After starting the car, two messages appeared on the dash board. Center gauge read: srs restraint system malfunction service required fuel gauge read: srs (in red) took the car to our certified mechanic. After his diagnostic check- he said it was the air bag module is out. Needs to be replaced at mercedes dealership.

I purchased a used mercedes-benz from freehold Mitsubishi in early 2024. Within hours, serious safety issues appeared, including a check engine light, cylinder misfire, evap leak, traction control failure, and blind spot assist malfunction. The vehicle’s ecm and wiring harness were later found damaged due to oil leaks and electrical shorts. Despite multiple repair attempts, the vehicle was returned in worse condition and remains unsafe to drive. I am reporting these issues due to their potential risk to vehicle safety.

These models were recalled on March 9, 2009 NHTSA campaign 09v076000. My VIN number apparently did not fall within the selected VIN numbers. However my auto even though it is the same year as the recall has this same exact defect and condition and is deemed to be a fire hazard. What are my options.

I believe the electrical system may be defective as ever since I have had it the light bulbs frequently have to be changed. We own three vehicles in my households (the other 2 are non-mercedes) and none of my other vehicles do this. The latest issue with the electrical system is that the rear tail lamp and power lift gate. I was told there was water that was getting in from somewhere but mechanic could not find where. I need a new sam module and that is why my power lift gate motor does not work. As I did some research online, the same exact problem was recalled on a the same model but the 2009 model and I have the 2011 model. I believe my car should be part of the same recall which I believe is mercedes recall number 2009030003. That appears to be a faulty seal around the rear tail lamp assembly. I believe this is a manufacturer's defect that should be covered and would likely explain why I have had to change out light bulbs so many times over the years.

My name is [xxx] my vehicle cut off on me 3 times twice while stationary and once at an intersection. Found oil in engine control module due to failed cam position sensors. Oil has traveled through the engine harness to ecm causing oil to get into module and cause it to shut down but it did start back up. This is very dangerous and could cause serious injury to someone. The contact owns a 2009 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph in heavy rain, she observed smoke emanating from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that there may have been unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and turned off. The contact stated that when the vehicle was restarted, multiple unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the key pad stopped working, and multiple electrical components stopped working, and that she experienced sinus issues thereafter. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the sam module got wet and there was an electrical fire because the wires were not covered and the sam module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was not diagnosed, but the sam module was replaced. The failure persisted. The vehicle was then towed to another independent mechanic, where it has yet to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

I bought a 2007 mercedes-benz Ml350 4matic in late 2023 from auction with a salvage title and I can't take it to inspection center to get plates, because a lot of things such as signal lights, seats power, key fob, radio, wipers, and rear gate to work because the rear sam module is damage by rain water, which I found on youtube that at least 3 models from 2006 to 2012 (including my model) suffering from same problem and yet mercedes company didn't forced to considered as a recall so we can fixed for free since it is not our fault.

Started to have an issue with the blind spot assist showing inoperable. Shortly after depending on the outside temperature the ac would start shutting off and on. The days the temperature was above 95 degrees the ac would suddenly stop working. Took the vehicle to the dealer for ac service. Dealer reports the engine "back" wiring harness had been rubbing, exposing and chaffing the harness wires, and for safety concerns a complete harness replacement is necessary. When asked how was this possible since the harness clearance is a manufacture design. Was told it happens on these vehicles and currently there is no recall.

Ml350 engine stalled while driving on an expressway and would not turn back on. Ml350 needed to be towed where it was determined that water accumulated in the spare tire wheel well, leading to the fuel pump short circuiting. This is directly related to NHTSA campaign 22v955000. That recall repair was completed prior to this incident. Per the technician, the recall repair installed a water drain plug to prevent the water accumulation. This repair effectively failed - the drain plugs malfunctioned and were not allowing water to drain. Mbusa deny’s responsibility for the failing drain plug - stating that the trunk weatherstripping is the root cause, not the failing drain plug. This is an unacceptable response and worth of the recall being expanded. The fuel pump control unit can still short out if mbusa’s poor excuse of a recall fix fails as it did with mine.

