Warning message for seat belt tension/air bag malfunction and both lights are on. The vehicle has 40+ thousand miles on it, I am a second owner. This problem just started on may 29, 2020. No accidents for this vehicle. Cost for repair is over $2000 and so far there's only recalls for 2008 convertible which I totally don't understand. This looks to be an ongoing problem with the Mini and needs to be addressed due to the air bags being affected. I currently have no photos but can readily supply photos upon request. The seat belt light/air bag emblem shows on the dash screen when entering the key while stationary, no one is sitting in the passenger seat when this happens and does not go away when occupied.

The air bag detection warning remains active after dealer reinstallation of the seat detector pad.
I had an accident on 6-30-2016 where I lost control of my car due to hitting first a soft shoulder of the hwy. Sr145 travelling at a speed of approx. 50-55 mph. I grazed a power pole on driver's side door and ran through three large wooden posts on a ranchers property. The car spun at an180 angle leaving me in the field facing the opposite direction for which I was headed. Not one airbag deployed on impact!!! I am concerned that these airbags and/or installation is faulty and chp office said I could have been killed if the right front tire had not blown causing me to veer just to the right of the power/telephone pole. Power to the area was knocked out for approx. 1 hour. I do have copies of the police report and about 18 pictures of the accident with two pictures being a closeup of my 2009 Mini cooper. Please let me know if you need anything else?.
Passenger side seat mat for detecting passengers presents, intermittently fails causing the air bag to be deactivated when a passenger is present and the vehicle is moving.

Air bag warning with the fault code 93c3 which has caused a recall of 91 thousand vehicles. . . My Mini s is not a recall car. (on the same grid as the recalled Mini's. . . Same oem repair parts) Mini USA representative [jamie] suggested I remove the air bag and put a sign up in the dash indicating 'no air bag" if I did not want to pay the $1500. 00+ in repaiir cost. . . And that will allow me to pass the state inspection.
Airbag passenger side light on w only 25000 miles on it, mechanic told me it's a short in the wiring caused by sunroof slicing into it. Said he could fix it but headliner has to come down and he doesn't do that kind of work. Contacted Mini USA and was told it's out of warranty and dealer prob won't fix it without charge. When someone gets killed or mamed, maybe they'll recall. Cost to repair about $5k. . .
The contact owns a 2006 Mini Cooper S. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v205000 (air bags); however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I have a safety recall (no. 25v-205), an air bag problem, issued last June and have now received another recall ((15v-660). The first recall has yet to be repaired. The air bag "off" light is on all the time. I have contacted Mini and the dealer twice and they tell me there is not a fix yet. I think 6 months is long enough for an air bag problem. I have not had a problem with the second recall, a steering problem, but I assume it could happen. I am concerned that the combination of these two creates an extra dangerous condition. I asked Mini if they would pay for a rental when I needed to have a passenger. They refused. This is my only vehicle and I have no other choice.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Mini Cooper S. The contact received notificatipn of NHTSA campaign number: 15v205000 (air bags) hoever, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Mini Cooper S. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 15v205000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Dyd.
Passengers air bag appears off when someone are seat. This evolve a serious safety issue in case of accident.
Airbag and seatbelt light remain on in the vehicle. I will not pay the outrageous amount of money the dealership wants the fix or replace whatever is wrong with it. Maybe ill be the first person injured because of this fault that a recall actually is issued for this defect.
Airbag failure light came on. . . After researching this problem, this is a known issue but the manufacturer will not cover this under warranty. 700. 00 to diagnose and fix the issue (conservative estimate) called Mini USA, and they will not issue a recall even though thousands of people have had the same issue.
Front passenger air bag detection mat became inoperable at about 60,000 miles. My car is mfg 4 months outside of the recall time frame yet this very same mfg date is well within the "convertible models" recall date. I feel the "non-convertible models" recall time frame should be re-evaluated because there are too many of us with this very same problem. When I took my car to Mini to be fixed they told me they've seen many vehicles outside of the official recall dates with this problem.

