Firestone recalled wilderness at from decatur, my tires were not recalled. Because of tire losing air pressure and becoming flat, I did not feel safe and purchased 5 new tires; firestone and Ford refuses to give me any satisfaction in this matter, as neither of them will reimburse my $571. 00 to replace firestone tires!!!( dot number: ?? tire size: p235/75/15 ).

360 degree cracks 5/32 & 3/32 deep all tires---firestone refuses to include in recall. I have the tires and can provide them to you for analysis. ( dot number: vnhl tire size: 235/75/15 ).
Steel belt showing through tires, consumer took tires to firestone dealer but was told they were not covered under recall because they didn't have the proper dot code (firestone wilderness at p235/75r15 dot w2hl). Nlm.
Tires were inspected by firestone & found to be defective. Firestone said these tires are not on recall list but said that all tires should be replaced but I would have to pay for replacement tires. ( dot number: vnhl tire size: p235/75r15 ).
Both the front firestone tires experienced severe cracks, consumer replaced tires with goodyear ones.
One of the front firestone wilderness tires (p235/75r15) had a strip of tire missing, the consumer replaced the 2 front tires, now the consumer hears about recall 00t-005 and 3 out of 5 tires were included and replaced, the consumer is requesting reimbursement for the 2 tires that were replaced prior to the recall which may or may not have been included in the recall.
While driving, rear firestone wilderness tire (no tire size mentioned) blew out and casing flew off, damaging vehicle, claim number 03-3162-568.
Steel belt was showing on firestone tire.
My family was on vacation and traveling on interstate 85 south. About 1/2 hour before stopping the vehicle started to sway. I thought it was a cross wind or air pocket created as we passed or was passed by traitor trailers on the road. The family decided to stop for lunch and exited off i85 south at 12b. We proceeded to golden corral - 807 e. Atlantic street - south hill, virginia. Upon exiting the vehicle I noticed the left rear tire going flat. I inspected it and notice two slashes about two inches in length on both sides if tire about two feet apart. The cut was on the side of tire where the tread began and was separating. At this time a customer leaving the golden corral approached me and inspected the tire and told me this is the same tire that was reported on the 6pm news one day earlier as being defective. I contacted aaa to change my flat tire. Later that afternoon we stopped in raleigh, nc and purchased one new firestone wilderness at tire. One used tire became the spare and two new tires were on the rear(the original spare and the new tire just purchased). We continued safely on our trip to eufala, al. On August 23, 2000 I contacted my dealership in reference to the tires beging exchanged. The person answering the phone indicated they had nothing to do with the replacement but a firestone dealer in emerson, NJ was involved. Late in the morning of 8/23/00 I went to the emerson, NJ firestone dealership and the tires were inspected and was told one tire was ok(I supposed the one purchased on 8/3/00). However, I was placed on a waiting list and told the backlog was about one month. I proceeded to my dealership and explained to them what had happened during vacation and I wanted my tires replaced. Dean griffen was helpful but did not have any tires nor did two other locations that were called. I on my own purchased 5 tires from goodyear in bergenfield, NJ. ( dot number: tire size: p23575r15s ).
Tires are showing signs of separation, more so in the back, firestone will not replace them. (dot number: w2hl tiresize: p235/75r15).

I've been to a firestone dealer and the place I bought the vehicle, both tell me that my tires aren't on recall, but can sell me new ones. My tires are cracking around the treads just like the recalled ones I've seen on television, but they both are telling me there is nothing they can do about it! I just can't go out and afford new ones, and these are clearly defective. Who can I get to actually look at these tires and take responsibility? the firestone representative told me that he has seen several of my type of splitting, but there is nothing he can do (he was quite rude also) about it except sell me new ones. Now if these firestones aren't recalled and are bad, why would I purchase other non-recalled firestones. I have retained an air pressure of approx. 34psi since I've owned it. These tires are cracking and anyone who wishes to view these can just contact me and I will make them available at any time. Please contact me, I'm about at the end of my rope and these tires should also be recalled, unless of course mine are deffective alone, and then they (firestone or Ford) should correct this problem to. . Thank you for your time. . V/r, j. Matt duffin (dot number: w2 tiresize: p235/75r15) (dot number: w2 tiresize: p235/75r15).
Vehicle had tire separation (firestone) . Yh.
Left front tire on the inside and right front tire on the outside. . . . . The belts are broke on both tires and are coming through the tread. Wire is sticking out of tires and is causing the front end of vechicle to wobble. The tires are too the point where they are unsafe to drive on. I have the exact tire that is being recalled, the same brand and size but because it was not made in the decatur illinois plant, my tires are not being replaced. I have a 18 month old baby and every time that I have to drive my vehicle I constantly wonder if my tires will burst, causing an accident or a death. I believe that my tires should be included in this recall or at least be replaced. (dot number: w2hl426 tiresize: p235/75r15).
While driving on route 34, near tidewater, oregon, rear tire disintegrated and we were able to guide the vehicle to the side of the road. Luckily no-one was coming in the opposite direction at the time. We were able to secure assistance from a nearby resident who called tow truck from waldport, oregon. Tire was in shreds, and smoking when we stopped. ( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 ).
Vehicle started to vibrate, we checked all of the tires and saw nothing, continued to drive and eventually the vibration subsided some. Later noticed section of tread missing on back left tire. Took vehicle to authorized firestone dealer who immediately replaced defective tire and kept it. Gave us small credit toward new firestones. Bought firestone atx ii tires. Filed complaint with firestone and with tire dealer on 8/7/2000 for both sets of tires. Still have original 3 tires and original spare -never used- review of 3 shows what appears to be stress all around outer edge of tread. Am thankful no accident resulted and hope this information assists in investigation. ( dot number: vdhl1py157 tire size: p235/75r15 ).

