1 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

Seat tracks broken - Mazda USA customer experience rep said that the driver seat assembly (track, bolts, etc. . . ) in my 2010 Mazda3 are expected to wear and damage for a second time within the 68k miles I have driven this car since I bought it brand new back in Aug. Of '09. The track was replaced after 34k miles. Now 34k miles later, the track is broken again and I have a quote to have it replaced. Mazda is stating this type of wear and damage is expected to happen to this part of the car and is normal. Recent Mazda service location visited disagrees. They agree with me that this is a safety hazard, not a normal wear issue. Mazda USA does not agree this is safety related and will not help to remedy.

2 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/13/2017

There was a pop I felt in my back as I was driving (July 2017) I never thought much of it at the time. Due to my work, I had my vehicle maintenance many different Mazda dealerships. I have had my dash replaced (wescott, national city, CA) but no one mentioned the seat problem that I can recall. Now it is December 2020 and the entire right side of the seat has broken? while driving I sit askew the right half of my body is lower than the other. I shouldn't have to pay for another seat when this was an active recall no matter the delay.

3 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Front left seat support under driver's seat broke loose, causing entire seat to tilt backward during acceleration on a city street. Only a firm grip on the steering wheel prevented me from losing control of the vehicle. Only after searching on the web did I find an existing recall for seat "inspection". No contact from manufacturer about this recall.

4 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/18/2016

Drivers seat broke loose. Was at a stop light. When I started my left turn the seat suddenly rocked back and then slammed forward. I almost lost control as my foot had come off the gas pedal during the rock back and then stepped back on it as I was thrown forward forward. The car has always had a clicking noise coming from the drivers side seat.

5 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

The driver's seat breaks away from the floor of the vehicle when sitting in the seat causing the driver to have to lean forward or else the seat rocks way back causing the driver to hold themselves upright. During a fast acceleration or quick stop the chair exhibits characteristics that can only be called unsafe and unsettling to the driver. I can only imagine how the seat will hold up in the event of a collision or accident. The vehicle was parked when this was first noticed.

6 Seat Broken problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

My daughter was driving at 65 mph on the interstate. The road was straight and she was traveling in the right hand lane when she was struck from behind left of center by another vehicle. Her car bounced off the right side guardrail and then spun across the roadway. Her car then struck the concrete barrier on the left side of the road. My daughter and her passenger were thrown backwards due to the impact from behind and my daughter lost consciousness at that point. She suffered a concussion and has had frequent and sometimes severe headaches, along with back and neck pain since the accident. The photos I am sending were taken after the vehicle was towed and the debris from the roadway was placed in the backseat of the car which is forcing the seats to be in a more upright position than they were at the crash scene, but you can still clearly see that the seatbacks broke. This is a very dangerous and preventable problem that needs to be addressed.

7 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/29/2015

I noticed that my seat was rocking on the left side and would lift up. When I got down on the floor board to see what was going on I noticed that one of the front welds was completely broke off and laying on the floor board. While taking my daughter to daycare this morning, I went to accelerate and the other side of my seat broke and my entire seat went back, almost causing me to get into an auto accident when I lost control of the car. Not only was my and my 3 yr old daughters safety at risk, but I now have lost a day of work until this can be fixed. As if this was not enough, I spoke with Mazda corp. (1-800-222-5500) about 3 weeks ago b/c my dashboard is totally melted. The representative was very nice and Mazda is going to replace my dashboard after years of the run around at the dealership. The bigger issue: how is it that Mazda is involved in a class action law suit for their dash boards melting, and they have plenty of complaints filed in the NHTSA website for faulty seat welds, and there is no recall on either of these things???????????????? why??????????? do lives have to be lost for the government to do a recall????.

8 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/21/2015

Seat welds broke while driving. Driver seat is now no longer attached to the car.

9 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/17/2015

Upon accelerating from a full stop, the left-front mounting bracket of the driver's seat broke at the weld point. This resulted in instability and significant rocking in the driver's seat when accelerating, braking, and turning. The seat instability could significantly impact the safety of the driver during an accident, rendering safety mechanisms such as the seat belt and airbags ineffective. As the mount broke under normal seat usage and driving conditions with no previous vehicle accidents, I am doubtful whether the mounting bracket is sufficient to withstand the impact of a crash.

10 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The drivers seat made a popping sound and now rocks back and forth like a rocking chair. I looked underneath the seat and discovered that a weld on the left side of the seat is broken. I went on line and discovered dozens of complaints about this weld breaking. It even appears as a problem on a car review site. This is a safety issue, and either a design flaw or poor workmanship. Mazda should be made to fix it.

11 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/30/2014

While driving, my front driver seat broke loose from the left rail. After inspecting the seat, I noticed it broke off the part that is welded to the rail. This could have easily caused an accident. I've already seen multiple other related incidents reported. I'm going to the Mazda dealer tomorrow and see wheat they will do. Ps. I'm 180 pounds, so it seems this seat was poorly welded.

12 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/09/2014

Driver's side seat is becoming loose and "clunking" upon cornering and acceleration. A post to a Mazda group, as well as google searches results in hundreds of complains of the seat tracks breaking and this being a "common fix". This should be a huge safety concern that could cause an accident, or cause further injury in the case of an accident.

13 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/30/2014

Driver seat broke while driving, very loose after. Upon inspection found that a metal bracket on left rail broke (split in half).

14 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/21/2014

I was driving down the road and heard/felt a clunk and the driver seat tilted back a few inches and became unstable. The seat now moves freely up and down and is not currently safe to drive. This was a result of weld on the seat bracket breaking and the seat losing its support. I looked online and found over 100 complaints for the same issue.

15 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

One of the arms that attach on the drivers seat broke in half while driving. Which now causes a rocking motion in the seat.

16 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/21/2013

While accelorating from a stop sign I hit a small pot hole and suddenly my seat flew back. The seat broke completely free from the mounting brackets at the two from mounting points. Upon insepection the welds on the mounting bracket snapped clean off. Due to the sudden reclining motion my neck was extremely sore from the sudden and abrupt rearward reclining motion this caused. If this were to happen on the highway to a person who is shorter then myself, loss of the control of the vehicle is very possible. Once I was able to reach my destination I notified Mazda who claims they have never heard of such a problem. Upon further searching the internet I found many other Mazda 3 owners are having the very same issues. I purchased the car brand new in July of 2009 and it has been maintained. I have not had any other issues with the vehicle.

17 Seat Broken problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/08/2012

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that the driver's side plastic height adjuster for the seat broke, causing the seat to move whenever the contact completed a turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the height adjuster needed to be replaced. The failure and current mileage was 47,000.
