Driving, coming to a stoplight, the brakes suddenly failed, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Pumping I was able to get just enough brakes to stop before colliding with the car in front of us. The service abs and emergency brake service warning lights came on after the near collision. I took the car to a Ford dealership and was told the hcu unit had failed. This is a $4,000 part that we had already replaced at 76,000 miles,. The new part failed again without warning only 22,000 miles later.
