She wanted me to have a safe car and this car has been nothing but unsafe. Please help me get my monies back. Safety issue type: complaints January 31 2019 NHTSA id number: 11173378 components: service brakes NHTSA id number 11173378 incident date January 07 2019 consumer location medina, OH vehicle identification number 3mehmohaoar****** complaint summary crash no, fire no, injuries 0, deaths 0. Immediately after the abs brake system activated, my brake pedal went to the floor and I went thru a red light. My research indicates that this is a common issue with the abs pump/module. My vehicle was in motion on a busy street and fortunately didn't hit a car at the intersection, when I went thru the red light. I was told to go to a Ford dealership to have the defect confirmed. I called the closest Ford dealership and they want $129 to do diagnostics to confirm my brakes aren't working before they can confirm. Update: January 2020 recall # 19v904 was issued in December 2019 for the abs pump issue. I was notified this month (Jan 2020) that fusions, mkes, zepher's and Milan's for model years 2006 thru to model year 2010, was issued for vehicles manufactured until July 15th 2009. My 2010 Milan was manufactured on 07/24/2009 and is not included in the recall. For most of the last year, I have not let my wife drive this vehicle if there is rain, mist or snow on the roads because of this defective abs brake system. As you can expect I'm outraged that this could happen.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

Brake pedal goes to floor randomly. Almost ran 2 stop signs and had accident. Shop says is faulty abs module due to leaky valves - will cost 1500. 00 to repair. 110,000 mi. Why is there no recall on this safety issue from Ford?.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2018

Faulty abs pump causes low brake pedal, soft braking. I have almost rear-end vehicles due to the brake pedal going to the floor during normal driving. Seems to be a common fault on these fusions/milans.

45 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

I was in motion merging onto a two lane highway. I ran over two consecutive manhole covers while lightly braking to see if it was clear. But when I went to brake because it wasn't clear to merge onto the highway I had barely any brake! thankfully the car in front of me was able to merge or I would have hit him. After that I had a very soft brake pedal. Left it in a parking lot until after work. So hours later, the brakes seemed fine. But I didn't trust it. Had it towed and Ford told me it was the abs hcu and ecu and that they are known for this problem. Especially after traveling on a rough roadway. I had to go back to the road the next day because I couldn't remember it being a rough road. Then I saw the two consecutive manhole covers. I ran them over in my husbands truck and sure enough, even his truck jolted from them, enough for the abs to engage. This is a horrible issue and I'm amazed that Ford has not made it a recall yet! what will it take!? the repair was quite expensive. And I was out of a car for two whole weeks! it took almost a week for the part to come in. Not sure if that was the dealers bs or Ford not having the parts readily available for an issue they already know exists. This has not been my first Ford product but it sure may be my last!.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2018

Please investigate the Milan / fusion soft braking issue. Without notice on a turn, the brakes go to the floor. This happened in Nov. 2017 and July 2018. In Nov. 2017 the fluid was flush but it reoccurred. Fortunately, no one was in front of me or there would have been an accident or fatality. The car took an excessive distance to stop. This is a known problem that Ford must correct before someone dies.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

I was driving in the road and drove over a pothole. As I pressed the break pedal, the pedal vibrated and went "soft. " I had to press the brake all the way down to the floor to get the car to stop. It happened three times. The first two times, the brakes return to normal in a about 15-30 minutes, but after the third time, the breaks stood "soft. " I talked to service specialist at a Ford dealer and they are aware of this problem. My investigation lead to this problem affecting Milans from 2009 and below. Well mine is a 2010 and it also has this issue.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2017

While my vehicle is in motion, every time that I hit a large bump or have to engage the abs system by having to stop very quickly, the brake pedal goes so soft that even to stop at a stop light after going at low rates of speed, I have to push it all the way to the floor so that I can come to a full stop. The problem eventually corrects itself, but it takes at least a few hours and sometimes up to a day or more. This can happen in all any driving condition (city street, highway, driveway, etc. . . ), and at any speed (as low as 5 mph). I recently read that 2007-2009 models were being investigated for the exact same reason, and wanted to make sure that the 2010 model was added to the list because I feel very un-safe driving my car sometimes, and the abs system is such a vital component to a safe drive. Also, after reading the next page, the most recent instance happened just yesterday (5/21/17), but this has been going on since I bought the car in January of 2011. My mechanic has never been able to experience it, so he doesn't know how to fix it, but from what I've read, the hydraulic brake controller is the faulty part. Can you please put a re-call out on this??.

52 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2017

With some snow and ice on road on 1/8/17 in roanoke, va, car brakes went almost all the way to floor and then rear wheel started locking up intermittently. This occurred as backing out of driveway and starting down residential street. I got out of car and had son drive back into driveway. I witnessed the drivers side rear wheel locked down for about 30 ft. Before the wheel started rolling again. Was going very slow at time so no accident. Struggled just to get car back in driveway. Will take car to dealer when weather clears.

55 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

The driver's side break light is hyderactive when my headlights are on. When the headlights are off the break light works fine. This seems to be a popular issue with many Mercury milians. The part was 377. 00 to replace it and I have no had the car a full year. Also my driver's side actuator in my headlight went as well. My first car purchased ever and it was Ford and I have had nothing but issue with the car. Disappointing.

56 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Driver side tail lamp assembly is not functional seems the led portion of the taillight assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of $400-500 from the dealer. This is the second tailight in the 2 years of ownership that it has had to be replaced. Very poor design and safety concern of mine since this is no longer a $2. 00 bulb replacement but an entire taillight assembly.

60 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

I have had the Milan 2010 into Ford 6 times because the engine lost all power without warning:no lights;brakes;steering. I have witnesses. It has happened in all types of conditions: stop and go traffic; merging onto a freeway. The last time black smoke came from under the hood. The car was in the shop for 6 weeks. A week after it was so called "repaired" the problem occurred again. I started a "lemon law" complaint in March 2012. My mother became fatally ill and died and I could not complete the claim. June 15, 2012 I was pulling into a parking space and the electrical system failed. I could not stop. I crashed into a cement wall. The car was a total loss. I got whiplash. My insurance company will not pay the balance remaining on the car. Bbb stopped "lemon law" case because there was an accident. No attorney will take the case because there is not enough money to be gained. I am without a car; in debt; injured; driving a rental car and working 12 hours a day to buy a new car. Please help me.