About 1 week after I bought the car, the passenger air bag off light comes on when I have a passenger and the airbag malfunction sign comes on the dash. In the manual it says :in the event of a malfunction, have the airbag system checked immediately. Otherwise, there is a risk that the system will not function as intended in response to a severe impact occurring within the system's normal triggering range. I have bumper to bumper warranty but they told me it is not a safety issue and I have to pay 100 to have it looked at. I just want to make sure everything is okay. But I do not have the money to do that.
Passenger bag system has not worked for over two years.
Air bag warning lamp illuminated as well as "airbag off" light illuminated. Occurs when passenger is and is not in seat. Audio for seatbelt occurs when passenger is not in seat. Mini dealer repaired initially at about 30k miles, occurred again at 48k miles.
While on a short vacation out of town, close to 230 miles from my home, my Cooper S' power steering failed and almost cause me an accident. I immediately checked the fluid and saw that there were no visible leaks present. After making arrangements for a rental vehicle, I noticed that the power steering started working correctly again. Because of that I proceeded to return home and the steering did not fail for the remainder of the trip. During March of 2012, the power steering failed again, during a commute home from work on Friday, may 3rd. To this day, I have no been able to afford additional repairs or diagnostics, because of the monthly payments, insurance, fuel and previous issues of repairs under 75,000 miles including the head gasket, and heater core. Regardless of the policies that BMW/Mini and the NHTSA have concerning used vehicles, and warranties, absolutely no vehicle produced by an internationally known company or business should be producing such unreliable, unsafe and potentially dangerous motor vehicles and not take immediate responsibility to isolate and terminate the issue rather than ignore and deny responsibility for poorly manufactured products.

Very disappointed to find out that a vehicle I have taken exceptional care of to avoid costly repairs has also had the occupancy mat go bad out of the blue. . . . I wasn't even driving the car! I held out hope that the repair would be covered under warranty, and was told off the record by the service advisor that this issue has been one of the biggest complaints he receives and in his opinion has cost Mini a tremendous amount of repeat business. It is very hard to swallow the $1400 repair when it is evident that this is a manufactures problem which will cost someone their life one day; maybe then they will do the right thing and fix their problems. Like Toyota; it took people dying for them to address the accelerator problem. Sad, very sad.
Air bag failure lamp light on. 2006 jcw Mini cooper. On startup, lamps all go through startup illumination then go dark. Airbag failure lamp relights 1 second later and remains on. No interior wiring done, car is as was received new from dealer.
The passenger airbag off light comes on with a passenger in the car. The light comes on and remains on at random intervals. I brought the car to the only Mini dealer in colorado and they told me that they couldn't duplicate the fault and that there wasn't a fault code in the computer. I asked to speak to the service manager and he told me that this was normal and that my 130 lb. Wife didn't weigh enough to warrant the srs system in the car.
Initially we were parked with a large adult who weighs ~200lbs sitting in the passenger seat, and the passenger airbag off lights illuminated. Shifting around and unbuckling-rebuckling seatbelt caused the lights to go off for a bit. We began to drive anyway, the terrain was mountainous, and eventually the lights went off. That night. In the following weeks and months, it was an intermittent problem, sometimes upon getting seated and starting to drive, other times once we were in motion, very unpredictable. The problem sometimes resolved by shifting his weight or fussing with the seatbelt to get the lights off, but for the past month it has been a constant problem.
I was involved in a multiple car accident. None of the air bags deployed and the seat belt did not hold me appropriately resulting in hitting the steering wheel with my face. I had head concussion and multiple face bruises, including a deep cut in my lip. Mini (BMW) is investigating.
Dash light indicating a passenger airbag problem lights up.
"passenger airbag off" light will illuminate, indicating that passenger airbag is turned off, when a full sized adult is occupying the passenger seat with seat belt buckled.
"passenger air bag off" light on intermittently. I bring to dealer for repair three times, but dealer found nothing wrong. And my problem continue.
The contact owns a BMW Mini Cooper S. The air bag cover emblem has a defected edge. If the air bag were to deploy, it could cause serious injuries. The dealer replaced the cover three times, but the defect is still uncorrected. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.
For one year my 2007 Mini Cooper S has had a defect in the passenger airbag system as it disables when a passenger is seated and the vehicle is either stopped or in motion.
On March 5, 2005, a 2 inch x 2 inch l shaped crack was first developed at the mid bottom section of the windshield of my 2004 Mini Cooper S. The short arm of the l originated from the bottom of the windshield. On the next day, after parking inside my garage overnight, the long arm of the l propagated another 2 inches. Today, while driving, the crack further extended another 1/4 inch. The problem is that the crack started with no obvious reasons. The only sensible explanation is due to design of the body struture or defect from Mini coopers, and subsequently causes stress to the windshield. It does not take long to learn from the internet message board that many similar complaints or recurring incidents were also reported. One of the message board participant who installs windshield for car suggested us to file a complaint at this site because windshield problem can be fatal because of the followings: 1. Act as a support for the roof. 2. Act as a barrier to prevent passenger from ejecting of the car. . Cause airbag malfunctioned. I strongly urge the NHTSA to investigate this problem immediately.
