1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Parking brake sticks. Happens while stationary or moving. Has resulted in warped rotors, worn brake pads, lowered my fuel economy, most likely ruined wheel bearings, from the excess heat.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

Parked vehicle on Friday and engaged the emergency brake on vehicle. Went to leave for work on Monday in a. M. And when started to give vehicle gas, the vehicle was hesitant and then jerked forward making a loud chunk noise. As I drove down road, approximately 2 driveways, there was a wobbling noise coming from the rear of vehicle. I immediately stopped because it sounded as if a wheel was loose. I did a walk around the vehicle and could see something not quite right on the right rear brake rotor (4 wheel disc brakes on vehicle). Upon further inspection, I noted that there was a piece of what appeared to be my brake pad melted to the rotor. I did not drive vehicle further but contacted local Mazda dealership. I arranged vehicle tow to crossroads Mazda in prince george va. Upon inspection by their technician, they found that my emergency brake cable was locked up and this is what caused the problems. My brake pad on the right rear rotor had disintegrated and large chunks were completely missing. Crossroads arranged warranty repairs to replace my rear brake pads and emergency brake cable in the vehicle and to clean the right rear rotor. Since these repairs, the vehicle seems to be driving better than it ever did. Crossroads employees were super great to deal with and I felt took good care of me. On several times prior to this incident, I had commented on the smell coming from under my vehicle when driven for some time. Obviously emergency brake had been locked up for some time.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 08/04/2009

Brakes have failed 3 separate times in this 2006 Mazda 6. First time I was driving and went through a stop sign. I have the brake pedal to the floor. Pumped the brake and brakes came back on. Second time, backing out of garage no brakes. Had pedal to floor and had to pump them before almost hitting neighbors garage, last time pulled into a parking spot and had no brakes. Hit another car which stopped me. Each time I reported this to polar chevy/Mazda. Each time they had me bring in the car and they looked at it. Each time they reported nothing wrong with the car. Each time they stated that there was nothing wrong with the car and that I needed to have the back brake pads replaced. The last time the brakes failed polar chevy/Mazda called a tech at Mazda. I was told they have never heard of this doing this before. I have told them now 3 times and again each time the car has been brought into be looked at!.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 09/30/2008

I purchased a 2006 Mazda 6 isport in Dec 2005. Since purchase I have had aggressive vibrations in the brake system every 15,000-20,000 miles. While I am a high mileage driver, most driving is on a highway and does not requires start-stop braking. In addition, I have replaced my brake pads when tech's have suggested. I have my rotors turned out by the Mazda dealers 3 times and in the current situation the rotor cannot be turned. The dealer and the Mazda corporate refuse to look into my history of this issue because my car is out of warranty. After much research, I have found several dozen Mazda forums that discuss this same issue with the Mazda 6. I have also found that the government found issues with former Mazda vehicles such as the tribute and its Ford counterpart. This is obviously a problem however the dealers, Mazda's local technician, and the corporate tech line will refuse to look into the matter anymore.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 08/23/2006

At 28,000 mi I had to replace the front brakes on my Mazda 6 sport wagon--right side at 4, left side at 1. I went to three different places--they all said the wear was incredibly uneven due to a fault with the brakes. My (no longer) Mazda dealer sil-tehar in CO said the difference was within their acceptable limits. Obviously, I didn't take the car to the dealer for service. The people who did service it found a part missing--a clip that helps the pad separate from the wheel. The only people who had actually taken the brakes apart (until the replacement) was the dealer. So either they didn't put the clip back when they took them apart or the clip was missing to start--which could explain the incredibly uneven wear.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/29/2005

Front (right) end squeaks/grinds mainly while turning, however has continued after straightening out. Started around 10,000 miles. I've taken it in 3 different times to two different dealers. This last time (now at ~50,000) I was told it was a break pad problem and that: my break pads were 80% worn. My rotors needed to be turned. I was also now charged for this visit that still didn't fix the problem.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/16/2004

2003 Mazda 6 2. 3l a/t with 10,450 miles: right front disc brake component(s) failure. Took the car to a Mazda service center and was told a special repair kit was required but that Mazda was only authorizing the dealers to repair this under warrenty, on a case-by-case basis. I have not experienced brake failure at this time, and I have scheduled service to examine and repair.