I purchased my car used at the mercedes dealership in tyler texas June 2023. I took all my savings and paid cash and was told that the car was impeccable shape and there were no current issues and all the service records were up to date. November 2023 is when everything started happening and my engine light came on. It was revealed to me by a service tech that I was sold the vehicle with an existing major oil leak /seals broke. Etc. See attached invoices. I have endured driving down the road and my car just giving out and losing power steering. The car has been sputtering and there have been misfires, fauled fuel injectors, coils, s and spark plugs, oil leaks, fuel pump leaking gasoline in the engine and smoke coming from the hood. I thought my car was going to start on fire it smelled like a hot electrical wires and gasoline. My nerves are frayed from this car because of how many times it has broke down. I have missed work because of the car, I'm behind on my home bills, I missed my airline flight to see my sick father, I have had to pay for rental cars, all due to this vehicle. I am very concerned for my safety in this vehicle and I would like the vehicle fixed at the expense of mercedes or my money back. Thank you, debra nolting.

I encountered a major issue with the mercedes Ml350, while doing a 3 point turn in a busy suburban toronto street. The electronic shift module left me stuck in road way. Causing traffic back up and could not move vehicle. Neither forward or reverse. Tried pushing and different tactics to move vehicle off road. Had to call caa-aaa. It was a caos situation,first tow truck could not load vehicle,all wheels were locked in drive and would not shift. Had to wait for special tow have all four wheels lifted off onto dolly. Tow truck driver said it is a common problem. With mb,BMW and Audi. Vehicles towed to dealer sat at dealer. Parts on back order and not available for repair. Since was in toronto away from home. Had to source original equipment supplier to purchase part. Dealer and factory mercedes could not source part. Back ordered. The dealer agreed to install the factory oem part they could not source. My concern to all owners including myself in line traffic a basic traffic maneuver stuck in blocking traffic. Cannot moving vehicle jammed in gear that controlled by a shift module. No safe limp mode or emergency shift to neutral to move vehicle safely.

Turn signals stop working after driving a mile or so. If possible, I turn the car off and on. Turn signals work but fail again within a few miles. Hazard light work even when the turn signals fail. I’ve read this is a common issue searching the internet. Definitely a safety concern.

Blind spot assists and turn signals go out without warning. This model should have been included in the previous recall for timing. Having the same issues as other recalled cars.

Driver side low beam headlight turns off and on randomly whether the vehicle is off or on. I lose view of the road because lights turn off randomly and others cannot see me at night as well. I've tried taking my vehicle to the shop, but no one can trace down this problem. No warning was shown until recently.

I am writing in regards to my 2014 ml 350 SUV. The check engine light came on and upon taking it to the mercedes dealership, I was told the issue is that the camshaft adjusters have failed and need to be replaced. The cost quoted is over $11,000 to repair. Upon further investigation I found reports on multiple lawsuits for the mercedes c series for the same year (2012-2014) that resulted also in a recall whereby customers were given a recall to replace at no charge the camshaft adjusters up to 120k miles. My car only has 83k and I am told by two independent mechanics that the camshaft adjuster should not be failing like this and that this has been an ongoing issue with mercedes. The safety issue is that I am told by independent mechanics that what could happen over time is that I could be driving and the entire engine/power just shuts off. This could even happen at high speeds on the highway. The mercedes dealer tells me there is no safety issues that could result from camshaft adjuster problems which doesn't appear to be true as per the other independent mechanics. I request further investigation into this issue because as per the independent mechanics its the "same engine" as the 2012-2014 that are under the recall . I'm requesting a recall on this for my car that mercedes pays for. This should not be failing especially in a car with only 83k on it . If the c series 2012-2014 received recall on this part then I also think my ml 350 should be covered. Mercedes customer service tells me they cannot pay for the repair, they said I could file complaint for recall through NHTSA thank you .

Known defect with timing issues that give code p0016. All cars should be part of this recall regardless of mileage on a known defect. This repair is extremely expensive and wouldn’t be needed if built correctly.

