1 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/13/2014

All four tires have cracks in the sidewall, parallel to the rim, consistent with pending tread separation failure. Tires were kept properly inflated and rotated every 7500 miles. They were well cared for and should have lasted another year or so. The damage did not lead to a crash due to careful inspection, but could have easily gone undetected. All tires will be replaced immediately.

3 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/06/2012

New car, Mazda m3, purchased in April 2010. Yokohama tires were on the car. Car currently has approximately 18,000 miles and tires have been rotated. Last night while traveling approximately 40mph, the rear passenger tire went flat. Upon removing the tire to fix the flat, the sidewall had split from the tread. This happened on the inside of the tire meaning the side of the tire against the car so it was not visible from just looking at the outside of the tire. The split is 15 inches in length and I can see that there are other areas that look like they are about to split as well. I found NHTSA campaign id number: 12t025000 talking about recall of a yokohama tire that seems to match what I have had. I have contacted my car dealer as the recall says the dealer will replace free of charge, but they aren't aware of any recall. I've been on hold for yokohama for 30+ minutes with no luck in speaking to a live person. I can't afford not to have a car and based on all I've read about these tires, I can't afford to have my children ride on tires that perform like this. I can't afford to wait on a process to determine if yokohama will make good on their warranty claims. I have to purchase new tires and will be purchasing 4 new tires and not yokohama.

4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/21/2009

In early August 2009 at approx. 21k miles when I performed my 7500 mile tire rotation I noticed that all the 4 oe good year rsa tires were very worn on the inside, not the thread area but the area where the sidewall starts. I had noticed this before but had not thought much of it as it wasn't too bad. I drove on a 500 mile trip shortly after this and became more concerned . I had the alignment checked at the destination and it was within mfg. Spec. The alignment people said the cause was probably due to the negative camber on the rear wheels which at -2. 3 and -1. 7 was probably the reason for the wear and that I should replace the tires. Mazda does not provide for adjusting the rear camber. Not having the resources at the time, thinking maybe it was a overzealous sales effort, and to me the tires still looked usable I didn't replace them. Now at 27k miles I have the resources to replace them and the area on the inside corner in much more worn. Mazda gives no explanation, one said should rotate @ 5k miles, another says they put crappy tires on the vehicle. On the internet, people who replace the tires say they continue to have the problem and that it is caused by the excessive negative camber that cannot be adjusted. This is a safety issue in that, with a sour economy many people may not be able to afford replacement tires, many people may not be able to or pay to rotate tires and many people may not check them at all. At the minimum Mazda should provide for adjustment of the rear camber.

6 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/28/2007

I purchased a Mazda 3 new in April of 2006. Between 20,000 - 30,000 miles I noticed that the tires would probably need to be replaced soon. At 32,225 miles, my left front tire blew. The rubber was still attached to the rim, and the outer tread was still in one piece. The entire sidewall just exploded. These tires are extremely dangerous. I replaced all 4 tires in fear that there would be a new incident and not be as fortunate (injuries or damage with this blow out).

7 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/08/2007

Sidewall separation goodyear eagle rsa tire original tire on 2004 Mazda 3 driven 21,400 miles. Previously 2 unexplained flat tires. Taken to the dealer to check tires. No cause found. For the third time, air was leaking from the tire and the sidewall separation with a large deep crack was 3/4 around the tire. When I took it to a goodyear dealer I was told that only the eagle rsa were being replaced on the Nissan's and not the Mazda 3. No further explanation was available. I now have to replace at least one tire and perhaps all four because of this safety hazard.

8 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/13/2004

All 4 eagle rs a p205 goodyear tires on my 2004 Mazda 3 4 door sedan are defective. One tire the sidewall totally cracked and separted and the other 3 tires are beginning to crack and separte. I believe these tires are defective and are a safety hazzard. The goodyear dealer has refused to rectify this situation. I know the tires on the Nissan cars are being replaced for the same defect. However, I was told by the dealer that I would need to replace one tire and the dealer did not check the other 3 tires which when I took my car to another dealer who showed me the separating sidewalls and told me that they need to be replaced. The tire listed as the only option for eagle rsa on your form is p245. These tires in question are p205 so I am not sure how to report this defect.
