4 Carrier/rack problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 11/08/2019

Panoromic roof. Roof makes creaking noise when turning or driving on uneven or rough road. Noise seems to be coming from the reinforcement plate between panoromic roof joint. This is very noticiable, lubing the sunroof track or positon of sunroof(close or open) does not reduce noise or issue.

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

I was driving on route 40 (speed limit 55mph, but 45 mph due to construction) when I began hearing rattling in my rear passenger side speaker, then crackling, a burning smell and then smoke filled my vehicle. I believed my vehicle was on fire. Had I not remained calm, I could have caused an accident. I ended up driving to a nearby walmart parking lot where I left my vehicle until it was towed to the dealership for a diagnostic. The tow truck driver also confirmed smelling the burning upon starting my vehicle to pull it onto the tow truck. This happened although no audio was being used in the vehicle. I googled the issue and located similar stories on mbworld. Org forum dating back to 2016. The issue is melting harmon kardon speakers in the 2014 E350 model. Speakers do not melt as a part of normal wear and tear, but because of poor wiring, adhesive and/or craftsmanship. My service advisor called me today and confirmed my suspicions that the rear passenger speaker had in fact melted and my front driver side speaker is also in the process of suffering the same fate. Both need replacing. Because my vehicle has been out of warranty for just over a year, there are no recalls for this issue and it is not a "known issue" I am expected to pay out of pocket for 2 malfunctioning/ melting speakers caused by the manufacturer. This is a safety issue, could have caused both an electrical fire in my vehicle (near my gas tank) and me to have gotten in an accident. Please issue a recall before someone is seriously hurt.

6 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Since we have had this vehicle (2017) we had come to hear a loud cracking of the pano roof when turning (say from a gas station or side shop) and over the years it has become louder and louder until it is constant. It is such that we hear it all the time in warm/hot weather (like now, at the time of reporting); discussions and research has told us it is a serious problem in that the roof could give way (albeit, explode?). Are their any TSB bulletins on this issue? thank you for your consideration of this matter. Best regards, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

This is second report regarding to the tracking number 10745880. As w. W. Simonson mercedes authorized repair shop service advisor yahoum moe called me to present a quote for repair , I visited the shop on August 4, 2015. The ro number 360666 for the quote amount is $8608. 50. Even if the fire damage is very significant, the service advisor did not explain me the cause reason of fire and abnormal disconnection of fuel line, which is located at the driver side and isolated from the engine, for the leakage of gasoline to fire.
