38 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/21/2021

I was coming up on a car waiting to make a left turn. While attempting to move to the right-hand passing lane, five lights lit up and the power steering went out. The five lights were "power steering malfunction indicator light", "tsc/dsc off indicator light", "security light", "abs warning light", and "seatbelt warning light" (even though my seat belt was on and buckled). Realizing I could not turn in time, I attempted to stop instead and could not stop in time to avoid striking the other vehicle. There had been no indication of problems with any of the indicated systems prior to this incident. The vehicle is currently in possession of our insurance company, as it was deemed a total loss, and no inspection for defects has been performed.

39 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/19/2021

My 2014 Mazda 3 had very bad wear on the rear brakes, but not on the front. I took them apart, and both calipers were frozen. I contacted the dealership and they told me that there was a recall, but only for the cars manufactured in mexico, not in asia. The recall needs to be expanded, as Mazda denied there was any problem with these calipers. Clearly there is a more widespread problem than Mazda will admit.

40 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/08/2021

Component: abs hydraulic unit; how was safety at risk: the failure of the abs system clearly poses a risk; reproduced: the original abs hydraulic unit has a known design flaw that causes it to fail under mild environmental conditions (see, e. G. Sb-10053757-3542); inspected: the problem has been diagnosed by an independent mechanic; warning lights: the abs light (and occasionally dsc and brake lights as well) sometimes became illuminated.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/16/2021

After a hard brake event to avoid a crash, brake pedal is soft and loses pressure. Identical to many, many Ford and Mitsubishi reports on models that use the same abs equipment. Abs valves probably leaking internally. Dealer refuses to remedy and insists brakes are fine - they are not, significantly worse since hard brake incident. Oem abs part no longer available (I wonder why?) so the only repair option is a used part that is probably also defective in manufacture.

43 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/13/2021

I was driving my vehicle straight ahead on a two-way city street with no other vehicles in front or on my sides. I was traveling at a speed of 40 mph. The two-way street is separated by a concrete divider and trolly tracks. A "brake!" alert appeared on the display screen followed by beeps. Suddenly the brakes were engaged bringing the vehicle to a complete stop causing the vehicle behind to come to a screeching halt. In a few seconds I was able to drive off.

44 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/18/2020

Without cause: the vehicle will suddenly detect the presence of another vehicle and/or sense an imminent collision and subsequently applies the automatic braking system, causing the vehicle speed to suddenly decrease. This has happened repeatedly over the course of driving the car and resulted in being almost rear ended numerous times. This is a very dangerous scenario and could easily cause a severe accident, especially on the freeway when everyone around is going really fast and needs more time to react to the sudden and sharp slowing down of my vehicle. This happens in various locations, freeway, highway, or in the city. I have taken the car to the dealership numerous times to have this fixed, but get a different answer every time I take it in. But the problem remains unresolved and continues to place me, my passengers, other drivers, and even pedestrians in harms way.

52000 miles and warped brake rotors. Car stops fine. No danger just shimmy in steering wheel when stopping. This has happened way too soon. If it’s about zoom zoom zoom then Mazda should be using a better quality rotor. I will be attempting to do the brake repair myself.

My car automatically applies its brakes when it shouldn't be. I was driving at a speed of around 60 mph following a pickup truck. The truck starts flashing to turn right, I started to brake a little, my speed was reduced to around 40-45 mph. . . Just when I was ready to hit the gas pedal again, because the truck has fully completed his turn ( was all the way on the other street). . . My Mazda 3 2018 hit the emergency brake to slow the car really fast to around 10 mph !!! there was absolutely no risk of a crash, my girl friend was in shock, she didn't understand what happened. Sorry if my english is not so good, I usually speak french !!! the car have only 2000 milles, I bought it new on March 2020. . . Just before covid-19 !!!.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/22/2020

