Car Accelerates On Its Own Problems of Mazda Tribute

The contact owns a 2006 Mazda Tribute. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 mph pulling into a parking space, the engine rpms suddenly increased before the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The driver lost control and crash into a brick building. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were no injuries. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 12v357000 (engine and engine cooling, vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 140,000.

Driving on highway, engine just failed to accelerate suddenly and had to coast over to the breakdown lane. Engine did not turn completely off as it continued to hesitate and rpms fluctuated between 500-1000 but gas pedal would not accelerate car. Immediately put hazard lights on so cars behind me would know thar I was not at constant speed anymore.

I have been experiencing problems with my 2005 Mazda Tribute. The accelerator will be depressed and the car doesn't move. Then it will suddenly lunge forward. Other times, I press the accelerator and there is a jerk as the car once again lunges forward. Yesterday while on the highway, the car suddenly accelerated momentarily. This problem has been listed on the internet many times but it seems that someone will have to have an accident or die before there is a recall. It doesn't appear to be a new problem as they recalled earlier models than 2005 for what looks like the same problem. This happens intermittently and sometimes there are days between episodes. Up until this occurrence, the Tribute has been a wonderful car. This, however, brings memories of Toyota. Please investigate before someone gets injured or killed.
