Air Bag Light On Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis - part 1

Air bag light comes on and blinks code 3 3 then dings an alarm 5 dings x 5 times every 30 minutes, light stays on. I understand code 33 or 34 are seat belt pretentioners that are known to fail on mid 2000's Ford vehicles. Mine is 2006 Grand Marquis. This appears to be a defect in materials causing a saftey concern for myself and passengers. The air bag system is disabled until repaired and the repair is very expensive. The vehicle has not been in an accident and it has been diagnosed as a driver side pretentioner high resistance failure. The mechanic suggested they replace both driver and passenger side since the passenger side will most likely also fail soon according to his experiance. This should be recalled to have pretensioners replaced since it is a known defect and safety hazard caused by Ford parts.

The air bag light on the driver side stays on and sometimes blinks. This car only has 21,523 miles on it. I'm told this is an indication of a malfunctioning air bag operation. Has a recall been issued on this malfunction. The air bag light comes on when the car is stationary and moving. This has created a fear of the air bag not operating correctly in the event of an accident. The repair for it is unknown to me.

Air bag light comes on and has a dinging noise that goes through a cycle of dinging 5 times then has break of approximately 15 min then does it again. Has not been in accident and shows no sign of problem with actual parts.

Driver seatbelt was replaced (bad maybe) and air bag light came on immediately after seat belt was replaced wipers turn on by themselves and will not turn off.

Tamara I just love this car. I don't know why they have to make cheaper cars an smaller trunks. Any way on driver side the air bag light is on. An as I'm trying to get somewhere. Than the beeping noise starts up randomly an it can get on your nerves. But if I take it to a dealerships I can't afford their prices. Thankyou. Oh I love how big the trunk is.

Takata recall the passenger side of car, when a passenger is setting in the car seat and the car is moving, I have taken note that the airbag light on dash panel will go off and own. I have not seen the light go off and own.

The air bag light remains on all the time. My mechanic says that car's computer is generating a code indicating a problem with a sensor in driver's side seat belt. He says that the entire seat belt assembly must be replaced at a cost of $500. The car only has 70,000 miles on it. Since this is a safety issue and appears from the many complaints you've received to be a common problem with 2005 Grand Marquis's, I urge dot to issue a recall to require the manufacturer to pay for the necessary repairs.

Air bag light stays on. When starting car, get 3 dings twice, pause, repeat . . . I have been told by a local dealer it will cost $600-$1200 to fix. Considering the number of complaints on this issue and the fact that it is a safety issue, why has NHTSA not required a recall? since I cannot afford the cost, I guess I will have to live with it as I am sure many others are doing.

My air bag light came on and warning beeps consecutively 5 times then stops and repeats with 5 beeps. After checking the manual I went online and found out there are several complaints regarding this make and model having the same prolem. Why is there so recall???? also would seem to be a hazard regarding no airbag deploy and very expensive to fix.

The vehicle was taken to jack bowker Ford Lincoln (located at 2450 n 14th st, ponca city, ok 74601) where it was diagnosed that the air bag module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was contacted at (800) 521-4140 and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 64,863.

On September 9, 2015 I purchased a used 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. I was informed that the airbag light was on. I subsequently found that there had been some minor damage to the lower front of the vehicle, not resulting in airbag deployment. In researching the problem and to determine if there had been an airbag recall by the NHTSA, I found that there had been 57 registered complaints on the repair pal website and that a complaint had also been filed with the NHTSA. For this problem and that the problem was a result of defective seat-belt assemblies. There should be a safety recall issued for this problem as it effects the proper functionality of the restraint system in the event of a collision.

First noticed airbag light began flashing on and off. Within two days the airbag light came on and remained on. Had the dealer check this out. The report came back driver side seat belt was at fault. No repair available must be replaced.

Now(sept 9,2014) the passenger side unit needs replacement at a cost of $700. 00 for each side. The state of virginia inspection process requires replacement for the vehicle to pass. I'm told the air bag is in-operative when the light is on this a safety issue.

Air bag light illuminated. Dealer said the passenger side seat belt pretensioner needed to be replaced at a cost of 500. 00+. He mentioned that this was a chronic problem with 2005 Grand Marquis vehicles. He also mentioned that when the air bag light was illuminated and that the air bag system would not function. I also did an internet search and found that this is indeed a chronic problem with Ford vehicles in general for 2005 model vehicles. I hope to see this issue addressed by a recall as I cannot afford to pay to have it repaired. This vehicle was purchased new and has 32416 miles and has never been involved in an accident.
