The car was being driven by my wife in the right lane on 3 lane wide I-95 south in connecticut at normal highway speeds, appx 55-60 mph. According to her, the car lurched left at almost 90 degrees and it was as if she had no control over the steering and the wheel was not turning like normal power steering turns the wheel. She crossed over all three lanes, and it crashed into the center divider so that the left driver's side was damaged from front to back. She said it was as if she had no steering control at all. Fortunately she was not injured. But the unexplained loss of steering control sounded like the problem earlier with the Toyota. If you have received any other complaints like this, then there could be a real problem. .

Power steering is not working properly. It is very difficult to turn the steering wheel when at a complete stop. Sometimes I need to slam on the brakes in order to prevent a crash due to not being able to control the direction of the vehicle.
When driving you loose power and power steering. Also I under stand this is under recall, but they cut the recall short of my date of manufacture of 01/07.
My 2011 Mazda 3 is having power steering problems. It goes on and off and creates dangerous situations for myself as the driver and others on the road. The power steering goes off and the car becomes very very difficult to handle and steer. Its almost impossible to maintain control and make turns.

Power steering assist is suddenly lost reducing the driver's ability to steer the vehicle as typically expected, and increasing the risk of a crash, while driving in the streets or in the highway, it happened today and during the last week a few times.
Car's electrical system will cut out without warning. This has happened on the interstate. The radio shuts down, the ability to accelerate is lost, and power steering goes. Several sensor lights come on. I have to fight to get the car to the side of the road and then turn the car off. When restarted the check engine light stays on but the car works fine. This will also happen when the car is idling with the same loss of power. I turn the car off and then back on and it works okay again. This happened in a very mountainous pass recently and there were no shoulders to pull over on and I had no power steering or acceleration. I've taken to several mechanics and they cannot find the issue.
We've had no signs of power steering problems until a sudden failure today, classic signs of the vehicles that were recalled. Our vehicle has only 81,000 miles on it, was manufactured in 09/06, VIN prior to the recall batch, but, based on the failure, it appears earlier vehicles are affected as well. I've contacted Mazda USA (no response yet) and the dealer who said any fix has to come from corporate. The vehicle was stationary at the time of the failure.
While driving the speed goes up and down on its own the automatic transmission of my 2008 Mazda 3 shifts down from the 5th to the 3rd gear. This causes the car to jerk violently and the controls to illuminate including check engine, no traction and at. My mechanic could not find a cause of this, and he serviced the transmission by changing the filter and transmission fluid but the problem persists. One mechanic said it is the speed sensor another the transmissions computer I have spend about 1,800 and I still have the same problems. It is very scary for my kids and myself while driving and I can't afford to get another car. What is the problems with Mazda with my car? can someone please help?! also all the electrical stop working about two years ago, another thing is the steering wheels problems when making a turn it really time forever and it is really slow and heavy.
More that one problem with this vehicle. 1) it starts honking while driving, instrument panel and interior lights flash on and off, the car will only make right turns and will not restart when vehicle is turned off. Yesterday, it did it once again immediately as I turned right onto the city street from a parking lot. Luckily there was another parking lot entrance on the right, so I pulled in, parked and turned off the vehicle. It continued to honk, flash interior lights and instrument panel and ignition would not work nor crank. I tried to restart the vehicle several times over a five (5) minutes, when it finally restarted and I was able to get the vehicle home without it happening again. This vehicle has done this several times and it will start honking in the middle of the night while parked and off for no reason. There are times that as quickly as it started honking it will stop, other times, I must go attempt to turn vehicle on and eventually ignition will crank and engine will start. I have taken it to Mazda but they are not able to replicate the problem and tell me there's nothing they can do. I am worried I will not be able to turn one of these days and hit someone and get hit by someone else when the car decides it won't turn left. Not to mention if the car will not start while I am in a bad area and be harmed while waiting for the car to stop honking, flashing and refusing to crank and start. 2) when you put gear in drive, from either park or reverse, and take your foot off the brake the car accelerates and lunges forward without pressing the gas peddle. The first time it did it I almost hit a parked car! thankful I acted quickly and reapplied the brake. Now I allow enough space, as if I driving a truck and am ready to apply the brake. Dealership states nothing is wrong with it. Mazda needs to take these matters seriously. But it's going back!!.
When driving the affected vehicles in heavy rain or in deep puddles, the alternator belt may slip, causing the power control module (pcm) to incorrectly assume failure of the charging system. Once the pcm assumes that the charging system has failed, the vehicle will stop charging and could result in poor acceleration, loss of steering assist and windshield wiper operation, and a possible engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. ".
While driving the vehicle, the lights flash, radio cuts out, engine glitches and dash lights come on, then power steering is lost. The loss of power steering makes controlling the vehicle very difficult and unsafe. The power steering may come back to normal after a few seconds or may take several minutes to return making controlling the vehicle frightening and unsafe. Episodes will occur randomly and without warning (other that flash of lights and radio cut out for brief moment). Episodes occur frequently and while vehicle is driving at various speeds as well as when stopped, but typically while driving.
The contact owns a 2008 Mazda 3. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start. After a few attempts, the vehicle started, but there was no power steering. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence very slowly. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired in 2010 by star Mazda in glendale, California for the same failure per an unknown recall issued by the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired this time and the dealer was not contacted again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
My car started shaking and I lost control of the steering. I pulled over as best I could and called a tow truck. The dealership says that rats have chewed through the engine harness and other wiring. They say they have seen dozens of cases in brooklyn and queens just like this. They said that rats are attracted to the coating on the wires. Mazda won't issue a recall or repair the wiring. It is a fire hazard and dangerous to drive. I guess they are waiting for someone to be injured or die before they fix it? my car is 18 months old with 7,062 miles. I was parked on a city street in brooklyn and had only driven 3 blocks without making any turns when I had to pull over. My car is located at koeppel Mazda 718-721-9100. They should have all of the details of the damage if you need it. I drive the car almost every day and it is parked on a different street every day. There is no way to know when or which street this happened on.

