Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1996 Mercury Villager

Three problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1996 Mercury Villager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 05/12/1999

While placing vehicle in reverse and then applying brakes to drive it, vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing the consumer to hit a wall. Dealer has been contacted.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/22/1996

While driving, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. Dealer replaced throttle body.

3 Speed Control Linkage problem

Pulling into parking space , foot was lightly on brake when vehicle suddenly surged forward ,running over median. Please provide further information.
