This Mercury grand marquis LS has had 4 failures of coil packs. These can cause servious damage to auto by puting the auto out of balance or stranding you on the highway. This auto has had several failures that resulted in costly repairs, and no recall existed when in fact this is a very very common problem on all marques. Research says that all fords made in canada have serious electrical problems due to inferior parts which I presume are imported. I do have old parts for your inspection from one of the replaced coils. One dealer in dallas refused to provide old parts. I do have receipts for all repairs.

2000 Mercury Grand Marquis LS VIN 2mefm75w5yx707045. While driving at 55 mph the car stalled and couldn't be started until pulled over to the side of the road. When towed and repaired at the Mercury garage, the only cause was a defective #8 cylinder coil/plug assembly. I believe this is a very dangerous condition. I found out later that Ford has a service bulletin out for coil/plug failures. A couple of weeks before this the #7 coil/plug assembly shorted out but it did not cause the car to shut down. I believe Ford should recall 2000 Mercurys and replace all 8 of the coil/plug assemblies. I bought the car new. It was my 3rd Grand Marquis and my last. I traded the car as a result of the #8 coil/plug failure . You may give Ford this information.
When the consumer applied the brake his foot also hit the accelerator pedal which caused the vehicle to accelerate suddenly. The vehicle turn signal were inoperative and the ignition key was hard to turn at times.
