Front Air Bag Problems of Mini Cooper S

The passenger airbag off light comes on when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. It occurs intermittently. Mini says it cannot fix it because the computer has no errors stored.

The srs light was on and wouldn't go out. The dealer checked it and said that the passenger seat mat is defective and it was a hard fault which prevents the air bag from working. The light sometimes goes out but usually stays on. They would not warranty this and wanted $1330 to repair it. The passenger seat has probably only been sat in 10% of the time.

The passenger airbag off light comes on with a passenger in the car. The light comes on and remains on at random intervals. I brought the car to the only Mini dealer in colorado and they told me that they couldn't duplicate the fault and that there wasn't a fault code in the computer. I asked to speak to the service manager and he told me that this was normal and that my 130 lb. Wife didn't weigh enough to warrant the srs system in the car.

Airbag cover on the drivers side has a defect edge on the Mini emblem which could cause additional injury to the driver in the event of a deployment.
