1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/28/2024

The engine in these cars are defective and can cause serious harm due to a part that was put inside the motor made of plastic. There was a lawsuit but if you didn’t get in on it you losses out for not knowing. I was recently at mercedes dealership to fix recalls and they brushed me off. The car can catch fire and I’m already experiencing engine failure after only owning the car for a year. They don’t care because it’s an old car but it’s still being sold to unsuspecting buyers. I’m not the only one there are thousands of us who are at risk driving these cars because mercedes won’t admit their off the showroom floor mistake.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 12/13/2023

While driving at approximately 55mph on the highway, I was required to brake for a merging vehicle who decided to make a lane change at the last second. I used my breaks, and my car did not break correctly. Instead, the car pulled the the right and locked up, it felt as though I had lost control of the car. When I went to my mechanic, I thought it was a break issue. Instead, it turns out the whole rear sub frame had rusted. When researching this issue, I found many other similar experiences. The harm that this part failure lead to was extreme. This could have been deadly. This is a safety issue that the manufacturer does not address.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/13/2023

I was driving my husband's 2016 E350 at 45 mph when the car accelerated. I attempted to control the speed by braking but the brake did not respond well. The steering wheel was also loose. The car sped up and turned left to the opposite side of the road, crossed the two lanes and hit the fence followed by a tree. The car was totaled, and the tree broke down at its branches. I survived the crush with two fractures on my back and on my left thumb.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/27/2022

I was driving on north shepherd drive in houston, TX, at a speed of approximately 35 mph. While I was lightly braking to slow down for an upcoming intersection where I wished to turn, the car flashed 2 error lights--frontal collision avoidance system inoperable, and traction control system inoperable. At that moment, the car began to accelerate out of my control. It began to accelerate at a pace comparable to a full-throttle acceleration. At that moment, I turned off the vehicle and coasted to the side of the road. After a moment, I turned the car back on, electrical components responded as normal. However, there was a fluttering movement on the rpm levels on the tachymeter--even at idle levels.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/19/2022

Intermittently, while driving several of the electrical systems will fail including the lane keep assist and abs. When this happens, it also causes the instrument cluster to rapidly change speeds, making the vehicle unsafe to operate as the driver is unable to tell what speed they are going, which can become extremely hazardous since this happens at random. The issue has been diagnosed to be a faulty radar sensor in the rear bumper, however the specific part has been on backorder since February 2022 and mercedes-benz has shown no signs of urgency with resolving this issue. I have a video of the ongoing hazard that I can submit as well, it's just too large to attach to this form.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

At around 2. 15 pm cst, I was driving my mercedes westbound on I-694 towards minneapolis at roughly 70 mph when suddenly my e300 stalled and by the time I could figure what was wrong, I lost all power in the steering wheel. The mercedes brake assist triggered a hard brake and my car stopped in the middle lane on the freeway. The car behind me nearly missed me and at this point every light in the dashboard lit up (I have attached the picture below). I tried hitting on the ignition multiple times but got no response. At this point, I decided not to sit in the car since it was too dangerous with fast oncoming traffic and it was only going to be a matter of time that someone would rear end me. I stepped out of my car and while multiple cars were approaching me at high speed from both left and right lanes I found a very small window of time (2-3 seconds) to sprint from the middle lane of I-694 to the shoulder. My worry was still far from over as my car was still sitting in middle of the interstate and now I was concerned about the safety of other folks who were traveling in my direction. I saw 12 to 15 cars almost rear end my car. While this was happening, I realized my phone was dead and I was unable to call 911. I continually waved at the oncoming traffic to alert them of my car and requested them to call 911. About 7 to 9 minutes later, the state highway patrol showed up and blocked traffic to assist me with moving my car to the shoulder. These 7 to 9 minutes were the most traumatic I have ever seen in my life. I felt helpless, anxious, and extremely stressed out.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/07/2016

For a couple of months when I put my 2014 E350 sport in park it would jerk forward. Never really thought about it being a problem. I was driving my car into my neighbors driveway and went to turn around and just as I went to put the car in reverse, the car propeled forward directly into her tree. If the tree had not been there my car would have went into the front of her house. I am thankful that I am just shaken up and a little sore. I am also thankful that I was the only one in the car during this freak event and that if happened where it did because the 2 other times that I was in my car that day is was in heavy traffic and I would have done major damage to myself and possibly someone else. At first I believe my shoe got caught on the accelerator, but there is no possible way this could be the issue as I was appying it to the brake when the car propelled forward. For as hard as I hit the tree the airbag did not deploy. I was able to drive my car back home with all the coolant leaking from it.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/05/2016

My wife was traveling at 65 miles per hour in the high occupancy vehicle lane of the long island expressway when the car suddenly decelerated and a warning light came on the dashboard. The vehicle would not allow her to accelerate any longer and she became disabled instantly causing an extremely dangerous situation for her. Obviously she had to attempt to get off the highway, or at least onto the shoulder. However she had to cross four lanes of traffic while going twenty miler per hour.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/18/2016

The gear shift keep getting stuck. The car revs and doesn't change gear when driving it stays in the first gear. Then when it does changes the gear skips, causing a jolt in the car. Brought it to the shop and was told that it's a default sensor that's not picking up, causing it to skip. Two separate shops and they told me to make this complaint. I've called the number on this site months ago, made a complaint and still nothing. I've seen quite a bit of complaint on this matter on this site, yet no change. This can be very dangerous because the car stalls which endanger the operator of the vehicle, passengers, and other motorist on the road. This can cause an accident. I'll use today's date because I don't remember the specific date I called before. Very dangerous.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