The steering column does not operate properly. The column no longer adjusts positions and more importantly, the turn signals work ad-hoc. When you start the vehicle, the turn signals tend to operate properly; however, after driving for approximately 15 minutes, the turn signals operate sporadically. This is a safety concern as it's impossible to know when the turn signal will operate correctly or not, thus creating a hazard to me and others on the road. It is my understanding from investigating this online that this is a systemic issue with this model and not unique to my vehicle (just google "2012 mercedes Ml350 turn signal problems"). I discussed this with Mercedes Benz USA and they told me that the only way to resolve this issue is to replace the steering column (part #: 166-460-62-00) at the cost of $3,373. 81. I hope that the NHTSA investigates this further as mercedes-benz has decided to ignore this safety issue that may cause harm or death. The contact stated while driving 45-50 mph with his wife in the front passenger seat and his children in the rear seats, his wife smelled a strong burning odor and saw smoke coming from underneath the front passenger seat. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact immediately veered to the side of the road. Both the contact and his family exited the vehicle and ran away from the vehicle. The contact stated that approximately 30 seconds after exiting the vehicle, the vehicle caught on fire and exploded several times, causing a nearby tree to catch on fire. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard where it was awaiting to be totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

After a weekend of incessant rain, while driving a short distance (10 minutes) , this low-mileage, well-maintained 8 year old SUV suddenly stalled, engine appeared to have powered down and the yellow engine light came up and pressing gas pedal didn't do anything. I was fortunately able to press the power button once frantically and re-start it once more and pull over to the side but the car refused to power on thereafter. After investigations by the shops, it appears there was water leaking "through" the body of the vehicle and into the area below the interior of the car, short circuiting fuel driver and stalling the car (which they subsequently repaired after draining the water and replacing/re-programming the fuel pump driver) before handing it off for the leak identification work. The car was subsequently taken to a specialist shop to figure out the leak, and they are unable to identify any reasonable source of the water leak and insurance is so far claiming this is "wear and tear". In the course of the testing, the *same* issue happened again and the car stalled while driven by the shop personnel and they could hear the sound of water inside the cabin all the way up to the front. They are unable to identify the source(s) of the leak and at this point, the car has been unusable for over 4 weeks as insurance continues to push back and the shop can't do the additional work to identify the source in the body without insurance approval. I made attempts to contact the manufacturer but their only available contact is their customer support (no email/chat option) who refused to discuss this as it didn't pertain to them directly and re-directed me to talk to my own insurance company. I even reached out via twitter but got no response. This expensive luxury SUV is not just unreliable at this point but *dangerous* where there are mysterious water leaks under natural conditions like rain leading to car stalling while in motion.

55,000 miles now engine shuts off while driving and steering wheel locks engine light comes on, we have had this problem starting at about 30,000 miles. They first said it was sensors which we replaced several times thousands of dollars later still have problem. It is currently at dealer for a month now and they told us we need a whole engine harness replaced for $11,000 but can't be sure this is the problem. The following has been happening over the last 2 - 3 yrs. Also confirmed with other customers on mb world blog site. After traveling in the car for 5-15 minutes, and sooner if connected to cell phone via bluetooth, the indicators stop working. This leads to deactivation of the blind spot assist as well. The problem is temporarily resolved after switching the vehicle off and then on again, only to recur after driving it again for 10-15minutes, and earlier if attached to iphone via bluetooth. The blind spot assist is then permanently inactivated. 2 mercedes dealerships in 2 separate states where I took the vehicle could not even identify a problem, let alone resolve it. When I called mbusa, they claimed ignorance to the issue and told me to repair or change the vehicle myself. Since this is an issue with multiple vehicles, a recall needs to be issued for this model. It’s unknown how many collisions can be attributed to this since the problem has not been acknowledged by mercedes’. The problem has occurred almost everyday over the last 3 years. I have narrowly missed being involved in collisions because of the inactivation of blind spot assist and changing lanes. I have almost been rear ended a bunch of times because of the indicators getting inactivated. All this has happened with my family traveling me with. Please lets not wait for loss of life before a recall is initiated. Thank you.

The oil fuel line is leaking on the engine this is currently a recall on my year and model SUV.

2013 Mercedes Benz Ml350 (w166) engine (m276) began misfiring. Palm springs Mercedes Benz diagnosed faulty camshaft positioning sensor leaking engine oil into engine electrical harness which wicked through harness to ecu. Faulty (leaking) camshaft positioning sensor caused faulty harness, ecu, injectors, O2 sensors. Said common problem on these and other models and engines.

Front passenger door lock is registering as locked when it is actually insecure which is a safety issue. Thank you. Unknown start date. Recently purchased vehicle. This weekend passenger for the first time and discovered issue.

