Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mercedes Benz C300 based on all problems reported for the C300.
There is a short rubber fuel line/hose in the engine compartment that is attached with compression clamps; the hose connects the fuel line from the gas tank to the high pressure fuel pump. When it gets cold outside (below ~40 degrees fahrenheit) the clamps loosen a bit and the hose will leak gas the entire interior smells like gasoline, really bad.

I have a 2017 c 300 and it smells like gas when I turn my heat/ac on. I contacted mercedes to see if there was a recall as this is a huge issue with many customers but mercedes offered no assistance. The smell of gas is very dangerous and I think it's unfair to the customers that mercedes has known about this problem but chose to do nothing.
1. A faint smell of fuel, occasionally, external of vehicle. 2. The headlights has a water fog mist inside of headlight lens. 3. The seats and car interior cracks easily. (seats, arm rest and dashboard) etc.

When depressing the throttle, occasionally there is no response form the engine or a significant delay coupled with erratic engine revving behavior. When this happens the car has no drive power, but power brakes and steering are unaffected. The engine sits at idle speed. This has happened on multiple occasions when in or crossing traffic. The issue may present and then disappear after 15-45 seconds with no other action being taken.

There is a gas smell pervasive in the driving compartment of the car. My mechanic identified a recall campaign for almost every other 2016 c 300 class vehicle. For some reason, my “platform quote number is not listed, but the problem is exactly the same as described in campaign description number. 21p2197456 released on December 17, 2021.

On 8/3/2023 we could smell a strong gasoline smell inside and outside our 2011 mercedes C300. We towed the car to a mercedes specialty repair shop for inspection. The found that the passenger side fuel pump cover (which is a large cylinder assembly actually) was leaking due to cracked plastic. Gas vapors could be detected outside the car, in the trunk, and in the car as the gas tank is right under the back seat. Our mechanic said he had just fixed another mercedes with the exact same problem. Apparently this is a well known defect and I understand that mercedes has an extended warranty for later models. We believe the extended warranty should be extended to our 2011 C300 which has only 55,000 miles.

My 2015 Mercedes Benz vehicle is rarely driven as I took public transportation to work and has ~55000 miles. However, the engine has started throwing error code p052e verified by an independent dealer - crankcase ventilation valve failure. It means the engine could shut off amid driving and I did research and it seems like a very common issue that Mercedes Benz car owner encounter and feels like a severe car defect.
My engine light comes on intermittently for days or weeks at a time. Code is p052e indicating an issue with the pcv valve. I'm waiting to replace the part.
It is such a common issue reported by many 2016 C300 owner who experienced error code p052e bad pve valve. My car only has 40,000 miles. I think the manufacture should be responsible for a recall. Https://mbworld. Org/forums/c-class-w205/796292-2016-c300-p052e-positive-crankcase-ventilation-regulatory-valve. Html.
My Mercedes Benz stopped working. The mechanic shared it involves the: fault valve for crankcase ventilation has malfunction.
Check engine light came on. Had a diagnostic check and was told that the crankcase ventilation sensor needs to be replaced which will cost $1200.

Just got my car from the mechanic on 7/21/23 and it through an error code as I drove home. Towed back snd mechanic stated I need to replace the crank case vent valve assembly. Further stated that they keep in stock because it happens often. Error code p2188.
I got a check engine lite and the code said positive crankcase ventilation regulator valve. While doing research I am finding out that this is a very common problem on these cars, and very expensive to fix, I’ve never even heard of this problem happening to other cars. I think a recall is in order, thank you.
There is a crack in the flange causing a fuel leak in my C300 2011 mercedes-benz built March 2011. A strong gas smell fills the car. This situation is extremely dangerous and should be included in the recall that was approved for vehicles C300 manufactured from April 2011-July 2011. Please include my vehicle in this recall. There is only a one month difference.
I was just driving normally boom engine light comes on take it to the dealership and it come up as crank case vent line which they quoted me 2300$. I think this should be recalled I have seen so many people with the same issue I have actually had someone tell me this was the only major problems with the w205 C300 before this happened. I think it should be recalled because from what I’ve seen it happens to every single C300 just at different mileages. Hopefully this will get a recall because it seems to be a very common issue and should be covered by the dealer.
Code po52e.
Engine misfire, rough idle, shake when come to red light stop, burnt smell inside cabin, loss of power.
Dealer notes, fuel tank, and hold down straps are rusted and rotted.

