The air bag light is staying on, first blinking, and then it stays on for all of car's operation. I feel unsafe in the car, not knowing whether it will deploy when needed or when not needed. The car is in fine shape, no accidents, and there appear to be a number of complaints about this issue, as well as frustration with the inadequate and expensive repairs people have had to do to get their air bag light issue addressed. Shouldn't this be a formal recall to coincide with the bulletin issued relating to it?.

On July 15 I was driving at a low speed and my air bag light came on. It randomly flashes and sometimes stays on for 2 to 3 days. It has not been fixed due to the cost of repairing it. If the air bag explodes while I am driving this could be fatal to myself, my 1 year old son and my 12 year old son. Every Mazda SUV / truck from 2004 has a recall except mine. The recall needs to extend to the Tribute because there is obviously a serious issue that's needs to be corrected.

The airbag light has been on for about 2 months in the Mazda Tribute. We took the vehicle to duval Mazda to ask them to reset the computer since we figured that was all that was needed. They called us later in the day and told us that to repair the car so that the light would go out, would cost $397. 21. We declined since they told us they needed to rebuild the wiring for the airbags. When we picked up the car (declined the repair), the estimate for repairs stated: "b1881 stored-p/s safetybelt pretensioner circuit failure. TSB: 08-001/05 has updated connectors that are soldered in to replace and upgrade the failing ones. " this sounds like it should be a safety recall item not a customer cost repair issue. Or at the very least, a repair and no charge item done by the dealer since it appears to be a failure of original parts that impact the airbag system. We have not had repairs done at this point since it is a costly one and don't know who, other than the dealer will do the repairs for a more reasonable cost. The dealer did state (not listed anywhere on the itemized list of multiple repairs that they really wanted to do) that the airbag light was impacting the passenger airbag only.

Each time I have used my vehicle since that date I experience the same trouble with the air bag indicator light initially flashing and then staying on steady throughout the duration traveling from location to location.

Air bag light would stay illuminated had it looked at by dealer back in 2005 problem was temporarly fixed started to come back on months after I had the dealer fix it know the light will not illuminate when initial start and there is a beeping sound it beeps 5xs 5xs stops then starts again while driving. I feared that while driving to work that the airbag would deploy or if I was in an accident it may not deploy this seems to me like a serious safety issue.

The passenger’s air bag light goes on and off when one 130 pound person seats on the seat. The dealership employee were rude and try to convince us that is “normal depend how you seat. . € (the weight limit to activate sensor, according to different dealership employees, was 60 pounds, 90 pounds, and 98. 5 pounds ??? !!!). The car has been purchased as a new in one ontario's dealership and it is driven and registered in ontario (it is my wife's car). I think this is a serious safety issue and should be subject of a recall.

The air bag light on my 2003 Mazda Tribute went on. I took it to the Mazda dealer of orange CA. They had claimed to my face that this has been a recurring issue with the Mazda Tributes lately. I was shocked to find out that this serious problem is happening with many of the Tributes not just mine. Why has Mazda not fixed the problem if they are aware of it? they claimed that the issue was with the electrical wiring of the seat belts that connected to that air bag. The seat belts would not lock if we were ever in a crash. Is that safe? does a death need to happen to get attention about the problem? because the car was not under warranty, I paid 486. 00 out of my pocket to fix a defect that was not caused by normal wear and tear. After the repair the technicians could not get the air bag light to turn off. I asked if there may be a bigger problem that was overlooked. They said “no the air bag light still periodically turns on and off. If I or any of my family members gets injured in an accident because of this safety negligence issue, I will sue Mazda. This seriously needs to be looked into to protect people from injury.

The dealer informed the contact that she needed to replace the wiring in the vehicle. The Mazda manufacturer stated that there was nothing they can do to assist with the repair. There were no recalls or warranties for the air bags. The failure mileage was 68,900.

The air bag light on my 2003 Mazda Tribute went on. I asked the local mechanic see why during a routine oil change. He says Mazda has a "technical service bulletin" out for wiring repairs under the seat. He says they know they have this wiring problem. Since my car has 100,000 miles Mazda says it is out of warranty and they won't cover it even though this is their wiring issue. The dealer wants to charge me $700 to fix their wiring problem which is very wrong.

I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute. I have had the car since new and it has been in a garage the whole time. Recently the air bag light went on and I took into a Mazda dealer to have checked out and repaired. The cause of the malfunction was because of corroded connectors found under the front seat of the car. The resulting repair was over $500. 00. Of the repair $127. 40 was parts and the balance was labor. I feel that is a safety device that your life could rely on and feel it is totally negligent of the auto manufacture of the auto manufacture to provide a system that involves safety that is not 100% reliable for the life of the vehicle. This SUV has 84,000 miles on it and failed. I have other cars that have 250 thousand miles on them with no problems. In searching on the internet I find that this is a problem with the Tribute and the Ford explorer and feel that the manufacture should be required to do a recall on the cars and this part replaced with one that is 100% reliable. I think a consumer should feel comfortable that if needed this product would function was it is expected and sold to function.

The airbag light has been repaired at least four times within the last two years. The last time was on July 10, 2008 at clippinger Mazda f, 2539 east garvey avenue north, west covina, CA 91791. Yesterday, July 21, the airbag light has been consistently on. I am concerned about my safety because the bag could deploy unexpectedly, or in the case of an accident, not deploy at all. I am driving a car that feels like having a hand grenade with the pin pulled.