While driving on the highway, I attempted a heavy acceleration to get the car up to traffic speed. Two times in the past 60 days, the car seriously malfunctioned with multiple dashboard indicator lights and the main text "pre safe functions limited" accompanied by a total loss of speed control. The accelerator became 100% unresponsive and I had to coast to an emergency lane. There was significant danger in both instances as I had to cross multiple lanes of traffic with no power to get to safety. The weather was clear and the external sensors were not obstructed by dirt or snow- which has previously caused the pre-safe functions limited message. I believe that the multiple errors indicated on the dashboard are all erroneous to the core issue of a sudden and total loss of power upon heavy acceleration. The resolution was to shift the car into park, push the ignition button as if turning the vehicle off, wait and restart. The car operates normally upon restart. Note that the engine appeared to already be off prior to shifting into park. It is as if the heavy acceleration killed the engine. This issue has potential fatal consequences if the driver is unable to get the car out of the lane of high speed traffic-- as I was in. A less experienced or panicked driver could easily fail to handle the situation and get rear ended at high speed as the car can only be reset by getting it into park and restarted. Similar blog posts online report the same with other mercedes vehicles. I have had the car for four months and it has happened twice. Seems like a software/electronic issue causing the mechanical issue to me. Very dangerous.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

When accelerating hard, the car looses all power and goes into limp mode. This is a extremely dangerous position to be in. If you're on the highway with a cement wall right next to you and everyone is going well over 80 and you loose all power, you're a sitting duck. There is no way to make it across 4-6 lanes to pull over, turn off the car and wait 20 seconds to reset and start again. I have seen many complaints on forums and mercedes is denying the issue. It's a well known issue and needs to be recalled and fixed. This issue has been going on for 4 years now and no help from mercedes. This has happened numerous times with the first time happening in 2015.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

On the way to work, the check engine light went on. After a few miles, at an intersection, my car jerked and I didn't have enough time to make the signal light. I decided to go back. After I shifted to reverse, the car didn't move back and stopped there totally. I had to turn off the engine and restarted, the car worked. I took the car to the dealer right away, it needs "entire valve body/conductor plate assy-replace and retest" and total cost is $2000.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

I backed the car out of the garage at my condominium building in sarasota and placed the car in park to remove something from the windshield (I believed the car was in park -- but it could have failed to engage it or I possibly nicked it on my way out of the car). I started to move out of the car, while my right foot was on the brake -- about 90% of my body weight was out of the car and then I took my right foot off the brake. The car started to move backwards and I was sandwiched between the left front door of the car and the car itself -- I dove to the ground to avoid being hit by the door, injuring my left side -- and then I rolled on to my back to avoid the door and then saw the left front wheel heading for both legs -- I tucked and dragged my body away -- the car passed by, missing my two legs by only an inch or two. The car crashed in to the fence of my condominium building. After talking with Mercedes Benz USA, I learned that the car did not have an automatic park feature -- but if I had purchased a keyless go feature, the electronic transmission would have had a feature that would have caused the transmission to go in to park as soon as the standing vehicle door was cracked. No one at my dealer and no one at mbusa service knew that this feature was available -- and then only if the buyer had purchased keyless go. This feature should be on all electronic transmissions from mb -- at a minimum, dealers and prospective customers should have been made aware of this missing safety item and its availability as an extra. Mbusa has told me that this feature cannot be added to my car -- it is only available at the plant of manufacture.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

This car auto accelerated while I was parking in the middle of a residential street on Sep 14, 2013. My car ended up hitting another parked car in front of me. My car damage is around $13,000. It is the 2nd time when it has auto accelerated within the past 6 months. The 1st. Time when it happened I was on the road & it moved few feet by itself when I stopped at a signal. I was able to control it by hitting the breaks with lots of force. That time, I thought it may be my imagination or earthquake, but this time, 2nd time, the engine made a racing sound & it just went out of control & hit the other parked car in front of me despite of me hitting the brakes. Apparently the car brakes couldn't do anything either & the end result was I hit the other parked SUV in front of me.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/12/2012

I was driving on the highway and could hear that the engine didn't sound right, it was revving at a higher rpm than normal. I pulled over to see what was wrong and it continued to do this every time I tried to accelerate. I turned the car off, turned it back on and then only had 3rd. Gear available. Nothing else. I later found out that it's called "limp mode" it wouldn't go faster than 40mph and nothing else worked, just 3rd. Gear and reverse. After doing extensive research I learned this is a problem with most 7-speeds and the amount of people having or had this issue is appalling. Apparently mercedes knew of this matter all along and did nothing. My car is currently at the dealership now and I have to pay $1,600 to have the conductor plate and valve body fixed. I'm a single mom, self employed, but still a single mom. This isn't right and mercedes should bend over backwards to remedy this. ".

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 12/11/2011

I was pulling into a parking spot at my health club. As I was about to stop, my vehicle suddenly and violently accelerated going into the curb, up a dirt berm and over some very large boulders. I never made it over the berm because the car got lodged onto of a large rock. When it was over, it took a couple of seconds, I know that my foot was pushing hard on my brake. However, I doubt that would have stopped the car. I will report this to Mercedes Benz, have it checked, but I am not optimistic they will find anything wrong.
