When I try to put the vehicle in park the car is stuck in drive or reverse. If the car is in reverse or if the vehicle is in drive and you use the gear selector to put the vehicle in park or change and gear the vehicle does not change the gear. I bought this vehicle certified preowned from mercedes-benz dealership in July 2019 the vehicle has less than 4000 miles on it since I bought it certified and this issue has occurred. This is a safety issue which could have injury and or death. The mercedes-benz dealer is stating there was a fault code with the shifter attached to the steering wheel and need to replace the entire module due to an electrical fault. The dealership is refusing to honor disrepair under a safety maintenance from the manufacture. I have escalated this matter to mercedes-benz executive relations. This issue has been ongoing for the past several months since last year.

My vehicle is a 2011 E350 mercedes all a & b service from the same dealership parkplace mercedes. We are currently in a pandemic so I start my vehicle and drive it around once or twice a week. I stays in a sheltered parking garage area and last week I started my car drove up to my building ran in to get some gloves because I was going to store and when I returned to my vehicle it would not start. Parkplace mercedes service called back and stated they had to order the part and it would be here in 1-2 days and cost would be $1691 for new esl part & labor. I asked the service asst manager how much was the part and he told me $447. I called the parts department to see how much the part was and I was told $544 and only mercedes could do the job and parts are in stock. A bit confused I called and spoke with the parkplace manager off lemmon Ave in dallas and I was told he was unsure if program key could be actioned by a after market dealer but would check and let me know. The asst manager called back and I advised of my confusion and he advised he would seek answers and call me back. I received a call back from the asst manager and was advised the 2 that was in stock was for 2 other vehicles that was having the same issue. My question is how is it legal for mercedes to advise they can only do the work on a vehicle I own? and addition if I were to get an after market shop to do the work and they have the equipment to reprogram the key, why can I not go to another shop? is this information available in the manual in mercedes service books? this should be a easy recall because the technicians are not troubleshooting to see if the motor that is inside the esl can be replaced. I know it's a pandemic and revenue is at an all time low but lying to customers is not the correct approach. I sent an email and requested troubleshooting of esl of my vehicle. It could be a quick fix.

My steering wheel will not telescope up/down. I have had this repaired 2x's in the past 3 years. 5/2017, 6/2018, 8/2019, 12/2020 additionally, the blind spot assist notification goes off when there's not a car around me. Typically happens when I'm driving and go down a slight decline in the road.

While driving the vehicle at 40mph on a city street, all warning lights suddenly came on and the motor stalled. The vehicle lost all steering, braking and speed control. The vehicle had to be removed from the road by a tow truck. It was a dangerous situation as the vehicle lost all controls while in motion. The vehicle was locked in park and dash warning of "pre-safe conditions, do not shift. ".
The collar around the bottom of the steering wheel has melted. Happened while car parked in my driveway. I don't know how! no accident involved! dealer can't explain what happened or why! how safe is my vehicle? never heard of such! the bottom of the steering wheel is exposed! the cost to repair is on me! what is going on. This is not a wear or tear situation! how safe am I? maybe heat inside the car caused it! don't know! more photos available.

Power steering malfunction.
'steering wheel malfunction' display while driving. The steering wheel couldn't be turned. I could either go straight or reverse, but could not turn the steering wheel. I was driving out of my neighborhood, all of the sudden, the display popped up, before I was going down the curvy hill. This is dangerous that it can just happen while you drive. It can take someone's life if drive out on the freeway at a high speed and the steering wheel cannot be turned. It is also dangerous for me to stop in the middle of the street in my neighborhood because I couldn't turn left or right to even park the car safely. I was lucky that the display popped up and the steering wheel malfunction occurred before I drive down the curvy hill to get on the freeway. Had this happened when I got on the curvy hill or the freeway, a potential death accident could have occurred.

