anguish I can't begin to quantify, lost wages, almost lost my job, questioned my own sanity from being told almost two dozen times that they can't find anything wrong. I need help, I really am begging. They are refusing to acknowledge the defects my car has and writing my safety off like my life does not matter. I don't want to have to get seriously injured, hurt someone else, or die in this car because I feel an accident is impending. I've been so scared for my life in this car that I've spent over $2k on rental cars because I didn't want to die and Mazda has just left me hanging with no regard for my safety.

37 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/26/2020

From a full stop, vehicle lags or lurches from takeoff when you hit the accelerator. This is a known problem by Mazda on this vehicle (gen 7) after 3000 miles or more. When I hit the accelerator (especially on a new car), I expect it to go. This lag in moving off the line can be dangerous, in my opinion, but apparently not in Mazda's. Been trying to get it fixed for past 6 months, but hearing it's not a priority for Mazda japan, since this problem is newly being reported on 2019 and 2020's and they don't consider it a safety issue, just an annoyance.

38 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

Car lulls/jerks when accelerating from low speeds car lacks power most of the time and performs poorly engine loses power, several occurrences of what would appear to be limp mode ( can't get passed 2000-3000 ) rpms car has erratic idle rpms, sometimes high and sometimes low I've recently heard the engine roar while idling and hissing from the engine bay when shutting off the engine also sounded like the car was dieseling after shut down likely because the car was beginning to overheat from the immense stress in the engine from running too lean car has poor sound absorption in the cabin, sounds like you're in a airplane every bump it goes over reverberates through the car for an extremely unpleasant and unsafe experience feels like there is excessive play in the front axle wheels seem to drag and thud/thump like there is a flat when there is not I've had my wheels aligned twice already, they've balanced my tires several times, even changed a wheel bearing (I am aware of the TSB released to address these concerns and you blame it on a bearing) nothing makes this better and it is getting worse my car has been to the dealership for this complaint 3 times already this year ( yes that is every week out of 2020 so far). This is becoming a complete burden in my life and I am not going to be the person who has to die for Mazda to address this.

39 Power Train problem of the 2013 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/04/2019

While coasting, application of the brakes will make the headlights flicker. An ecu voltage monitor registers a drop in the voltage that lasts for as long as the headlights flicker which is approximately 3 seconds. Mazda is aware of this problem and apparently a software update to the ecu will solve it. They offered this for free under the 6yr/60k mile warranty but apparently did not tell their customers.

41 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

Water gets into the trunk and fills up the spare tire well. Causing mold and rust inside trunk. Throughout baring inside clutch/transmission component explodes destroying the clutch and transmission. Parking break doesn't disengage correctly causing brakes to wear down quickly. Water getting into rear break calipers making them defective. This has happened mainly in city street driving but noticeable on the highway.

42 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/13/2019

For these incidents there was friends who was in my vehicle during and even witness these incidents happen while in the vehicle. On the way to work I tried to downshift on the sport mode like I usually do. But it continued to stay in 5, then all of sudden it jumped to 3 as I slow down a bit then all of sudden to 1 which made the car jerk a bit both times due to gear drop and cause the car to rev at a higher rpm. Which almost cost an accident. This is happening quite often so I had to switch to normal drive mode( d) on another occasion the abs, traction control light would turn on after making a quick left or right turn but this happen only a few time, the only way to turn the lights off was to park somewhere safe and turn the car off and back on to remove the lights. Now it's summer time an third problem has appear, for some random reason air conditioning system is going crazy and blowing hot air instead of cold air in the crazy texas summer heat, what's even more crazy is driver side blow extremely hot air and passenger side blow hot air but at a lower degrees. Sometime even smelling a smoky burning plastic smell. I find it extremely unsafe for a car to have problems like shifting and causing the car to lag in shifting gear properly which cause to jerk in moving traffic which can cause a accident. To add even abs and traction control might have issues which scares me even more. Now even hot air with maybe a burning plastic smell. Car has always been check properly but these driving with these unsafe issues can cause accidents and even worst death if not check properly. Most important feature in a car is it's ability to accelerate and stop properly, without those, it becomes a dangerous object on the road.