Lost all power while driving and turning. Abs, brake , ps , battery lights on dash illuminated, car looses steering and then the engine dies. Battery discharged as per load test. Alternator tests fine. Happened two times after the power steering manufacturer recall was performed to remedy the same issue.
I went to go step on brakes to slow down as I was coming up on a vehicle that was stopped due to traffic in front of me when my brakes locked up and I slid right into the guy. I tried to turn my wheel to go on shoulder, but vehicle would not move. I was on the freeway and in traffic. I wasn't speeding as there was no possible way to as traffic was in play, but our lane started to move and I stayed back and when I went to step on brakes, they locked up.

The contact owns a 2012 Mazda 3. While driving 45 mph, the power steering warning indicator illuminated and the power steering seized. When the vehicle was turned off and back on, it operated as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
While driving the vehicle on city streets and highway the power steering stopped functioning. Causing the vehicle to be manuel steering. A less expierianced driver was opperating the vehicle at the time. Had him turn the car off wait a short time and start the car. Power steering was back. Problem persisted and the car is in for repair. I also see steering problem recalls on the 2008-2009 models.
Aeveral recalls for 2008 Mazda3. . . . . However my VIN isnt assosiated with any and I have all the problema. Power steerings unit stripped2 or the 3 bolts holes ans fell down from cracked engine mounts slight rattling. . . . . Stationary and moving. Idle is at 500-1,000 rpms very odd feeling. Random body damage and entire of bottom engine rusty. . . . Paint rusts as well. Just bought the car on finance and really need some help.
The power steering on my car just stopped working and then the next day it was fine. Now, it doesn't work again and I can't drive it. I was in the driveway and wanted to back out to go to work and the wheel wouldn't turn. I need my car for work!! I see others complaining about the same issue - why isn't there a recall? I also had an issue that the gas tank got a whole in it and again - not under warranty, but I see others complaining about that issue as well. My car has about 32,000 miles on it. I bought it in 2014, but it was a brand new 2013 model. I think that this should be covered under warranty or some kind of recall. Like I said, I see others writing about the same issue. Thank god I wasn't driving when the steering decided to quit!! can you help me?.
When I start the car and start driving the power steering stiffens and the dash board lights go on and off and the head lights like its losing power. Then is I push the gas to go the vehicle will shut off with the steering will being hard to turn this happened while backing up and starting to drive on the redidential street.
My clutch blew on 2/7/17 while I was driving on a multilane busy city street. All function of the manual transmission ceased as I was driving, and I coasted across a lane and to the side of the road. I am thankful that I did not get hurt. However, I am very concerned that my car, a 2011 Mazda3, stopped working while I was driving! this directly put my life in danger! I am aware that Mazda has a known clutch release assembly defect - "a significant safety risk to the driver and passengers as often, suddenly and without warning, the vehicle's engine is unable to provide power to the transmission and becomes inoperable. (https://topclassactions. Com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/333511-Mazda-class-action-says-automaker-hid-clutch-defect-decade/).
Everything shuts down,,,it was stationary at time ,,turned wheel hard, seems to me power steering motor shorting out shutting down all systems.
The contact owns a 2007 Mazda 3. While driving 15 mph, the power steering seized and the instrument panel illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was not available.
My battery was dead. I jump started the car and backed out of my driveway. When I started forward, the power steering had an intermittent malfunction and several warning lights activated. I replaced the battery, and everything returned to normal. In my case, there was no problem because the car was in my driveway. However, had I jump started the car elsewhere, a shopping center parking lot for example, the loss of steering may have had adverse consequences. In researching the problem, I found that this frequently occurs in Mazda3s regardless of the year.
Suddenly loss of steering power when backing out of driveway.

Any time I proceed to make a turn, my wheel stiffens. Every light in my dashboard lights up. My radio cuts off and car stalls. This is very dangerous. There is a recall for this exact problem with this exact model of car but my VIN is not covered.
The car has 43000 power steering went out as I was driving causing a problem vehicle.
