I own a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. The hinges holding the rear winsdhield in place broke and my windshield fell out. I understand there was a recall on the Ford explorer for the same issue but not for the Mercury Mountaineer. Since there are no recalls for my vehicle I am responsible for paying on the repairs and I feel this is a safety recall issue.

The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer. When the contact purchased the vehicle, the rear wiper was not working at all. The failure was noticed while driving 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the arm, motor, and wiring were replaced. Afterwards, the front wipers would not receive wiper fluid. The dealer corrected the failure and the wipers worked for approximately 3-4 weeks. Currently, the front wipers are the only ones that function. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that the failure was not a safety issue and were no longer involved with NHTSA campaign id number 00v072000 (electrical system:fuses and circuit breakers). The current and failure mileages were 126,000.

I bought my vehicle about 3 years ago. It had 60,000 on the odometer. The back windshield wiper never worked, and does once in a while and the radio light never stays on. Once in a while it will show the station or the time. My drivers side door handle has always been loose. My engine light came on a year after I got it and it will not go off. It say egr flow insufficient and yet I have replaced all of those and had the computer reset. The passenger side door does not lock unless I lock it by hand and then you can't open it. The back seats sometimes lock and other times won't. My seat was recalled and I took it, and now it is broken. These cars are not made very well and I think we should get letters on the recalls. I haven't received but one letter and I took it immediately, but I see there have been other recalls and I wasn't notified. What should I do now?.

Problems with radio, paint and rear windshield wiper. There was a loud grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle as well as the engine area, when the noise stopped, a cloud of black emitted from the vehicle. The dealer stated it was normal, because the all wheel drive had activated for the first time. The weather stripping around the windshield was replaced and there was a problem with the power train.