Each time I filled my gas tank, there was an overpowering odor of gasoline inside the car and outside on the passenger side. Once the tank would get down below 3/4 of a tank, the odor would dissipate until down to a 1/4 of a tank it would go away completely.
Fuel smell in cab of car. Strong smell. Took it to dealer and they said they were damp with fuel.
My C300 2018 only has 50k and suddenly the engine light is on, when I check it shows that I need the positive crankcase ventilation valve replaced. It cost $2300. As I know a lot of people who own mercedes have the same problem. Three mechanics claim it on almost all c, cla, and gla models. Please make mercedes recall it finally.
My check engine light came on approximately one month ago. Once tested it indicated a fuel vapor leak. I pulled out of a driveway and a large stream of fuel spilled all over the roadway. Approximately 7 feet in length about 5 inches in width was on the road. I took it to a mercedes repair shop and they informed me I had a fuel leak and that it was not safe to drive. There was corrosion and rust forming on the tank which seems very odd since the car is garage kept and we don't get much snow in kentucky. My daughter rides in this car with me and they told me it is very dangerous and needs repaired. If I was to drive over a cigarette we could essentially blow up. I had a second shop look at it and they also informed me I had a fuel leak and would need to replace the fuel tank. I was told there was a recall on some models of mercedes for this issue but can't seem to find one on my year make and model. Please help with this matter so my daughter and I can remain safe as well as others around us. Seems like we are in a ticking time bomb.
This auto has approximately 45,000 miles on it and was found to have a fuel leakage issue on a high pressure pump and a fuel hose. Gas smell was very bad and upon inspection, gas was leaking at the hose / pump connection directly onto the engine. I had the defect repaired for a total of $1288. 57 and tried to submit the claim to mercedes. I found out that this issue has been a problem for mercedes and they have published an extended warranty rather than issue a recall. Mercedes has now declined the complaint and because this seems to be a major issue I wanted to press this with your agency. Please let me know if you would like any additional documentation regarding this matter. Thank you - [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. Check engine light p052e, pvc valve. Dealer wants $2,500 for this repair and people are complaining that around 30k-50k it does it. Thats ridiculous. My dealer said its a common issue but mercedes is not issuing a recall.
This particular model of vehicle has a well-known and documented failure of the pcv valve (crankcase). This has not been identified by NHTSA to date. This should be considered for a recall due to the high incident rate of the p052e error code (valve failure) as this causes reduced emission control and possible explosions within the engine due to pressure-related issues. My vehicle did not have any warnings prior to the engine light illuminating. After diagnostics, p052e was identified. Dealership told me that it needed to be replaced as it would fail and result in damage.
Vent valve failed and needs repair. I could smell gasoline from my car weeks up to the check engine light going off. These leaking fumes are a hazard to the population and environment. This problem is quite common on mercedes forums such as mbworld. This car was diagnosed at an official Mercedes Benz dealership (new london, CT). The check engine light came on weeks after symptoms started to appear (on and off).
The code I received is p052e from the check engine light. This can cause the car to stall out mid way through driving and cause a potential fatal accident. This is a common issue across C300 and glc benz.
The valve for crankcase ventilation code p052e71 is not under emission warranty why ? 45k car and is not working and it will not pass emission test.
Mercedes benz via american service center in arlington, va regarding the service they performed on my 2015 C300 w4 4door sedan awd the following issues have presented: issue: 03mbzzwarn1 engine light tech: 901844 problem: engine harness, engine control module, crankcase vent valve, and O2 sensor bank 1 cause: found oil in the engine harness and engine harness. Oil is entering threw [sic] the crank case vent valve. Recommend replacing. Approximate miles at the time of this issue: 63,141. Cost of repair: $8309. 58 yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. Safety concerns: the vehicle is not able to pass an emissions test with the engine light engaged. Per America service center in arlington, va, which is the only service center that has serviced the vehicle during my ownership, they commented and documented that oil is entering through a vent valve. My additional concerns are: if an odorless fume is passing into the passenger cabin and the vehicle can not pass state emissions these are immediate concerns. The service center advices that I may continue to drive the vehicle. However, I am concerned should the oil fully empty without warning the vehicle may fail while in use on a dangerous roadway due to cause and effect of additional unknown maintenance related operational CO-dependent mechanical components.
My car failed smog test due to code p052e positive crankcase ventilation regularly valve. Upon some research, I found that this is very common issue with this car. The repair costs +$2000 before tax at the dealership. Please consider this complain as this issue is very common with this make model and unfortunately many drivers don’t realize that it’s due to faulty system.
2015 C300 crankcase ventilation valve replacement p052e71 need to be replaced, engine light comes on. Only have 37,000 miles many reports of this issue.
Very strong gas smell inside the car when started and heat or air is turned on. I have done research and it is a common issue with this car. This is a very serious issue that can cause an engine fire with the gas leaking in the engine compartment.
I have a mercedes C300 2017 and recently I was driving my car and the check engine light came on all of a sudden so I took it to my local shop to diagnose it they told me it was the pcv valve, so I called mercedes and they’re telling me that this is not covered and of course my warranty is no longer covered I have about 63k miles on the car. Mercedes is saying they don’t have a recall for this but I’ve googled around and multiple people are saying the same issue happened to them around the 55-65k range. It’s super frustrating that this doesn’t flag a recall.
My son's car was blowing white smoke out of the exhaust and had a sweet burning smell and the check engine light came on. The crankcase vent valve is needing to be replaced on this 2015 C300 Mercedes Benz and many owners of this same type of car (different year) are posting about it. Owners of these types of cars are saying that replacement is happening more than once! that it's a common defect of these cars. My son has less than 100,000 miles (61,000 if that) and this shouldn't be happening. And, it's time someone does something to protect the consumer. Mercedes-benz dealers are taking advantage of consumers and charging ridiculous prices to replace this part, but the part shouldn't be breaking. It's a safety factor in that it can affect driving, there's risk of blowing valves/valve cap and engines, including loss of the vehicle and nowadays no one can afford to buy a new car or even a used one! consumers buy what they think is a reliable vehicle but mercedes isn't taking care of their customers. Mercedes-benz should be forced to do a recall and replace these faulty parts. . Read more...