Vehicle was off and unattended in parking lot:manual transmission which ive driven my whole life & I'm no spring chicken. Live in flat city where hill/rolling back has never been an issue. Car has electric parking brake. 1 day a year into the lease, was parked @a pump@tgas station &when came out,car had moved/rolled back. Shockingly I thought I messed up/might've forgotten2 engage parking brake, despite it becoming 2nd nature. Thanked god didn't roll back into anything/anyone, vowed 2 be xtra mindful/careful. Turns out no matter how careful/mindful I've been, just the other day it happened again. This time, husband was in the car w/me &swore saw me as usual, as 2nd nature, engage the electric parking brake. Mind u,have never put it into 1st year 2 park because never needed 2. I guess should have this time as back-up 2 the electric parking brake that didn't engage. We were across the lot at the atm when we saw car rolling back. Husband ran 2 try 2 stop it before it could hit something but he didn't succeed. It was 2 heavy & ended up crashing in2 the posts& handrail that I guess are there for that exact reason. Posts stopped car but husband hurt his wrist & neck in his attempt 2be superman. Posts of course had no damage. Contacted Mazda, they said they'd check it out. I referenced that there was a recall in prior years. They said no recall has been announced for this year. During this whole covid-19 & husband being furloughed, the last thing we need is an extra expense as my insurance deductible will be. Car is @dealer now& they're testing it 2see if it happens while in their shop. I hate for this to be a faulty part or warranty issue but also hoping it is so it will be announced &other people can learn about this horrible possibility o grateful that car did not roll back and injure a person or an animal! ugh! beware! .

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

Soft brake pedal. Abs brakes not funtioning. Stability control disabled. Braking proportioning not functioning. All related to abs module issue that Mazda is aware of but won't recall. Severely affects the safe operation of the vehicle as the stopping power and stability are decreased when abs unit fault occurs. Prohibitively expensive to replace and is not covered by warranty, even on low-mileage cars. Service bulletin has existed for years and needs to be elevated to recall.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/20/2020

I driving uphill on a residential street. As I started to slow to turn the Smart brake support flashed brake on my dash and immediately engaged the brakes and stopped the car. The road had a very slight curve with a few cars parked. There were no other moving vehicles in the area. If a car had been behind me it would have caused an accident. The system has given false warnings a lot but this was this first time that it stopped the car. I brought it to the dealership 2 days later and they tested the car and said it is working normally.

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

Vehicle is 2 months old and the automatic emergency braking is going off in the middle of the street with no cars around. Today it went off in the middle of traffic and luckily the driver behind me was paying attention. I called the dealer to ask about servicing the recall and they said they did not have a solution. When I told them I almost got rear ended. Their response was thank goodness you didn't and if there was anything else they could help me with. Zero offers to help or concern for an obvious safety issue with this vehicle.

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

I was driving on us one between ft. Pierce and vero beach, just before christmas, 2019. There was no traffic in front or besides me, although there were cars approaching from the rear. The car suddenly violently shook and came to an immediate stop. I tried to start it, and nothing happened. I could see cars coming up behind me and knew I could easily be hit from the rear. Thankfully they saw I wasn't moving, and they were able to move to the other lane. After 5 or 6 attempts, I finally got the car started and pulled off the road. I had not heard anything about this problem and thought perhaps I had caused the situation. I did not report it at that time as I did not consider it could be a defect. I now know that it is.

60 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

Dear sir or madam, I leased a new Mazda 3 on 12/20/2019. At the time of signing all documents I was provided with a document to sign that the dealership were not allowed to sell me a car with an open recall. After registering with the Mazda app I found out that there is an open recall. Is this legal and what are my rights? this seems extremely dishonest. I would appreciate your feedback and advice on what I can do in this situation. The vehicle may unexpectedly stop while driving due to inadvertent activation of the Smart braking system (sbs) automatic emergency braking system. Many thanks.

62 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

These issues been happening since the second month I owned my 2019 Mazda 3 hatchback. 1- suspensions, they're very rough & harsh. , they bounce so much for no reason, I damaged one tire already while I was driving on i476 normal highway where I stepped on normal pothole ended up damaging my tire, suspensions are really dangers on all roads. 2- "adaptive cruise control" this feature many times almost caused an accident, rear end specially on highways. For some reason it doesn't detect the car in front of me when I have auto cruise enabled, no rain clear weather, this been reported more than 5 times to the dealership & its hard for them to tell what happen. They even had specialist came from CA to check up the car however it was declared the car has no issues, yet I still have issues every day, s 3- emergency breaking, sometimes it enables for no reason & the cars behind me almost rear ended me, they think I did break check but I don't the brakes! 4- peruzzi Mazda, where I purchased my car, said they will never work on my car again because "it wasted enough of their time". I have video of me picking up the car from peruzzi Mazda, dealership & it won't start up out side the service department & I called the manager & he said leave for next day, he called me day after saying it was my iphone charger. . . I asked him how the tech was able to bring it outside to the front door without no issues? he refused to answer. I work at a hospital & I daily my car to work, its not safe for me or to anyone on the road to drive it at all.