Com sent: Friday, September 15, 2000 1:50 am subject: firestone wilderness at blowout inquiry > on June 29, 2000, while driving from st. Paul, minnesota to duluth, I experienced a blowout on i35. Many cars were on the road at the time, however I was able to maneuver to the side of the road safely and change the tire. There was no debris in the road and no other cars experienced problems around me. I drove to a duluth firestone dealer and had the tire replaced. Upon examining the tire, they could not find a puncture. The tire was torn up from the highspeed freeway incident and maneuvering to the side. The tire was located on the passenger rear. The rim was not damaged and I purchased a matching tire from firestone. Attached is a line item from my mastercard for your reference. The tires are wilderness at brand on a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer with dot code w2hl. The tires had 13,590 miles on them at the time of the incident. I am very concerned that this incident is tied to the problems currently being experienced by others leading to the recall of this line of firestone tires. Currently this includes dot code vdhl. I would appreciate your comments on the expansion of the recall to include my tires now that it appears I have experienced the same problem as others with more severe consequence. Regards, tom stangl white bear lake, mn 06/29 firestone 00016918 duluth mn $111. 50. (dot number: w2hl tiresize: p235/75 r1).
Complete tread separation of 1 rear tire at freeway speeds. ( dot number: tire size: 23575r15 ).

Wife of owner was driving vehicle on level asphalt pavement under normal conditions at speed limit. Tire "exploded" and came apart so violently that chrome steel rim was bent on impact with pavement. Driver was able to maintain control of vehicle and pull off onto shoulder. Vehicle was towed for service. All tires and one rim were replaced. Infant child was a passenger at time of incident. I was on the freeway with my son it was hot when we got off it sounded like I had a flat tire when we looked the half tread around and half width was raised way up so we took side roads home. The dealership told me it's firestones problem . . Firestone told me to pay $58. 75 for a new one so I did . . . No one ever checked the rest of my tires until I made them after the recall started one tire had 46lbs. In it the others were way off too. I am now stuck with a firestone tire thats not on the recall for my spare and I have purchased 4 goodyear tires to go on my car. I have sent away for the $400. I suposely get for the goodyear and I also asked for my $58. 75 for the tire that almost killed us. . . Never before the recall did the dealership or firestone have any concerns about the tires or the well being of the drivers as far as air pressure or a chance of faulty tires. . . . . . . . . I still loose $ on the tires but thank goodness I did not die w/ my baby on that day. . . . . . ( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 ).
I had two firestone atx recalled tires replaced on 02 Mar 00 due to belts shifting within the tires. Two months later, on 12 Apr 00, two recalled firstone atx tires "delaminated" (within two hours of each other)while I was drving on I-10 through el paso, texas and through lordsburg new mexico. The damage from the tires delaminating was approximately $1,800. (tiresize: p235/75r15)( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 ).
Preiviously contacted ntsha ref # 866987 (info on forme sent me is incorrect) correct info follows: while driving to FL, in georga noticed a viberations in from end. Contacted Ford, they said try to have tires balanced. Firestone store said can't balance tire because the steel belts have seperated internally. There is an aporx. Hight differance betreen treads of 1/2": I didn't want to pay $120 for a new tire so I had the store mount that tire as my spare. I still have this tire. Firestone has since said that they will replace that tire, but since it is not in the recall, I was wondering if you wanted to look at this tire since it did not totally fail?( dot number: w2hl1py467 tire size: 23575r15 ).
Tires were replaced since there were signs of hunks of tire being thrown from the tire. There appeared to be evenely spaced stress mars in the tire. I feared for my safety and had them replaced in January. ( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 ).

Vehicle experienced failure of the firestone wilderness tires prior to recall notification, consumer requesting reimbursement and replacement of remaining tires (00t-005).
My wife purchased a 1996 Mercury Mountaineer in hawaii in February 1998. The vehicle came equipped with wilderness at tires (vnhl ipy 336 235/75 r15). In December 1999, tread on one of the new tires separated when the vehicle had 25,005 miles on it while driving in hawaii at a speed of about 55 mph. We went to a firestone dealer in waipahu, hi and were told we had to buy a new tire ($39. 97 ) that would be prorated based upon the remaining tread. The low cost for the new tire reflected the lack of tread wear on the bad tie. Unfortunately, this replacement tire was another wilderness tire (8xhl 1py 1100 235/75 r15). While in el paso in may 2000, as were driving the mountainer across country, a second of the original "vnhl" tires suffered tread separation and had to be replaced. As we were replacing the second tire, with another wilderness at (8xhl 1py 269, 235/75 r15 ), at a prorated cost of $64. 99, the mechanic, at bob musel mesa firestone in el paso, noticed that a third "vnhl" on the ground was bad because it had a chunk of tread missing from the tire. He took this bad tire off the ground and it is now my useless spare. Fortunately, no one was injured during either incident. But I think our lunck might be running out. The tread separation led us to condude in may that the original wilderness at tires that camne with the veh were clearly defective, and the recent firestone recall suggests that all of the wilderness tires are probably defective, despite the distinction that is currently being proferred. We visited firesstone dealers in newark (cochran & trevits) and new castle (scott balmann, managere) delaware this past weekend to attempt to have our dangerous, defective tires replaced. We showed our receipts, told our story and got no results. In each case, the dealership stated that neither "vnhl" or 8xhl" dot designated wildereness at tires were part of the recall established by firestone. My former/current "vhnl" tires are bad!!!!.

The tires failed two weeks prior to the official firestone recall. Neither firestone nor Ford is willing to reimburse me for the cost of repalcing the tires. (tiresize: p235/75r15)( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 ).
The vehicle was sold with the wrong size tires on the vehicle, which was the possible caused of problems with the speedometer readings.