Since my significant others and I purchased this 2006 Mercedes Benz SUV - ml-350, over three months ago, we were wondering why the "engine check light was always on" so we purchased (4) sensors and replaced the sensors of where obd tests pointed out for the engine, deleted the engine check light several times but it will go back on after we driven it for another 50 to 100 miles away to normal highways and freeways driving to relearn the computer system and the check engine light on again and again but not blinking? we called our friendly mechanics and he said it maybe faults recalled that part of the electronics or maybe the computer is giving that "engine check" light on because it has some safety components is malfunctioning, the braking is also hard and sometimes it is too soft when I push it with my right foot to stop the car and also the car is using too much gas. So, we kept postponement of bringing this car to the dealership for repairs because we cannot afford the repairs. Then today, I check to my email and I see the recall email from NHTSA about mb - ml-350 / recall number 2022050015 / NHTSA # 22v315, since we cannot smog check it because of the "engine check on" it is always on we were puzzled why this light and this car cost too much to use and sometimes hard and sometimes soft to push on it's braking power? please let us know on what to do next? shall we call the mb-dealerships to tow this car to their shop because we have stop using this car about over (3) months ago since we bought it ? braking system is sometimes is too hard and sometimes too soft and using too much gas and the "engine check is always on " even we have replaced the (4) electronic sensors that the obd machine pointed out but is still doing the same thing. Please advise us of what to do to resolve these operational safety of our 2006 - ml-350 Mercedes Benz, it is stored in our car garage. The rear reverse camera also stops working and it is saying braking lights are not functioning?.

Other that other 2014 Ml350 have a recall for oil leaking from the reserve. Seems like my vehicle is affected by this issue as well, oil leak when low.

In addition, the contact noticed that the headlights failed and the gas gauge also failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear signal acquisition module (sam) board was corroded, and the rear sam module needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,284.

Oil leaked thru wiring harness in to ecu and 02 sensors massive damage on car harness.

During a rainstorm Dec 25 2021 brake lights gas gauge windshield wipers and truck all stopped working. Trunk will not open no automatic interior lights.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that while driving the front driver seat caught on fire while the seat heater was on. The contact stated that the back part of the seat was smoking and he stopped the vehicle, exited, and noticed the back of his jacket and seat had a hole. The contact stated that he was not injured. The contact did not see flames. The contact stated that he put his hand on the hole to stop the smoke. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact stated that the failure cause was not diagnosed as he only received an estimate to replace the seat and heating system. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

Instrument cluster malfunction. Battery drained and replaced. 2. 5 weeks later, the new battery drained. After the vehicle was jumpstarted, the instrument cluster remained on with sos inoperable showing on the panel. The instrument cluster will not turn off, even after the vehicle has been turned off. So it continues to drain the battery. Mercedes has diagnosed the vehicle with a bad instrument cluster and says that it needs to be replaced. There were no warning signs before the malfunction. I drove it and parked it. Then two days later the battery was dead. 10. 19. 21 - took vehicle to mercedes for a regular schedule b service 10. 21. 21 - vehicle battery was dead after trying to crank it. 10. 22. 21 - mercedes sent tow truck to bring it back to them. The battery was replaced on 10. 25. 21 and I picked up the vehicle. 11. 10. 21 - vehicle new battery was dead again. Mercedes sent tow truck. The tow truck driver jumpstarted the vehicle and couldn't get the vehicle into neutral. Then the sos inoperable message appeared. Vehicle was towed to mercedes and diagnosed the next day (11. 11. 21) with a bad instrument cluster. Apparently there are no new instrument clusters available in the world, according to mercedes, they are on backorder. And I cannot get a loaner vehicle. So they'd like for me to be without a vehicle for the foreseeable future.

3 electrical related issues within a few months. 1. Blind spot and lane departure warning come on and off while driving. 2. Blind spot yellow light comes on the side mirrors while applying break 3. This week the turn signal periodically stop working and each time have to stop kill engine and start engine again to reset but reset only last for a while.

The turn signals stop working after driving the car for a few minutes. To get them to work again requires stopping the car, shutting off the engine and restarting it which in turn resets the computer. This effort does not permanently fix the issue and they usually quit working again within two to ten miles. This is the fifth complaint to the NHTSA with this issue and this particular model. This is a safety hazard which needs to be addressed by the manufacturer and fixed free of charge. This has been an ongoing issue for the past two to three years with this car. Today we were almost rear ended when making a left hand turn off of a two lane road without a designated turn lane.

Rear brake light ground overheated and caused fire damaging wire harness and light assembly during driving. All tail lights affected.