Power steering malfunction (cannot turn but the power was still on. The screen in front of driver's seat also showed the message. ) suddenly happened in a second when I drove in a low speed (around 25-30). I was very very lucky enough to slide my car slowly by the curb since the traffic was not heavy. I got my car towed to the dealer which I just finished my yearly maintenance 10 days ago. They found my car's computer had a bug. They re-programmed my car's computer in the next day. The problem has solved so far. This had happened about 2 weeks ago. I googled to find this problem seems happened a few times before but no recall. I did the maintenance with the dealer every year. Due to the defect and dealer's negligence, my life had seriously threatened by this critical situation. I would urge you to investigate the severity for this case to avoid other accidents happening.
The contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz E350. While driving approximately 42 mph, the blind stop detection monitoring system and other unknown warning indicators malfunctioned. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving the onboard computer failed resulting in all the warning lights going on and disabling the power steering. My mechanic determined that it was due to the blind spot sensors which are located in the rear bumper going bad because of salt corrosion. Wrote to mercedes but have not received even a response. See the attached letter in the documentation section.
Park car at house, when I went to use it next day, ignition wont turn and the steering is lock can not unlock, no matter what I do.
I have a 2012 Mercedes Benz e 350 that I purchased in buffalo, NY. My vehicle has about 75,000 miles on it. My vehicle is registered in michigan and a USA vehicle. I am currently working on an assignment in canada. On March 5, 2019, I went to drive the vehicle from my hotel parking lot in ottawa, canada on a trip to buffalo, NY when I heard the vehicle making loud noises towards the front end and the ability to steer was lost. The vehicle would not turn and was essentially immobilized. I left it as is and had it towed to star motors mercedes, 400 w hunt club rd, nepean, on k2e 1b2, canada. From the mechanics -the vehicle's electronic steering box bolts broke from exposure to salt just as stated in this article where Mercedes Benz in fact recalled 21,500 of these vehicles in canada, but not in the USA? https://canada. Autonews. Com/automakers/mercedes-benz-canada-recalls-21500-vehicles-where-road-salt-used my E350 has been exclusively driven in buffalo, detroit, toronto and ottawa, canada, all areas where salt is utilized in huge quantities. The price to service and correct this issue where mercedes clearly admits there are issues with those bolts is $4300 canadian. I am glad that this did not happen on the highway as it could have been fatal. I am writing to the NHTSA to request that this recall be valid for all areas where salt is utilized in the us as this mechanical failure could cause vehicle accidents resulting in death or bodily injury if not rectified. I hope NHTSA understands this issue is not just in eastern canada as buffalo and detroit uses more salt on the roads that most cities in canada. The mercedes dealerships that I spoke too, all know about this problem so much so the parts are on back order. I appreciate your help in getting Mercedes Benz to extend their recall into the USA.
Takata passenger air bag has still not been replaced, nor has a time frame been established. Driver air bag system was modified and now the steering wheel no longer goes up & down.
Suspension issues, I just placed 4 new tires on my car in June of 2018. On Dec 28, 2019 my car felt as if someone was unscrewing all of my wheels off and I spent out losing control of the vehicle. I am unable to get mercedes-benz USA to share ground clearance specification for my vehicle. My car has 100. 000 miles. Mbusa directed me to the local dealer but the dealer couldn't find the spec. I was told I would receive a call back and never did. I googled info regarding my issues and saw this site and was like wow.

I was told my battery did not pass medtronics testing during scheduled maintenance service but I chose not to replace battery at that time, exactly 1 week later my car does not start while out running errands. I try to jump start vehicle and still unable to start it. . . I have it towed to the dealership it was at 1 week prior. They replace battery at $425 then tell me that my car still won't start. They run other diagnostic tests and tell me that my key is not recognizing the steering wheel; that the steering wheel lock module needs to be replaced at a cost of $1409. The vehicle has been in the dealer six times in a four month period of time. Most problems were related to electronics. Head unit center console made a loud "a ball rolling around" noise with 24 hours of buying the car. Radio would intermittently work. Clock would not keep time. These three items have been replaced. Steering wheel would not keep memory. Engine cooling fan would run for hours after vehicle was turned off and parked. There was an oil leak on front passenger side. Front trim panel for bumper was not aligned.
While driving and changing gears from first to second, at or around 10 - 20 rpm my engine became uncontrollable and jerked sporadically. I could not control the vehicle until it changed into 3rd gear and then began to drive as normal. The car does this repeatedly now until I feel it has become unsafe to drive. The jerking is random so I don't know when to expect it and what to do when it happens. It has caused me to veer off the road occasionally.

My claim # is10691110 the lane control does not function consistantly. Sometimes when you cross a line, the rear brake on the opposite side of the car automatically applies bringing the car back to the center of the lane, other times it doesn't. I demonstrated this to the maintenance mgr. With no satisfaction. I've discussed with a case mgr on several times, with no satisfaction. I've written the pres of mercedes on two occassions, who referred my concern back to the same case mgr. Who says it is functioning as designed,in spite of the fact I demonstrated to the dealer maint. Supervisor that it doesn't. I asked for a regional person to ride with me so I could demonstrate the inconsistancy of the way it functions. I was denied my request. Nhtsa seems to be my only hope for getting my safety concern resolved for me and any others who may have the same problem. The problem was demonstrated on state rt. 33 in dublin OH. With painted road lines that were consistint. I have many notes of additional detail if wanted.
Engine stalls while driving. The car loses power brakes and power steering. No check engine alert comes on and the lights remain on. The car starts again once I pulled over and started the ignition again. This has happened about 6 times in 18 months and is very dangerous. The last time I was coasting downhill around 40 miles an hour and, when the engine stalled, the check tire pressure on all 4 tires came on. When I restarted the car the check tire pressure lights did not appear.
The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes Benz E350. While driving at approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel was very difficult to turn. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the power steering assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a loud banging noise coming from the subframe. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.
I attempted to start the car and it would not crank. I called mercedes service and they sent service to jumpstart the car. The car finally started. As I began to drive, a warning light stating "power steering malfunction - check owners manual" came on. With considerable difficult, I avoided the curb in the parking lot and managed to get the car to a parking space. The "power steering malfunction" indicator would not come off even after turning the car off and on again. The car became undrivable.
The car accelerated on it's own in a parking lot leading to a crash. The car went inside a building. My foot was on the brakes all the time, but car did not stop. Air bags did not open.
