The tail left bulb mount carrier part number 204-820-15-00-64, one of the terminal in the back, is corroded. Also, one of the cable is burnt. In short, the tail lamp doesn’t work. It is a hazard problem since it affects the brake signaling, turning signaling and all other tail lamps signaling. For many years, I have read many incidents like this reported from owners like me and mercedes has done nothing. I cannot use the vehicle in this condition because it is is a safety hazard.
Drivers side rear taillight issues; brown ground wire shorted out and melted connector plug and shorted out lamp assembly .

On oct 14th at night car was driven in heavy rain off interstate i5 off ramp to exit interstate. There were cars both in front and behind us exiting and upon driving further noticed there was standing water. Other cars were making it through slowly, there was no room to turn around. This car almost made it to the end of the offramp and then stallled. Other cars were forced to go around. Tried to restart the car to no avail. Called for roadside assistance. Noticed smoke coming from the hood and then all lighting went dark in car. Then saw flames from the hood. Quickly ran through water to escape and flames got several feet high. Passer by's had called 911 as entire front of car was engulfed in flames. Fire department had to cut open car hood to put out fire. Car damaged beyond repair and they too were incredulous that a new car would be engulfed in flames after stalling in the rain.

Took car for routine service at local mb dealership on 9/3/16 and was told both front parking lamps/lights are not working, further informed that it is not simple light bulb blow out but something has caused the whole molding/casing holding the light has melted and the entire assembly will have to be replaced. The service adviser stated that he has seen this type of problem before with this type of vehicle. I am not a technical person and can forward email and the details of issue as provided by dealership. I consider this serious safety and fire hazard and wanted to know if this problem has been reported to you before by consumers or by the manufacturer Mercedes Benz. Mileage on form is approximate.
Vehicle was stationary. 1 of the 2 parking light bulbs in the front left headlamp assembly burnt out. When taken to dealer to replace the bulb, the service technician found that the bulb's harness had overheated and melted into the headlamp, requiring replacement of the entire headlamp assembly. The melted harness indicates that there was too much heat and could pose a fire threat in the headlamp, as well as reduce conspicuity due to dimmed or burnt out exterior lighting. This is very similar to the problem with the rear taillight issue in this year/model that resulted in a safety recall (NHTSA campaign number: 14v177000 tail lamp dimming or failure). The front exterior lights should also be recalled and replaced by mb for the same reasons as the rear.
"takata recall" I was driving to work around 10:30 am in my 2009 Mercedes Benz C300 enjoying the commute. As I approached the stop light. . . . . Blank!!!! I lastly remember breaking . . . . To open my watering eyes to see that I hit another vehicle and don't recall anything at all. As I get up in realized that my head hurts and there was a small tear in the steering wheel as a small portion of the bag deployed but not fully. . It appeared to be a faulty bag that has caused this serious inconvenience.

takata recall I own three Mercedes Benz and all three of them have the airbag lights on. They also all have recalls for the same airbag issue. Also, the passenger side in my latest model, my C300, shows the passenger airbag light go on and off even when no one is seating in the seat. And often when someone is sitting in the seat, the airbag doesn't even come on at all.
The contact owns a 2010 mercedes-benz C300. When the ignition was turned to the on position, the instrument panel displayed that the parking lamps failed. The contact attempted to change the parking lamps and observed that they were melted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Car was at the parking front of my home, about to go to work , car won't start , no warning , nothing, completely dead, had to be without car for a week, repair costs 1,200. Towed to mercedes service. Specific issues was steering column lock failed. I have so many issues with this car, lights, windows, tires, control power fails many times when car is in driving mode. So many owners has same problems, it is a safety issues why this wasn't reported and recall on this one. Thought mercedes cars are most reliable, obviously that's not true .
The car won't start when you turn the key. I have taken it to a mercedes mechanic and he can't find anything wrong after being looked at for a b1 service. We thought this would fix it. Now it won't start again. When turn the key, everything lights up as if the car is going to start but it won't. It had been starting after turning the key a few times and eventually it would catch. The problem started 2 weeks ago, now it won't start at all.
Front lights socket over heat and melting. Manufacture and dealership refuse to replace, however car still in full extended warranty safety issue and can cause fire.
Takata recall , exterior lighting recall.
Second incident of all lights suddenly failing and then being restored within three seconds dealer fixed by changing out lighting switch because their database showed similar incidents with other similar cars and changing the lighting switch appeared to cure the problem although no problem could be seen with switch. Although only 3 months out if time on the original warranty mercedes declined to pay for the repair and told me that I should have considered buying an extended warranty. I remonstrated that this was a potentially serious fault and that mercedes should issue a recall -mercedes declined any further action.

Al ser llevado a inspección, se me indica que ES necesario el reemplazo DE los focos delanteros completamente.
I was driving when I got a right rear light tail and brake warning not working for the second time. I just replaced the bulbs a month ago July 2014. When I checked to replace them I smell something burnt and upon further close inspection I saw bared brown wire burnt connector (outer edge wire on the connector) and some signs of melting on the light assembly. The brown wire that was bare burnt through the connection that probably caused the shorting.

My lcd navigation screen does not turn on anymore. It randomly flashes when I'm driving and causes a distraction. After some research, it seems like an extremely common issue with many C300 models of the 2008 year. Some owners have reported smoke coming out of the corner of the screen.

I was driving the vehicle and a message light came on saying check rear right brake lamp, turn lamp ,and tail lamp so I stopped by the auto part store to have them replace the bulbs and they found the light holder and the wiring harness to the lights had melted.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 mercedes-benz C300. All of a sudden I recieced an error message in my display stating check all rear right exterior lights. Nature right side is out. My mechanic looked at said the brown wire is frayed and melted the plastic bulb holder. I researched and found it is a chronic problem.
Received message rear license light out. Replaced bulb but continued getting message. Rear parking camera started displaying images when brake depressed. Messages continued to check all rear light bulbs. When inspecting, I noticed burn marks on bulb carrier (part #211-545-03-28) and plug (part #204-820-09-77). I purchased new parts to install but had difficulty removing the wire clips from the plug. I was not aware and the mercedes parts department did not mention I would need to also get connector pins (or that this overheating was a recurring problem). Unable to easily remove wiring & pins, I decided to search internet for guidance on replacement (before cutting wires) and discovered several websites reciting others having similar problems with overheating of the ground wire connection and that a recall investigation had been started. It certainly appears that this problem of overheating/melting of parts is a real fire hazard that is occurring frequently enough to at least require that a notice be sent to car owners to have carriages & wiring promptly inspected and repaired.
Rear lighting does not always work, I have gotten error codes one day and the lights work the next. I have read plenty of complaints on the lighting issue. One time its a bulb on the right and next its a bulb on the left. Today they all work. .