43 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

My car suddenly made a big clunk noise and I was warned of a power steering malfunction. I have also been warned multiple times that due to a malfunction the safety systems have been disabled, another issue in having is a headlight malfunction. When the headlight malfunction occurs the digital speedometer gets very dark and I am unable to tell how fast I am going. There is no way to turn the brightness up to see the speedometer again until the error code goes away. Mazda told me I must leave my windows down when the car is in a hot climate to prevent it from overheating while not in use. . . I live in ohio so the weather is not extremely harsh. I've take the vehicle to the dealership multiple times and they have not fixed any of the issues. I called Mazda corporate and was told what would you like me to do about it I was told my issues had no remedy. The corporate call center would not put me through to anyone else for further help. I feel unsafe in my vehicle and it's not even over 8500 miles yet.

44 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

From a full stop and foot on the brake pedal, move foot to hit the gas pedal and a delay or lag is experienced about 50% or more of the time. The regional Mazda expert and dealership have verified the problem and nothing but excuses why they cannot figure out how to fix it have been stated, therefore I have been living with it for over 20k miles on a new car. While starting from a full stop and forgetting about the delay in propulsion, it has caused several near-miss accidents from oncoming vehicles. When I hit the gas pedal, I expect the car to move forward!! this is dangerous!! the dealership does not have a solution and is pointing to Mazda japan for a solution, but nothing for over a year now.

45 Power Train problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

- rear view mirror fell off while on the freeway. Hot days will break down the adhesive and cause the rear view mirror to fall off. - brakes vibrate harshly when in sport mode. Faster the vehicle goes, the more harsh the brakes will vibrate. - acceleration is jerky on low end (1st/2nd) gear. In stop and go traffic, or going up-hill on load, acceleration will feel jerky when try to keep a steady speed between 5-15mph. Car feels normal when pushing the acceleration harder.

50 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/08/2018

This vehicle cannot tolerate even the slightest bit of slush or snow or ice on the road. The wheels start to spin and it goes nowhere. Many times in light wintery conditions, the vehicle failed to handle the winter conditions, especially on any kind of an incline, and my whole county is located on one big incline. This vehicle is supposed to have full time traction control. That's laughable. On the slightest incline with 1/4" of slush on the road, we were forced to turn around and take a route that is flat. The car just cannot handle it. I cannot give it to any of my daughters as they all live further north than we do. It needs to go to a florida or texas or California owner.

51 Power Train problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

When from a full stop, then with when needing to accelerate quickly, there is a delay in engine response. Usually half a second to one full second delay in engine response before it starts to accelerate. One one occasion, it did not accelerate at all. I had to then let my foot off of the gas pedal and press down on the gas again for it to finally accelerate. This was very dangerous for example when I was on the freeway. My lane was stop-and-go traffic, but the lane to my right was open, so I waited till it was clear then turn the steering wheel to the right and press the gas pedal. Well to my surprise it did not accelerate and consistently moved around 5 mph, well there was a car coming in that lane and my car would not accelerate so I let off my foot and press the gas again and it started to accelerate.

59 Power Train problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

I purchased my 2012 Mazda 3 one year ago (2017). I first noticed the issue about a month after owning my car. I turned on my air conditioner at first low, then all the way up, it felt slightly cool, but only as if my fans were blowing and nowhere near what an air conditioner should properly feel like. This was after letting the car warm up, and driving on back roads or highways as well as when parked. I brought the car back and the technician had some trouble figuring out how to fix it. The ac compressor was replaced, and yet I am still now dealing with a car that will not blow cold air! only semi cool on the highest fan setting ! also when accelerating and having the air conditioner on my car does not accelerate as well or feel as though it is driving as well as it does without needing the air conditioner on. My car really feels like it is working extra hard to put out semi cool air. I have had the air conditioner checked again and it says its not as cool as it should be. I need a resolution to this please.

60 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/03/2017

The car we purchased for my 20 year old son in January 2016 has had several repeated transmission issues and a defective sun roof. After three weeks of ownership, the car's at code appeared and the car broke down on two occassions and was towed to russ transmission in toughkennamon, PA. As a result and to our shock and dismay, in February, the car had a $2800 rebuilt transmission installed. Conversely, after six return visits to the transmission mechanic, he has replaced the cellenoids, the computer and associated wires. However, the car continues to code "at" within 3 days of each of the 6 return visits to the mechanic. ! like the transmission mechanic and my 21 year old son, we are both frustrated and angry with Mazda and the vehicle! please provide a solution or assist us with this formal complaint against Mazda. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you john colgan 484-883-1163.

