Start engine, air bag light on dash illuminates, beep alarm sounds for a series of five beeps followed by 1 second of silence, and repeats for five repetitions of the same. Light remains on and after 30 minutes of driving on road operation, the alarm repeats for 5 repetitions as before. This continues as long as the engine is operated without turning off. When shut off and restarted, the alarm starts all over for the series of 5 beeps in 5 repetitions. My dealer says this is not a safety issue and wants over $800. 00 for a new computer module. I have no way to document complaint or dealer response.
At start up I noticed the amber air bag light stays on - then I restarted the car and read air bag light blinking 3 and 4 times. Took the car to mechanic, after testing with some sort of computer he found out that the passenger side seat belt pretensioner was bad and needs replacement.

The seat belt warning air bag light came on and won't go off. It happen back in Aug 2011 at 40,598 miles now two years later at 53,631 same probelm again. I filed a complaint then and now once again , when are you people going to make Ford fix these cars right. If you look at all the complaints filed concerning the seat belt probelm it would seem to me that you are doing absoulety nothing except letting these car manufactures give us consumer a bunch of bs and charge us and arm and leg to fix some thing that shouldn't be failing that soon. I mean come on in 13,000 miles and it fails again. It will cost me another $450. 00 to fix the same probelm and if I don't the air bag system will not work so where does that leave me???.
About 3 years ago my air bag light came on and has been on ever since. I took my car to my dealership, marshall brothers. I told the service guy that the light stays on. He said that he has been seeing this problem in other mercuries and that they should be issuing a recall. He said that both seats in the front had to be taken out and that it would cost $1500 for the repair. While waiting for the recall, marshall brothers went out of business. I am still waiting for the recall while driving around with this air bag light on. When will this be recalled? does this mean anything is wrong with the actual air bag? is this a takata air bag? as long as the engine is running the air bag light is on.
Air bag light came on when car started. Did not go off. New driver side seat belt assembly installed 8/06/2005. Aug 11, air bag light came on & stayed on.
The contact owns a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the passenger side pre tensioner needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 55,000.
I was driving along and the dashboard "front airbag light" came on and a beeping sound began. Since my vehicle is a Mercury and there are no Mercury dealers now, I called the nearest Ford dealership. They say that when the light is flashing it means my airbag is not working. If I bring the vehicle in, they will diagnose it for $49 and then tell me how much it will cost to fix it. They said there is no recall on this issue. I checked the internet and found several automotive forums that discuss this issue. Apparently it has been a topic of discussion since at least 2008. I'm concerned for my safety and will make arrangements to have the situation accessed and then fixed. However in today's economy, many people will just let the light continue to be lit and do nothing. This means that their airbags will be inoperable. I think either NHTSA or Ford should consider a recall on this.
The passenger airbag light stays on at all times after the vehicle has been started.