64 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

I leased this car brand new in 2016 , since then, I have had two incidents which while parked and in gear with the mechanical e-brake set I have walked outside to find my car not where I left it. The first time this happened was in September of 2017 resulting in substantial damage to the passenger side as well as the rear end. I was living on block island and the car let loose out of the parking spot and rolled backwards into a tree doing significant damage to the passenger side and completely taking the mirror off. After hitting the tree the car the redirected towards another group of small tress causing damage to the drivers side where it then stopped in a stone wall damaging the rear bumper. After a battle with both Mazda and the insurance company I was left repairing the car myself. On October 10th of this year I went outside to start my car to find it had yet again released itself and was in a ditch at the end of my driveway. Causing damage to both sides of the vehicle, the rear lights and bumper cover. This time the car went down into a ditch so there is also damage to the undercarriage as well. I have spoken with Mazda and they claim there is nothing wrong with the car. Luckily in both incidents the car was in rural area so it didn't injure anyone and it only took out vegetation and a stone wall. I pay a substantial amount monthly to lease this car and I no longer feel safe driving it, I fear what will be behind it next time the e-brake lets loose. I have been forced to bring a wheel chock with me whenever I go into the city since the incident in 2017. Due to the insurance company delaying any progress on fixing the car I have been forced to rent a car paying out of pocket the expense so that I am safe on the roads. Any help or direction in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have photos and quotes I can obtain from the garage if necessary.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

2015 Mazda 3. Consumer writes in regards to defective brakes.

66 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

The Smart brake system is malfunctioning. The car slams on its brakes for no reason. No vehicle is ahead of me. I have been driving at highway speeds when this occurs and I haven't been rear ended yet. It's happened numerous times before and after I completed the recall. The condition is worse when it's raining. The car has been at the dealership for over 30 days unable to repair.

67 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/13/2019

For these incidents there was friends who was in my vehicle during and even witness these incidents happen while in the vehicle. On the way to work I tried to downshift on the sport mode like I usually do. But it continued to stay in 5, then all of sudden it jumped to 3 as I slow down a bit then all of sudden to 1 which made the car jerk a bit both times due to gear drop and cause the car to rev at a higher rpm. Which almost cost an accident. This is happening quite often so I had to switch to normal drive mode( d) on another occasion the abs, traction control light would turn on after making a quick left or right turn but this happen only a few time, the only way to turn the lights off was to park somewhere safe and turn the car off and back on to remove the lights. Now it's summer time an third problem has appear, for some random reason air conditioning system is going crazy and blowing hot air instead of cold air in the crazy texas summer heat, what's even more crazy is driver side blow extremely hot air and passenger side blow hot air but at a lower degrees. Sometime even smelling a smoky burning plastic smell. I find it extremely unsafe for a car to have problems like shifting and causing the car to lag in shifting gear properly which cause to jerk in moving traffic which can cause a accident. To add even abs and traction control might have issues which scares me even more. Now even hot air with maybe a burning plastic smell. Car has always been check properly but these driving with these unsafe issues can cause accidents and even worst death if not check properly. Most important feature in a car is it's ability to accelerate and stop properly, without those, it becomes a dangerous object on the road.

68 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

Abs and dsc has been disabled due to a faulty abs module and the dealer does not consider this a safety issue. The repair cost is ridiculously high and this should be recalled per the amount of internet traffic alone regarding this issue. This is not a nice to have feature this is a must have as it could safe a life. I have seen reports when the whole system fails. I was told I could drive without it even thou total break failure could occur.

69 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/07/2019

On June 6, 2019 at about 6:45pm while driving in stop and go traffic on the transition from the 241 fwy to the 91 fwy I received an error on my dash (attachment 1) three times within about 10 mins "push button start malfunction"" the car did not stop, over heat or malfunction in such a way to prevent me from driving to my destination, which was 15 miles away on June 7, 2019 on my way to work traveling at about 65 miles an hour on the 5 fwy at about 10 am in the morning with there being no vehicles around the car the car did an emergency break I know this from the dash display which showed a bright red circle with the warning that the emergency breaking system was engaged I've taken it to the dealer that was close to my work location within 1 hour of the event.