61 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda 3. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle jerked forward and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. As a result, the driver sustained whiplash that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

62 Power Train problem of the 2013 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

I had warmed up my car for approx. 5 minutes on 1/1/2017, drove approximately 10 miles to a nearby city, and turned onto a city street driving 30 mph. I arrived at a turn onto another city street, completed the turn, and as I began to accelerate, my vehicle felt as if it had shifted into neutral on its own. As I pressed the accelerator, the rpms would rise but the vehicle was only coasting down the street. I checked the gear shifter, and it was still located in the drive position (automatic) I then checked the instrument cluster and and it showed drive with no maintenance or problem lights illuminated. I immediately pulled over shifted the vehicle into park, then back into drive. Everything seemed normal, so I continued driving down the same street and about 10 seconds later the same issue happened. I followed the same process as before and then continued to my destination. I believe that this issue is caused by something faulty with the transmission or related components. It seems to have done this randomly or when shifting into different gears. Also seems faulty as their are no other indicators of an issue. I feel that this is a very dangerous issue as if this were to happen during my transit to work each day (via highway, traveling 65 mph) the possibility of an accident is great I believe. I have conducted some research online and my findings indicate several other owners of the same vehicle have had this same issue with their transmission, costing them unnecessary dollars as well as risking safety by something I believe to be faulty equipment.

63 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

Clutch needs replacement as per Mazda service department. Car is 6 years old and has 53000 aprox. I have read blogs about this being a common problem for certain Mazdas between 2009 -2012.

64 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Steering wheel, at any speed, moves slightly from side to side causing it to be crooked. Alignments and balancing has not solved the problem. The wheel is loose in steering and increasingly scary since it is slightly crooked and can be very hard to keep the car from over steering even when driving straight on a perfectly paved road. I'm afraid the steering pump is corroding. Please investigate as newer models and Mazda in japan had a major recall for this very issue. Please do a us recall as it's definitely a safety issue and very unpredictable especially on curvy or bumpy roads.

65 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda 3. While driving approximately 70 mph, the service transmission indicator illuminated and the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the traction control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

66 Power Train problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/09/2016

Typically but not only when travelling at high speed, the automatic transmission of my 2003 Mazda 3 shifts down from the 4th to the 3rd gear. This causes the car to jerk violently and the controls to illuminate including check engine, no traction and at. My mechanic could not find a cause of this, and he serviced the transmission by changing the filter and transmission fluid but the problem persists. He suggested that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and if so, did you figure out what caused it and how to fix it.

67 Power Train problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Mazda 3. While driving, the vehicle downshifted into third gear and the transmission indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 163,000.

68 Power Train problem of the 2005 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Vehicle will not start unless key is on put into neutral then starts. Sometimes green p light does not light up.

69 Power Train problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

As I was turning into a parking spot to park my car, the car accelerated on its own and ran into a concrete wall. I have had issues with this car's programming, including when I took my car in to get fixed after the safety recall in January '16. As I realized the car was accelerating - and pushing on the brake would not stop it - I lifted the emergency brake. The crash ultimately stopped the car - not the brake or emergency brake, and the airbag deployed. Less concerned about the damage to the outside of the car, and more concerned that I had zero control over the car and any ability to stop it.

70 Power Train problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/27/2016

When decelerating, I'll push in clutch, apply brake, and shift to a lower gear. As I let out the clutch, car will sometimes lurch forward (as if I'm depressing accelerator even though I'm not). I must immediately depress clutch again and let out slowly to prevent the sudden surge in acceleration. Most often happens when I am coming out of a turn and begin to let out clutch. Also, at 3 1/2 years old, with 95,000 mostly highway miles, manual transmission has started popping out of 4th gear while driving. I'll be driving along and for no reason shifter will pop out of gear. Independent transmission shop said cause is likely bad bearings inside transmission and recommended replacement with manufactured transmission. I never had problems with my 2010 Mazda 5 with 5 speed manual transmission. I've reported problems to Mazda service and of course they can never get problem to repeat itself while they are driving.
