I was driving normally last week when the driver's head restraint system (known by mercedes as neck pro) unexpectedly and without warning blew at my head. The noise was very loud, and the headrest slammed against my head. Luckily, I was driving approximately 20-25 miles per hour, daytime, on a residential street without too many other vehicles. I was able to pull over to investigate what happened and ensure I wasn't injured and did not collide with any objects in the road. If this had happened on the highway at highway speeds with a less attentive driver, I could see this potentially resulting in a major collision. The road was fat, no bumps, weather was clear. There is no reason why this happened. From what I can tell, the system looks like it failed (plastic clips broke off) and the system did not intentionally deploy. It has not been repaired and is available for inspection. I have not taken it to the dealership for review. The vehicle is in perfect condition with no warnings. It very recently passed maryland state inspection.

Takata recall. I fear for the safety of myself and my passangers while I am driving my car on a daily basis. I have been contacting mercedes dealers in hopes that I can be helped and my car can have it's airbag replaced however to no avail. I would like to be provided with some options because an accident can happen at any time and I am fearful of the possibility of the airbag rupturing causing greater damage. I was also informed that the airbag could rupture in areas with high heat and that is very alarming considering summers in nyc get very hot and humid therefore increasing the chances of that rupture in an accident.

Takata recall--Mercedes Benz of chicago will not perform the replacement and has failed to communicate with customers as to when this will be done.
Takata recall- notified in March 2017 of the recall, still not fixed. Unacceptable if this is a "risk of serious injury or death". 18 months is not a "reasonable amount of time". Doubt we can sell car either. Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. What is the way forward?.
Takata recall, unable to get fix. Vehicle cannot be traded or sold due to outstanding recall not fixed. Will not use vehicle at this time. Mercedes keeps pushing parts availability , now 9/2019. This started in 2/2013.
Upon starting the vehicle I receive airbag warnings. One for the driver side and another one for the passenger side. I can click on "ok" to clear them out but with the airbag recall and no resolution I am fearful of a malfunction. I had my car to the mercedes dealer two times and was told they would need to investigate it, at my expense, which could be anywhere between $500-$4500 depending on what they find. With a safety issue at risk I think the responsibility is on mercedes to investigate and correct this at no expense to me. I will have to sell the car and lose money over it. I keep waiting for the airbags in recall to come in and have been living with it like this for over a year but I am seeing no end in sight to the recall being resolved anytime soon.
Takata recall. I have been getting recall notices (via mail and email) about my car's airbags since January 2018. I have contacted my dealership multiple times about the issue, and each time I am told that there are currently no means with which to replace the defective, potentially dangerous airbags. There is no recourse offered at all by Mercedes Benz at the current time to address this issue, which Mercedes Benz admits is dangerous. My most recent called was today, when I spoke to a service adviser named moe at Mercedes Benz of brooklyn.
Takata recall: I have been trying to get a remedy to this problem since October 2017. I was told on 27 October by the dealership (Mercedes Benz of hunt valley: victoria) that parts would be available in early January 2018. I waited until 31 January 2018 and contacted the dealership, since they didn't contact me. They then said the recall would be remedied in March 2018. I received a letter in April, directing me to call the dealership to schedule an appointment and to ensure they had parts available. When I called they claimed my vehicle was not on the recall list, and I should disregard. However, when I went to the NHTSA website, my vehicle is on the list. Please assist me in reconciling this issue. This is very frustrating, and I want to get this defect repaired. Thank you.
