1 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

Changed front pads ( never opened bleeder)then had soft pedal, after that changed frond brake lines master cylinder, booster, abs control unit and calipers still soft pedal. Then used snapon scan tool to perform brake bleeding in abs control unit, still problem persisted, as of now still no luck (bleeding all 4wheels in factory specs have been perform/bench bleeding) still soft pedal.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 05/13/2007

The contact owns a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. While driving in reverse and shifting gears, the vehicle hesitated. The cruise control engaged without warning and the vehicle stalled while driving 75mph. The service manager drove with the contact and observed the failure; however, he stated that the vehicle was operating normally. The accelerator also does not engage properly when increasing speed. The dealer stated that the electrical brain failed and attempted to repair it on two occasions. An expert from out of state also inspected the vehicle; however, they were unable to diagnose the failure. While approaching a stop sign, the brakes failed and almost caused a crash. The dealer stated that the master cylinder failed. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 52,000.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1997 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 07/07/1998

The brake master cylinder malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which almost resulted in an accident. Dealer claimed that the wires were tampered with. Consumer denied the allegation.
