19 Air Bag problem of the 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 06/10/2016

Hello, I own a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis and have been experiencing an apparent problem with the air bag / seatbelt system. There is a light that is on that says airbag. I had it checked out by my local mechanic who said it was likely a seatbelt tensioner per the code in the computer. After doing some research online, I discovered that there were pages of people with similar problems. A working replacement could not be installed as these parts are numbered to the car and have to be repaired and reprogrammed. Dealers have quoted over $500+ for the repair, per my research. Given the amount of people just on the forums, for many years and mileages of this car, just for this problem. There is an apparent problem with Ford's s q. C. From the start. If they are going to install a safety system it ought not become a liability, as I don't know if it will save me or injure me much less if the seat belts will work in an emergency! your feedback is appreciated. If I have reached the wrong dept. In errata could you either forward this to the right party or let me know who to contact. Again there are numerous complaints online about these vehicles. I have experienced Ford not including on the recall list, models that have had recall problems before. Please help. Thank you kindly keith schneider.

26 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

My wife was involved in a head on collision on 01. 15. 2015. Impact was edge of one vehicle to edge of other vehicle. . She was wearing seat belt. Her side seat and steering wheel air bags deployed. My wife still hit the windshield with her head. No secondary impacts occurred (I. E. , 3rd vehicle or fixed object). Accident sheared the driver's wheel and brake assembly off completely. Completely splitting the aluminium wheel in half. Frame was also bent under the wheel-well housing towards the firewall. I am inquiring as to whether there are any other recorded incidents of similar occurrences with this vehicle. Seems strange that with these safety measures in place, and utilized a driver can still hit the windshield. (not absolutely certain of the vehicle's mileage. . . But it isn't high. ).

Was told it was a module unit by one place the other couldn't find a reason. I have not had it fixed since I couldn't get a clear reason for it, also the car runs fine. 35 Air Bag problem of the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

Around 12 years ago, when my 2006 marquis, which I purchased brand new, had only approximately 40,000 miles on it, the seatbelt-airbag system warning appeared on the instrument panel and a warning bell sound went off with a 3 beep then 2 beeps/ring tone that would sound whenever the vehicle was started for the next two minutes of driving. It would then stop but the yellow warning icon stays on. On a trip, while driving, it will do this every hour or so or 60 miles of driving, and has done this ever since. (I'm retired and drive very little, my vehicle as of today (5-13-2022) has only 54,462 actual miles on it. ) I did some research when it first occurred and learned that the 3 - 2 beeps is a "code 32, seat belt pre-tensioner failure warning and will need immediate service and replacement. " so I then called Ford and explained it as above. They told me that it is not their problem and are not acknowledging any responsibility and it will be up to me to see a dealer, which I did. I was told that it would require replacement of both my seat front seat belts, and possibly more including airbag components to the tune of several thousand dollars! I asked them, as I did Ford: as I've had many Ford vehicles, personal and company, several of which I've driven over 200k miles, without ever having a seat belt or airbag component failure, how is this my problem and not Ford's, especially after only 40k miles? I had asked Ford these two most important questions: 1- "what did I do to cause this failure?" and 2- "what could I have done to prevent it?" they refused to answer and only told me that I need to take it to a dealer to have it repaired. I have not pursued it as I didn't have the thousands of dollars the dealer wanted to charge me. This is wrong as it is part of Ford's refusal to acknowledge the faulty components in their seat belt/airbag systems, which has been putting my life at risk ever since their components' failure and Ford needs to be held responsible!.
